Possible injury:

"Rey Mysterio was injured during the SmackDown! tapings last night in Greensboro, North Carolina. Mysterio's leg gave out on him during a match on the show. He was able to finish the match, but had to be carried to the back after the match."

Let's hope this is not serious!

Smackdown May 29th Taping Results:

Spoiler!
No dark matches and Velocity tapings tonight as I was having some satellite technical difficulties at the time. Hopefully someone who attended can email me a report of that.

Smackdown starts with Sable coming to the ring. She introduces the participants for the very first match and sits at ringside to watch.

Nidia w/ Jamie Noble beat Torrie Wilson with a rollup holding the tights. After the match Torrie pantsed Nidia.

Vince arrives to the arena in a limo.

Backstage, the lie detector testers are testing the equipment on Stephanie.

Backstage, Team Angle walk to the ring for their match.

Backstage, Eddie Guerrero and Tajiri prepare for their match. Tajiri presents Eddie with a set of car keys that he stole from someone.

-commercial-

Eddie and Tajiri drive a lowrider truck to the ring.

WWE Tag Team Championship
Tajiri and Eddie Guerrero beat Team Angle by DQ.

Backstage, Mr. America sits in his locker room worrying about the lie detector test.

Vince McMahon comes to the ring for the lie detector test. Vince says he still has that smile on his face. Vince welcomes us to a very special edition of Smackdown. Why is it so special? Because it will be the last show we will see any form of Hulk Hogan in the ring. Vince says once the test is done Mr. America's contract will be null and void. Vince sees Zach Gowen sitting at ringside. Vince says after the test tonight neither Hogan or Zach will have a leg to stand on. Vince introduces Mr. America.

Mr. America comes to the ring and he sits at the table in the ring and gets hooked up with all the lie detector equipment. Vince tells Hogan he is not singling him out because he has all his corporate employees go through the same thing. Because if there is one thing Vince can not stand it is a liar.

The interogation begins.

Are you the man known as Mr. America?
Yes.

Are you currently sitting in a wrestling ring in Pensacola, Florida?
Yes.

Are you currently employed on Smackdown?
Yes.

Are you Hulk Hogan?
*long pause* Can I please have a drink of water?

Vince asks the question this time.

Mr. America, are you Hulk Hogan?
No. The tester says he is telling the truth.

Vince wants the question asked again.

Are you Hulk Hogan?
No. The tester says he is telling the truth.

Mr. America is asked the same question 4 more times with the same answer. The tester says Mr. America has passed the lie detector test.

Vince says Mr. America is lying through his teeth. If Hogan can pass the test then Vince himself can pass it. Vince wants the equipment put on him.

The interogation on Vince begins.

Are you Vince McMahon?
Yes.

Are you the chairman of WWE?
Yes.

Hogan wants to ask a question.

Are you the biggest asshole on God's green earth?
No. The tester buzzes wrong.

Are you a sick, perverted, power hungry freak?
No. The tester buzzes wrong.

Vince says he is a respected business man. The tester buzzes wrong. Vince can hardly talk without the tester buzzing wrong. So finally Vince says what he does he does for only himself. The tester buzzes correct.

Hogan asks if Vince pleasures himself by looking at pictures of Torrie's Playboy?
No. The tester buzzes wrong.

Vince says atleast he doesn't fantasize about Mae Young. The tester buzzes wrong.

Vince says he hates Hogan. The tester buzzes correct.

Mr. America calls Vince a liar and knocks him on his ass. Hogan leaves.

Backstage, Vince asks Stephanie if she just saw what happened. Vince says Stephanie was the one responsible for hiring the lie detectors, to make sure the equipment worked properly, and she was the one who hired Mr. America. Stephanie says if Vince doesn't believe her she will take a lie detector test. Vince says next week things are going to change for the better. Vince walks off calling Stephanie a smart ass.

Sean O'Haire w/ Roddy Piper beat Chris Benoit. Piper had entered the ring and Benoit put him in the crossface. O'Haire kicked Benoit in the back and rolled him up holding the tights for the pin.

Backstage, The FBI are shown lifting weights and talking about their 2 on 3 handicap match tonight with Undertaker and Brock Lesnar. The conversation ensenuates that not only will they be using weapons in their match tonight but something much bigger.

-commercial-

A caption says that Rey Mysterio will take on Matt Hardy next week on Smackdown for the cruiserweight championship.

