| A Zach vs Matt match for Summerslam is well possible ...
Spanky's destruction is similar to Hogan's destruction, prior to Summerslam 2002. And we all what happened at that previous Summerslam with Brock. Yes, he defeated Rock and became champ ... you're warned Angle.
Mike, yes Steph always looks hot IMO? but when she plays 'scared', I don't know what it is, but her face can get even sweeter and cuter and thereby hotter |

| Smackdown Spoilers August 21st: (by Nik Vulper) | Spoiler! | Dark Matches/Velocity
Unsure on the indy worker names as it was very difficult to hear. Mortis over Rick Martini [Electric Chair]
In the match, Mortis used this sick corner submission that seemed to be a Tarantula variant using the turnbuckles. He finished Rick off with an electric chair. Tyson Morty over Mark Burtolucci [Hanging DDT]
Tyson had some type of a gimpy strut which got a good reaction from the crowd. Off of one irish whip, he cartwheeled over Mark after Mark layed down, and he finished Mark off with a hanging DDT. In the match, the ref mocked the strut to a good reaction.
Josh Matthews & Ernest "The Cat" Miller came out, Miller looks like a fool when he dances. Billy Kidman over Shannon Moore [Rolling Power Bomb from Top Turnbuckle]
Moore had a nice Christian-esque temper tantrum after a near fall. Kidman was robbed of the shooting star press, so he instead did a rolling power bomb off the top turnbuckle. He hugged someone with a Kidman sign after his match. Good match, but a bummer not to see the SSP. Sean O'Haire over Funaki [That wild finisher O'Haire has]
Funaki threw his shirt into the crowd, and early on ran out of the ring. Sean did a really impressive spot where he lifted Funaki off the ground and up onto the apron. Funaki reversed O'Haire's finisher, tried for a pin, which got the first noise out of the crowd for this match, with a TWO chant. Crowd was big on those all night. O'Haire caught Funaki as he tried a tornado DDT off the top rope and pulled out his finisher for the three count. FBI (Chuck Palumbo & Johnny Stamboli) w/ Nunzio over Eric Young & Bobby Brood (We Dubbed them the No Music Squad) [Superkick]
Jobber botched a crucifix rollup that rolled into the ropes. FBI mainly cornered the blond guy throughout the match. He was stuck in a double arm bar for a while, and did a very impressive back spin kick to get out of it. Palumbo got the pin after a super kick to the back of the other guy's head. Bradshaw w/ Faarooq (no longer Ron Simmons) over Shelton Benjamin w/ Charlie Haas [Clothesline from HELL!]
BIG APA chant to start, which I found surprising. My friend Matt went for a cigarette since he hates Bradshaw. Bradshaw gets lured out of the ring by Haas, which gets him kicked in the back, then thrown into the steel steps. Back in, Benjamin tries a Northern Lights Suplex Pin. Then he gets Bradshaw in a sharp shooter. APA chant again accompanies Bradshaw's escape. I miss Haas & Benjamin having the "You Suck" prompt in their music. Bradshaw irish whipped Benjamin into two corners, hitting a clothesline in each, then got a sloppy looking backdrop. Haas grabbed Bradshaw's leg when Benjamin tried to pin him, which led to Faarooq finally getting involved, but he gets knocked out which lets Haas into the ring to pound on Bradshaw in the corner. But Bradshaw gets out of the corner when Benjamin goes after him, then Benjamin stumbles into a clothesline from hell. They knocked the WWE black apron loose during the match, exposing the silver Smackdown one beneath it, which was pretty funny. SMACKDOWN!
Show starts with a video recap of the cage match. They use a lot of bass in the arena, it was really loud.
First smackdown action in Kurt Angle in the ring with the only "What?"s of the night. He talks about wanting to fight tonight, not wrestle, but fight Brock Lesnar. The "I won't leave this ring" prompts Vince McMahon as usual, along with Brock. Great long asshole chant on McMahon. Angle gets one of the best lines of the night, with the difference between him and Brock being "I don't need some pumped up whack job 58-year old millionare to do my dirty work." I was rolling from that one. Angle's willing to take on Vince & Brock tonight, and Vince says "This business isn't about what you want, or what the fans want. This business is about what I want." To beat Keith to it, "I love shoot comments that aren't supposed to be shoot comments!" Vince agrees to give him a fight, as a warmup for Summerslam, and we get our main event, Angle vs. Big Show.
