I totally agree with that. They may be good tennis players (if a bit boring with their big hitting) but that attitude is what makes me not like them as much as the other big players on the tour. The attitude doesn't stop with them .. it extends into the family. I've seen their reactions during certain matches in big tournaments, it appears they despise their daughters opponents whenever one is losing and then when Venus or Serena get back on top of the match they become smug and arrogant as if to say 'my daughter is too good for you'. That attitude is simply un-needed.

I know a lot of people dont like the Williams sisters but I do, I am a fan of them for a long time and will always continue to be, its good to believe in yourself and there is nothing wrong with being determined and having faith in yourself is a huge part of that. I will support them and look forward to the day when they return back to tennis as it isnt the same at all without them.

One woudl think Capriati ...

*waves with bucket of fried chicken*
*Capriati forfeits the tournament to pursue a more important goal*

Esxactly. A very typical family tradition so it seems
It's always something when Venus or Serena lose. Bad call, pure luck for opponent, sun in eyes, ... blah blah blah.

Its because the family are very proud of what they have achieved thats why they act like that.

To me, such kind of reactions have nothing to do with family values or pride. They are signs of jealousy and greed to a certain extent.

I agree. Pride isn't something you would associate with some of the facial expressions the Williams family have on when Venus or Serena lose .. or what they appear to be saying.

Henman is back in action this week. He's facing Tomas Zib in the first round of the Dubai Open in less than an hour. Henman has player Zib before and beaten him on both occassions, so I'm hoping he'll make it 3-0.
Henman's biggest rivals for the week include: Safin, Federer (Federer - Safin in the 1st round!), Nalbandian (who Henman could play in the second round), Schalken, Philippoussis (I wonder if Delta will be there ) and Coria.

Full Draw

True pride is showing more sportmanship towards your opponent when you lose than when you win.
