To any mods, I don't know whether to put this in the English Football or Champions League because it concerns both. If it does indeed need merging then make a decision and I'll go find it after.

Refereeing by English officials this season has already been a shameful joke. I have no ideawhether it's due to the departure of No1 David Ellary but so far this season it has been a shocker.
Stone-wall penalties being turned down and dives being awarded with free kicks.
Ridiculous red cards - especially Tim Cahill's against City.
Players being punished needlessly and serious tackles being given the bare minimum of attention. Didi Hamman's karate kick against that Norwich lad for example.
Now it was last nights game between Werder Bremen and Valencia that absolutley tipped me well over the edge last night. Mike Reily was in charge last night and it was horrendous.
9 booked, One needlessly off. An offside goal and the single worst dive I have witnessed in my life since Deco's antics against Celtic in the UEFA Cup Final 03.
Is it time to bring foreign refs into the game to try and gain some control. I know there has been talk of employing Collia as a ref for top games.
I know some referees make a mistake but I feel its not just them, look at the assistants, Van der Sar was so off his line v West Brom in the Earnshaw penalty, I dont think he once stood on that line..
It does sound like a good idea as the Dutch game and Belgian game have such similarities. Therefore the referees have a good understanding on both sides of the border of what to expect.