Woot for the Castrol GTX ad. I love paying to see commercials.
Backstage, Big Show & Vince discuss the match and turn it into a Falls Count Anywhere Street Fight. Isn't that a hard core match? Rey Mysterio w/ Billy Kidman over Matt Hardy w/ Shannon Moore [619 to West Coast Pop]
Rey 619ed his way out of an irish whip, finally defeating that whole continuous momentum that makes you run concept. On the ropes, Moore nearly chairs Rey, which brings Kidman over to grab the chair and go after Shannon. However, Kidman gets caught and sent to the back, with protest from Rey. Later Rey gets both Matt & Shannon in place for the 619, Shannon on camera front and Hardy on camera left. He hesitates for some reason, then gets grabbed by Hardy. The twist of fate is reversed, Hardy shoved into the ropes, and Gowen is in place to crack his cane over Hardy's back which sets up the 619 & west coast pop. Great Gowen chant for Zach.
Backstage, Vince & Brock again, Brock wants a warm up match since Angle has one, so Vince decides to make it Lesnar v. Gowen.
Recap of the Steph & A-Train match. In the arena, her voice is much less screechy than on TV. Rejoice, as she's not on screen once live during the show.
Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice... errr Jamie & Nidia & Billy & Torrie are shown walking together down the hall towards the ring.
Michael Cole is down ringside talking to some woman for a few minutes. Finally the cut on the P.A. and start the interview, and it's Zach Gowen's mom. She doesn't understand why someone like Brock would want to hurt her Zachary. Basham Brothers w/ Shaniqua over Da Foursome [Rollup]
Noble & Gunn start out running to the Bashams as they come out, then Gunn starts the match proper with a Basham (dunno which is which, sorry). Being opposite of the camera, I noticed that Jamie Noble wears Tommy Hilfiger shorts. That doesn't seem very redneck to me, I think he should have Levi's, or like the Wal-Mart house brand. Noble gets the hot tag and whoops some Basham, then Shaniqua pulls Noble out of the ring and off of a pin. One Basham goes down, and Shaniqua double clotheslines Carol & Alice. Gunn gets off a fameassed, but then he gets hit with the cat of nine tails, and the Basham who was playing possum gets a rollup on Noble.
Recap of Spanky vs. Brock Zach Gowen over Brock Lesnar [DQ - Chair]
Zach hugs his mom on the way out, and accidentally bumps one of the camera techs after taking off his prosthetic leg, which was damn funny. Brock leaves the ring and attempts to shake Mrs. Gowen's hand. Zach hits Brock with his prosthetic leg, then the match starts. Over real quick as Brock brings in a chair. Zach gets tossed into the post from F5 position, refs come to break it up, Brock scares them off, mom comes to Zach's side and he's put on a stretcher, rolled off, and then brock knocks him off the stretcher by the entrance. He carries the stretcher back to the ring and marks his chest with Zach's blood.
Break leads to watching the blood get cleaned up and a WWEFGHIJ history video to Kid Rock's Lonely Road of Faith. Pops for Hogan, Ultimate Warrior, Bret & Owen Hart. They show Jeff Jarrett and Sable dumping the WWF Women's belt into the trash on WCW TV. Bet Vince loves owning that piece of footage now.
Shane vs. Bischoff promo, I find the Eric/Linda thing just creepy. Then they show the same Summerslam promo from Raw, but in a different order, Elimination Chamber first, Angle/Lesnar last. Dudleys v. La Resistance match is on the video too, so I guess that's official.
