Birmingham have rejected a bid from Everton for midfielder Robbie Savage.

The tough-tackling Welsh international had been linked with the Goodison Park club after he revealed he would join Everton if he ever left St Andrews.

A little update..

Everton have been busy on Monday, signing Arsenal striker Francis Jeffers on loan until the end of the season.

The Toffees have also brought in Leeds goalkeeper Nigel Martyn on a permanent basis as Mark Pembridge leaves Goodison Park for Fulham in a £500,000 deal.

Leeds have bagged 24-year-old Marseille striker Cyril Chapuis on loan until the end of the season along with Brazil international defender Roque Junior from AC Milan.

Elsewhere, Sunderland's Michael Gray has joined Celtic on a four-month loan, Portsmouth have snapped up former Newcastle goalkeeper Pavel Srnicek and Spurs have sealed the loan transfer of Inter Milan's Stephane Dalmat.

News in the Chivu-Roma story ... Ajax now agreed to move Chivu to Roma on a loan base for 4 months. During that time both teams will work further in order to perhaps finalize the transfer for good. If that happens, Chivu will be able to join Roma as a Roma player during the re-opening of the transfer market in Italy (December-January).

He has only starting four games at Arsenal in two years, what a waste of his time.

Everton were by far the busiest club on Monday, signing four players, including Arsenal striker Francis Jeffers, who has returned to his former club on loan until the end of the season.

In addition, Moyes brought in Sunderland winger Kevin Kilbane for £1m, and Leeds goalkeeper Nigel Martyn for a nominal fee.

And he also clinched a £1.25m deal with Motherwell for their 20-year-old forward James McFadden.

But Mark Pembridge left Goodison Park for Fulham in a £500,000 deal.

Leeds bagged 24-year-old Marseille striker Cyril Chapuis on loan until the end of the season along with Brazil international defender Roque Junior from AC Milan, who manager Peter Reid welcomed as "a big boost for the squad".

Elsewhere, Sunderland's Michael Gray joined Celtic on a four-month loan and Portsmouth snapped up former Newcastle goalkeeper Pavel Srnicek on a free transfer as well as West Brom striker Jason Roberts on a season-long loan.

But Pompey boss Harry Redknapp missed out on Leeds left-back Ian Harte, because the new rules only allow clubs to enter into two domestic loan deals, and he had already brought in Roberts and Alexei Smertin from Chelsea.

Spurs sealed their deal for Inter Milan's Stephane Dalmat for the season, and also secured Charlton's Paul Konchesky on a one-month loan, with Chris Perry moving the other way, while Wolves took Aston Villa midfielder Hassan Kachloul on loan until 16 January.

Ipswich striker Marcus Bent joined Leicester on a season-long loan, and there was also movement in and out at Bolton, who took Burnley's Glen Little on a month's loan with Gareth Farrelly and Delroy Facey moving in the opposite direction.

But boss Sam Allardyce missed out on Sergei Rebrov, because the former Spurs striker was refused a work permit.

Manchester United have reached an agreement with Real Madrid to receive £11m of the transfer fee for David Beckham in a lump sum.

United were originally due to receive £12m in equal instalments over four years but will now receive £11m up front.

The new terms will see United receive £1m less but allow them to bank the money immediately.

The club have already received about £5m of the £25m transfer fee with the rest being subject to Real's performances in the Champions League.
