Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has dropped a hint he would like to play in Spain - if ever he leaves Old Trafford.

That could alert Real Madrid who make no secret of their desire to sign a world class defender.

Ferdinand, the world's most expensive defender, has worked with Real coach Carlos Queiroz, who was Sir Alex Ferguson's assistant at Old Trafford.

Queiroz is well aware of Ferdinand's capabilities and rates him highly.

Real would also take note of Ferdinand's close friendship with David Beckham, who left Old Trafford for the Bernabeu during the summer in a £25m deal.

It would be a start, but not quite enough yet if you look at their current squad. They have everything except balance. Which is always a must when you want titles and cups.

If I was them, I wouldnt go for Ferdinand, He is well over priced and not worth the money Utd paid for him.

Chelsea are reported to be preparing a £5m bid for Charlton midfielder Scott Parker.

Parker could be the latest player to join Stamford Bridge's Russian revolution when the transfer window opens in January.

Chelsea's attempts to sign Parker during the summer were thwarted when he signed a new five-year contract.

I would have though people would just use the new threads for the Premiership and Nationwide League for any mid-season transfer news.