John Cena comes out in his new shirt, which I would buy if it wasn't white. His Detroit rap draws major heat, but I thought it was hilarious. To quote "The only way Detroit looks good, is during a blackout. This ain't the Joe Louis Arena, it's the world's biggest crackhouse." This brought out you suck chants, and he swiftly replied, "Y'all think that I suck, maybe I do but you swallow." John Cena & A-Train over Undertaker & Orlando Jordan
I know the net isn't too big on him, but the Underbiker's pop was deafening. The shave your back chants got started before Albert even got into the ring, and as it died down, a young kid in the row in front of me added "AND TAKE A SHOWER!" Cena was up for the last ride, but that was broken up by A-Train, and Cena gets another duke on the Undertaker. I would have preferred to see the Undertaker be booked less strongly, because we know he's going over A-Train on Sunday, and Jordan didn't do a damn thing in the match. But the crowd was happy with the Undertaker, based on the dirty looks I got for cheering Cena.
UPN fall lineup commercial. I think the Mulletts might very well be the best show since Homeboys in Outer Space.
Sable backstage, flirting with the A-Train (wretch), and she gives him a Penthouse hotel card key. Thank goodness the WWE caught up with the times and realized that hotel "keys" don't exist anymore. Eddie Guerrero & Rhyno over Tajiri & Chris Benoit [Lie, Cheat & Belt Shot]
Guerrero & Rhyno came out together in a low rider, but Tajiri & Benoit came out seperately. Kinda robbed the home town of the shot to give Rhyno a big pop, but then again, Guerrero's was very loud. Tajiri got no love, but Benoit got a monster pop as well. The low rider had wood paneling, looked like something out of the Woodward Dream Cruise. Eddie hugs the ref early on to avoid Benoit, then turns things in his favor. Gets some nice rolling suplexes, Benoit goes for the rolling Germans on Rhyno, then Tajiri accidentally super-kicks Benoit, gore for Tajiri leads to the pin. Post match, Benoit crossfaces Rhyno, Eddi belt-shots Benoit, Rhyno, and then Tajiri for good measure before going back to the low-rider and skillfully backing it up.
I hope he loses the title without getting pinned and then is let into a WWE Title shot, hopefully with Angle. Would make for some great matches. There's more action in the match, but you just need to see it, I can't type to do it justice.
Next is a Rock movie preview, which pissed me off when I saw the green MPAA box, until I realized what it was. Crowd responded well and "The Rundown" will be out 09/02/03. Kurt Angle over The Big Show [Angle Slam through Table]
Great spot early on, as there's a chair on the ground and Big Show starts to power bomb Angle and then he beats his way loose, swings down, grabs the chair and swings back up to nail the Big Show with the chair. Outside he rolls out of a power bomb into an Ankle Lock, and also drives a chair into him from the relocated ring steps into the announce table. Match is finished with a 1-2-3 after an Angle Slam through the table, which brings out Brock for the end show stare down. |

| Smackdown Preview August 21st:
The A-Train has been on a vicious mean streak as of late. His most recent victim has been General Manager Stephanie McMahon. At the request of Mr. McMahon, Train has decimated Stephanie on more than one occasion. A-Train looks to carry this momentum into Thursday night when he teams up with the up-and-coming John Cena to battle Undertaker and the youngster Orlando Jordan. Will A-Train's momentum carry him over 'Taker and Jordan? Tune in to find out.
In other action, WWE Cruiserweight Champion Rey Mysterio takes on former Champion Matt Hardy in non-title action. Where there's Hardy, there's always that MF'er Shannon Moore. But will Rey's new partner Billy Kidman be by his side?
With just 72 hours before the Fatal Fourway Match for the United States Championship at SummerSlam, all four competitors will square off in the same ring on SmackDown! when Eddie Guerrero teams up with Rhyno to take on the duo of Chris Benoit and Tajiri.
"Friends" Torrie Wilson and Nidia will no doubt be at ringside when "Friends" Billy Gunn and Jamie Noble tag team to face the Basham Brothers. Perhaps Torrie and Nidia will be looking to Shaniqua for some advice outside of the ring.