Backstage, Rey Mysterio does a self interview talking about pulling his groin last week and how he will beat Matt Hardy next week in Anaheim on Smackdown. Matt Hardy walks up and says he will destroy Mysterio next week. Mysterio falls to the ground in pain after getting kicked on his injured leg by Matt.

An Ultimo Dragon vignette is shown with the caption saying "COMING SOON".

Basham Brothers (Doug & Danny) beat Spanky and Rikishi when one of the brothers pinned Spanky and had his brother holding his feet on the ropes. After the match the hometown hero and Spanky put on top hats and dance for the crowd.

Out in the parking lot Vince's limo is getting towed away for being parked in the handicap zone. Vince gets in the limo anyways and tells the tow truck driver to tow him to the airport. Zach Gowen walks up and knocks on the window and tells Vince it is illegal to park in a handicap spot. As the limo is towed away Vince is heard screaming to stop because he wants to get out and kick Zach's ass.

The FBI comes out Nunzio gets on the mic and reminds everyone via video how Undertaker tried to end his career last week. Nunzio says he can not wrestle tonight as he may have some broken ribs. Nunzio says the handicap match will remain the same as he has found a suitable replacement. Cue up Big Show's music.

2 on 3 Handicap Match
Brock Lesnar and The Undertaker vs The FBI and Big Show
The FBI and Big Show beat Brock Lesnar and The Undertaker via Big Show's sloppy chokeslam on Lesnar.

After Smackdown went off the air Undertaker grabbed a mic. Undertaker said they got their ass kicked but it's only one night. Undertaker says he did not come down to Pcola without having a good time. Undertaker invites a good friend of his who works ringside for WWE, Frank, to come into the ring because it is his birthday. Undertaker wants someone else to come into the ring as well. Undertaker calls out one of Pcola's finest residents - Rikishi. Rikishi gets on the mic and wants Pcola to show Frank what kind of hospitality they have by singing happy birthday to him. Everyone in the arena sings happy Birthday to Frank. Brock Lesnar brings a birthday cake into the ring and makes Frank guess what flavor it is. Lesnar shoves the cake in Frank's face. Frank falls down in the corner where Rikishi gives him a birthday cake stinkface. Frank walks out of the ring and gives Tony Chimmel a hug wiping the cake all in his face.

Spoiler!

Brock vs Big Show next week for title ... Angle faces winner (which will be Lesnar) for title week after that.

Rey Rey won Cruiserweight Title, finally, just as I expected. Now he can start a title feud with Ultimo Dragon.

WOW

You're in for a treat people! Seems to be a great episode:

Short recap:

Spoiler!

Billy Gunn returns and seems to join Torrie.

Sable and Steph seem to be playing the Austin/Bisch co-GM's story ... result? US TITLE will be brought back! This events things up again, with 4 titles on both Smackdown and RAW. Hopefully a tournament to determine the winner and new champ (with the final at Vengeance).

Team Angle 'turns' on Angle, who's clearly face again.

Benoit and Rhyno are set up even further to meet in a match later and start a feud.

Vince beats Mr. America in an arm wrestling contest! For obvious reasons as Hogan is tit flashed by Sable!

Main event: Brock vs Big Show for title ... Brock does crazy move! Superplex from second rope ... with spectacular consequences ... seconds later match ends in no-contest cause the ring breaks and so do the ropes ... both man lay through the ring!!! I hope neither is hurt bad

Full results:

Spoiler!

Dark Matches

1) Ian Harrison & Travis Tonto (maybe?) vs. Norman Smiley & ?? (couldn't hear his name)

Norman and his partner were definite faces here. The heels win, but not before Norman tried to hump "tattoo boy" from behind to a big pop.

2) Jamie Noble vs. Ultimo Dragon

Holy cow... serious pyro for Dragon's entrance, which was weird for a dark match. Huge pop from the crowd. Dragon wins, and Noble gets shot down yet again. He must have pissed off someone backstage. Wasn't he a champion or something? :-P

Josh Matthews and Ernest "The Cat" Miller come down for Velocity.

3) Brian "Spanky" Kendrick vs. Chad Collier

I guess we are just supposed to refer to him as "Spanky" now... whatever. Anyway, decent match. Spanky wore the most glittery purple shorts I have seen since Johnny B. Badd. Surprise, surprise, Brian and his loud shorts pick up the win. I'm not sure if this match will be televised. Josh and Ernest were ringside, but the Velocity pyro happened after this match.

Velocity

4) Shannon Moore vs. Orlando Jordan

Nice pop for Jordan... maybe it's just because he was wrestling IN Orlando... who knows? He looked good, though, and even bigger surprise, he gets a clean TV win over Shannon.

