Anyone else looking forward to the Olympic Tennis Tournament?
I read that the participants will be able to gain ranking points.

Greg Rusedski has had a positive start to the year. He defeated Wawrinka of Switzerland 6-4, 6-2 in Adelaide to progress into the second round. His chances of winning that tournament were dramatically increased earlier today as the #1, #3 and #4 seeds were all dumped out by unseeded opposition. The #2 seed Vincent Spadea still remains and is through to the third round. Rusedski is up against Cyril Saulnier in the second round.

Tim Henman has also started 2004 in a positive way with a 6-4, 6-0 win over David Sanchez in the Qatar Open. He now faces Chela of Argentina in the next round.

Interesting. That could be a nice insentive for some big names to join in the tournament. I'll definitely be checking out the Olympic tennis this summer.

Henin already confirmed

I hope Clijsters won't play much anymore before the Australian Open, that ankle needs rest.

#1 seed Andy Roddick lost his second round match in Doha. Jonas Bjorkmann defeated the American with 6-3 and 6-4.

Kim Clijsters got injuried in her match in the Hopman Cup. There's a scan to be made and the outcome will decide whether Clijsters will participate at the Austrlian Open 2004 or not ....

Bad start for the new season.

Yes, just like I posted before. If she wants to keep her slightest chance intact to play at the Open, she'll need to cancel any pre-tournament ...

Serena's knee and her condition aren't ready yet to participate in the Australian Open. With Serena out and Clijsters doubtful, the chances of Venus and Henin on a first Grand Slam victory of the season only get bigger.