All this and more this Thursday night at 8/7 CT on UPN. |

| Sorry, no pictures this week. Smackdown Results August 21st:
Angle comes down to ringside, he addresses Brock, he said that he told Brock man to man that he doesn't apologise for beating him for the title, because Angle lives for the belt. But he didn't come out here to tonight to ask for the assistence of Vince McMahon, because he fights his battles on his own. He vows revenge the old fashion way, finding his subject and kicking his ass. Kurt didn't come to Smackdown! for a match, he came for a fight with Lesnar, and Vince. He'll fight em both at the same time, makes no difference. Kurt isn't going anywhere until someone obliges to his demands.
Vince McMahon's music hits, he grabs the mic. He's impressed that Angle is looking for a fight, but it's not about what Angle wants, it's not about what the fans want, in this business it's about one thing, what Vince McMahon wants. Vince states that there will be no fight between Angle and Lesnar, or even McMahon himself. Angle tells Vince to come to the ring and tell him to his face.
Vince says that if he came face to face with Angle, Kurt would do something he would regret. If Angle comes near McMahon or Lesnar before Summer Slam, Angle is subject to immediate suspension, stripping of the belt, and getting fired. But McMahon still provides Angle with an opponent tonight, The Big Show! The Show's music then hits, as he comes down to stand beside McMahon on the ramp. Vince says, be careful what you wish for...
Angle tries to explain something to Vince, "He says he wants a fight, and he not going anywhere until he gets one. "Screw a 'match' with Big Show," Kurt wants a 'fight.' He then runs down to the ramp to attack the waiting Big Show. He knocks Show to the floor with hammering right hands, as officials are forced to pull him away.
Backstage, Big Show & Vince discuss the match, as Vince tries to control the Big Show from destroying the dressing room. They both agree on a Falls Count Anywhere Street Fight. Rey Mysterio w/ Billy Kidman Vs. Matt Hardy w/ Shannon Moore
Test of strength, Matt pushes Rey down to the match for a two count, followed by another. Mysterio quickly back to his feet, leg scissors, dropkick, 2 count. Thumb to the eyes by Hardy, he's then all over his opponent. But Mysterio tosses him to the outside and hits a spring board cross body block. Hardy back in the ring, he lays possum as Mysterio goes for another spring board move, he nails Mysrerio on contact with a clothseline knocking him on the apron, he then puts the boots to him. Because of a scuffle outside between Kidman and Moore, the ref then orders Kidman to leave ringside catches him with a steel chair in hand and hears the sound.
Back and fourth action, Mysterio goes into the steel post, he's wrapped around it like a rag doll. Hardy drops an elbow, almost a three count. Body slam countered, Mysterio hits a spinning heel kick. Rey tries to gain control, Hardy hits the side effect out of nowhere, but only gets a two count. Hardy goes for a body slam, countered with a spinning ddt by Mysterio, moment of desperation. Now both athletes going punch for punch, spinning leg scissors by Mysterio, beautiful. Spring board into a pinning combination, only gets a two count. Hardy back on his feet, hits a reverse side effect, Mysterio face first to the mat. Hardy gets a two count. Mysterio on the top rope, fights out of a side suplex, hits a moonsault, Mysterio gets a near count.
Clotheline by Hardy, takes Mysterio out. Zach Gowen comes down, hits Hardy with his cane to the back, 619 by Mysterio, followed by a spinning leg scissors off the ropes, he gets the three count.
Backstage, Vince & Brock, Vince tells him about the fall can occur anywhere match. But Brock questions why he doesn't have a match also, so Vince decides to make it Lesnar Vs. Zach Gowen. Lesnar says it's a hell of an idea, he tells Vince that he's gonna break Gowen's only leg! Vince says he likes the way Lesnar thinks, and wishes him luck at Summerslam.
Micheal Cole and Tazz discuss how Lesnar could do such a thing (breaking Gowen's only leg,) they then show footage of Stephanie and A-Train from last week! Cole and Tazz give an update on Stephanie's condition, she is suffering from eternal injuries.
