Cool Summer Transfers Thread

The transfer window for this summer is now open for English clubs! Can we expect lots of transfers this year, at lower prices than normal; or will it be quite again. I expect it'll probably be reasonably quite, but there definitely should be enough going on to keep a nice discussion going.

Starting with Beckham, he's being linked with more clubs than the average player has in a lifetime now! Real Madrid, Barcelona, Roma, Milan and a few more (I think ). Barcelona are said to have made a verbal bid of £30 million for Beckham, but they can't make an official bid until June 15th when the new club president has been elected. Full Story
I'm in two minds about Beckham leaving. A part of me thinks he should stay, but another part of me says he should leave so United can bring in some new players with the £30 million + they'd recieve for him.

Alex Ferguson is interested in signing Xabi Alonso from Real Sociedad. The Midfielder would cost Man. United £20 million.

Lorenzo Amoruso is expected to move from Rangers to Blackburn in a £1.5 million deal

Oleg Luzhny has been linked with Charlton afer being released by Arsenal.

Here's an interested one ...... Middlebrough have been linked with AC Milan's out of contract Midfielder Rivaldo. Steve Mc Laren is interested in signing the Brazilian star, but the players demands might be a stumbling block in the possible negotiations.

In Division 1 Sheffield United boss Warnock is planning to strengthen his side for a big promotion push next season. He says he'd like to bring in 5 to 8 players, having already released 8 players.

Also, Man. City will be playing in the UEFA Cup next season because they have a good disciplinary record & the Premiership picked up less disciplinary points than other countries.

The Professional Footballers Association has today published a list of 586 Premiership and Football League players that will be out of contract at the end of June. The number is only an increase of 24 compared to last season but it's expected that many players will be left without clubs come the start of the new season in August

http://www.givemefootball.com/html/index.cfm (The PFA Website)

EDIT: Just wanted to say that I just signed up for their free service to view every player who is available, it is really cool.

Cool

Interesting. I signed up as well to have a look at the list. I would have liked another option in the search that allows the number of results to be narrowed down to a specific division, but I'll live with it!

Looks like a good site to. Thanks for the link.

I get the feeling that this thread will become very useful for me as I am only really up to date with who Wycombe and Notts Forest are buying and selling.

30 million pounds?? Where does Barcelona get all that money from?

The case Beckham will be a nice one this summer. Everyone wants to see what he's gonna do. Personally I'd like him to say with Manchester United (and I personally think he will).

David Seaman has been signed by Man City, I dont know if thats such a good move, replace a keeper by an older keeper?

Damn Emma, I was just going to post that. Who will be Arsenals keeper now, do they have a good 2nd keeper??

I never expected that a club still would want David Seamann ... the man is almost at his end.

Man City seem to like signing keepers who are at the wrong end of their careers they signed Peter Schmichael (sp?) and he was only there for a short while. They are better of either buying a young keeper of bring one from the youth team, It would save them a lot of money in the long run.

EDIT: About Beckham, he will stay a Man U, IMO he would be to frightened to move to another club away from the UK.