Michael Cole introduces the audience to Zach Gowen's mother, she says that she doesn't like to watch her son being thrown across the ring, and with the idea of Lesnar taking on Gowen tonight, she doesn't understand why someone like Brock would want to hurt her son and break his only leg. Basham Brothers w/ Shaniqua V.s Billy Gunn w/ Torrie and Jamie Noble W/ Nidia
Noble & Gunn start out running to the Bashams as they come out, then Gunn starts the match proper with Doug. Gunn hard right hards, then whips Doug in the corner. Clothesline by Doug, as both Brothers soon courner Gunn. Danny tagged in, the double teaming effort allows him to get a two count. Doug quickly tagged back in, another two count. A lot of back fourth action, The Basham brothers are in control throughout the match. Finally Noble is tagged in, swinging neck breaker on Danny, almost a three count. Noble hits an elbow on Danny, two count.
Shaniqua pulls Noble out of the ring and off the bridge pinning combo. Basham goes down, and Shaniqua double clotheslines Nidia and Torrie on the outside. Basham Brothers switch places, and gets a roll up on Noble.
Backstage, Lesnar is spotted with Zack Gowen, he tells Gowen that after tonight he (Gowen) wont have a leg to stand on, Gowen looks on in disbelief. Zach Gowen Vs. Brock Lesnar
Lesnar Methodically makes his way to the ring, with a cold look on his face. Zach comes down to ringside, hugs his biggest fan, his mom. Both men come face to face, Zach isn't backing down. Brock leaves the ring and attempts to shake Mrs. Gowen's hand, his attempt is mere intimidation and disrespect, Zach suddenly takes out Brock with his prosthetic leg, but to no avail as Lesnar gives him a high knee, and whips Gowen into the outside post. The match starts. Lesnar begins a vicious assault on Gowen who tries to fight back but to no avail. Repeated powerbombs, Gowen is nearly driven through the ring! Gowen's mother yells for her son to get up. Gowen, tossed to the outside, right in front of his mother.
Brock brings out a steel chair. Steel chair to the skull, earns Lesnar a DQ. Followed by repeated shots to Gowen's only leg.
Gowen busted wide open, gets headbutted to his bloody head. Lesnar picks up Gowen in position for the F5, as Gowen's mother begs him to leave her son alone. Zach gets tossed into the post from F5 position, his mother looks on with fear in her eyes. Refs come to break it up, Brock scares them off, and repeatedly tortures Gowen, then tossing him into the outside ring post with another F5.
Gowen's mom comes to Zach's side and he's put on a stretcher, rolled off, and then Brock knocks him off the stretcher by the entrance. He carries the stretcher back to the ring and marks his chest with Zach's blood. A pre-meditated assault by Lesnar, and he's very happy with the results.
Michael Cole says how ridicilous Lesnar's actions were, as he questions he purpose. Tazz says that he's also ashamed of Lesar's actions, Michael Cole emphasises that Lesnar doesn't care about anyone but himself, and that he hopes Lesnar gets what he deserves at SummerSlam.
John Cena comes out, He says we just saw Lesnar break Gowen's leg, but shows no concern. He goes on to say that "The only way Detroit looks good, is during a blackout. This ain't the Joe Louis Arena, it's the world's biggest crackhouse." "The best part about this city is that I'm leaving here tomorrow," his next lines were cut from television , but from reading his lips it would have read "Y'all think that I suck, maybe I do but you swallow!" I don't like rap much, but Cena is very talented, and entertaining to watch. John Cena & A-Train Vs. Undertaker & Orlando Jordan
Cena starts off with Taker, Big Evil's in control with a half nelson. Both men into the ropes, Taker goes to the outside. Cena tries to pull Taker in but is hung up on the ropes with a neck breaker. Old School by The Taker, connects across Cena's arm, two count. Jordan tagged in, so is A-Train. Train misses an avalanche and is planted with a DDT.
Cena and Taker back in the ring, Taker's fired up hits snake eyes (drops Cena on the corner ring post,) he then goes to work on both Cena and A-Train running from corner to corner. Dragon Sleeper by Taker on Cena, A-Train tries to interfere but is cut off at the path by Jordan. Choke Slam on A-Train by Taker, but Cena runs in with a spine buster to Taker. Cena with Steel chair in hand, his attempt is thwarted by Taker.
Cena is up for the last ride, but that was broken up by A-Train who hits Taker with a steel chain, Cena gets the pin over the Undertaker.
Sable backstage meets A-Train, she says he's very impressive, he says "you can count on it, baby!" She then begins to rub his chest and tells him that Vince wanted to personally thank him for his actions last week, and how much they both appreciate it, she gives him a Penthouse hotel card key. Eddie Guerrero & Rhyno Vs. Tajiri & Chris Benoit
Chris tries to shake Eddie's hand, and then clips his leg. Guerrero with a chop, whipped into the ropes backbody drop by Benoit, followed by a gorilla press slam. Rhyno Tagged in. Rhyno in control, headbutt off the ropes, Tajiri breaks up the three count. Rhyno goes to work, both Guerrero and Rhyno isolate Benoit in the corner. Guerrero tagged in, abdominal stretch, Benoit screams in pain. Double snap suplex, Guerrero's fired up.
Guerrero is caught on the top rope, and is suplexed. Both men are hurt, Double tag. Tajiri is on a roll, hamstring elbow off the ropes, Tajiri wards off both opponents, Tarantula on Rhyno. Benoit nails Guerrero with a headbutt off the top rope. Tajiri inadvertainly clocks his partner, Rhyno Gores Tajiri gets the duke.
After the match Eddie belt-shots Benoit, Rhyno, and then Tajiri showing that he's the domninant one going in the PPV. Kurt Angle Vs. The Big Show (Falls Count Anywhere, Street fight!)
Angle waits for the Big Show at the top of the stage, the bell rings, Angle takes advantage of his opponent, catches him off guard. At they battle down the ramp, Show tosses Angle into the outside ring post. He picks up a wooden table tosses it in the ring along with Angle. He slams Angle on the table, still unfolded on the ground, then a leg drop, cover... two count.
Hard right hands in the corner with a frying pan like hand, delivering chops to Angle's chest. Picks up the table, places it in front of Angle. He charges, but Angle pushes the table into Show, Angle Slam! Crawls into the cover, but only a two count. Hard right hands by Angle, big boot knocks him down by Big Show. Show lifts table up, as Kurt Angle goes outside to get a chair. Chair shot to The Show's kidney area, Big Show counters with a monsterous right hand to the chair.
Angle is set up for a powerbomb, Angle picks up the chair on the way up and nail's Show. Cover, two count. Chair shot to The Show knocking him to he outside. Show pulls Angle to the outside, shots to the mid section, big headbutt. Angle dropped on the barricade. Show positions ringside steel steps next to the announce booth. Angle hooks Show by the family jewels (believe it or not,) this slows the big man down. Show, pushed into the ring post. Steel chair in hand, Angle is caught by the massive hand of Big Show. Angle reverses The Choke slam attempt into an Ankle lock submission, Show screams in pain, but somehow kicks out.
Both men still on the outside. Show is thrown onto the announce table. Angle picks up a chair, uses it with a leg drop to his opponent, cover, Show kicks out after a two count. Show thrown back into the ring, the table is set up. Show grabs Angle by the throat, Angle counters with an Angle Slam on to the table, gains the three count.
Brock Lesnar's music hits, he's standing at the top of the ramp, both men stare each other down in preparation for their Wrestle Mania Rematch at SummerSlam! |

| Smackdown Preview August 28th:
The "Manster" Brock Lesnar has certainly earned his nickname in recent weeks. However, he failed in his attempt to decimate Kurt Angle and regain the WWE Championship at SummerSlam. Rather, Angle forced the so-called "Manster" into sumbission. How does Lesnar feel about tapping out to Kurt Angle? And with the loss, has Lesnar his No. 1 Contender's spot? Find out Thursday night on SmackDown!
Also, the rivalry between Stephanie McMahon and Sable just keeps getting more intense. At SummerSlam, Undertaker held Sable while Stephanie beat her senseless. You can bet these two Divas will have more in store for each other this Thursday.
In a Cruiserweight Championship match, Rey Mysterio puts his gold on the line against F.B.I. member Nunzio.
In addition, Chris Benoit will take on the ever-powerful A-Train.
All this and more this Thursday night at 8/7 CT on UPN. |