5) Kanyon vs. Bill "Hugh Morris" DeMott

I mention "Hugh" because DeMott started the match by telling a lame "Knock, Knock" joke. I'm not sure what the deal with his character is, but he picks up the win here with some weird reverse suplex. Kanyon was the heel, but didn't look very impressive, as you might have guessed.

6) Rikishi vs. Crash

Oh, my... can you say "squash"? Who books these things? Before the match, Crash lines the ring apron with WWE Magazines, which had Matt Hardy on the cover (I think). During one point, Rikishi knocked him down, and he crawled over to one of the magazines, and started reading it. I guess he needed some pointers from his mentor. It was pretty funny, but it didn't work. Rikishi wins with a Bonzai Drop, and then danced for us.

SmackDown!

- Michael Cole and Tazz come down to Tazz's music. The pyro hits, and they start with a recap of last week, where Rey Mysterio wins the Cruiserweight title from Matt Hardy.

1) Rey Mysterio vs. Matt Hardy (WWE Cruiserweight title rematch)

Rey pops up, and comes to the ring first. Then we see Matt backstage with Shannon and Crash. He blames them for his loss last week, and says they are not allowed at ringside. He then proceeds to deck Shannon in the face, and throws Crash into some stage equipment. Looked pretty brutal. He comes down to the ring, and gets serious heat from the crowd for his actions.

The match was good, but different than last week. Mysterio hits the 619 and the West Coast Pop, but Matt kicks out after 2. Rey goes up top, and hits a great looking bulldog, but only a 2 count. Matt goes for the Twist of Fate near the ropes, but Rey blocks it by grabbing the ropes. He then hits a hurricarana off the top rope for the win. Matt does the job for Rey.

WINNER: Rey Mysterio (retains title)

- The ring is set up for Piper's Pit. Roddy comes down with Sean O'Haire to bagpipes. There's a table set up in the ring. Half of it has sushi and half has beans and salsa. Roddy announces his guests on this international edition of Piper's Pit, Eddie Guerrero and Tajiri. Eddie and Tajiri drive down in the low-rider from last week. Funny segment, with loud "Eddie" chants. Sean wants to hold Eddie's tag team belt, but Eddie's too smart for that. Tajiri, however, wants to munch on some sushi, so he lets O'Haire hold his belt for a plate of sushi. Sean won't give it back. Roddy offers a toast of (almost) friendship. Tajiri sprays it back in their faces, as Eddie turns the buffet table over on them, and steals Tajiri's belt back.

Then, they get back in the car, and try to back it out, but it keeps stalling out. I don't think that'll be on Smackdown. The stage crew had to push it out.

- Sable appears on screen, as Stephanie enters the picture. They talk about Zach Gowen's chances for a contract, and Steph knows Sable is up to something. She also mentions that she is bringing back the U.S. Title (!). Kick ass!!

2) A-Train vs. Billy Gunn (Guest ring announcer - Torrie Wilson)

Billy makes his return to Smackdown in style. He comes down to his Mr. Ass music and gimmick, and Torrie is all over him. Lots of "Shave your back" chants for Albert, as you might expect. The crowd was all over A-Train's ass (or wait, no... no...). Billy wins with the Fame-ass-er, and then exchanges playful spankings with Torrie. They leave arm in arm.

3) Undertaker vs. Johnny Stamboli (w/ Chuck Palumbo and Nunzio)

The best part about this match was that I didn't have to hear Michael Cole mention a "numbers game" or someone getting "whacked"... but, I'll hear it when I watch Thursday, I'm sure. Stamboli looked good in this match. He had Taker stunned with a spinebuster and started slapping him in the face. That didn't last too long, as Taker got pissed and came back momentarily. UT spent a good part of the match chasing Nunzio, which was pretty funny. Stamboli hit a beautiful suplex, considering how tall the Undertaker is. Johnny misses a leg drop from the top rope, and Taker capitalizes, hitting the Last Ride for the win.

After the match, Palumbo gets involved, and gets a nice chokeslam for his efforts. But, Nunzio smacks Undertaker in the face with a steel chair to leave him laying in the ring.

- Backstage, Zach Gowen is getting a pep talk from Mr. America.

- After the break, Stephanie comes down to ringside to oversee the arm wrestling contest. She is about to announce Zach, but Sable's music starts instead. Sable comes down to the ring, and starts to say something, but Steph cuts her off. She finally gets to announce Zach, accompanied by Mr. America. Then, "No Chance" hits, and here comes the boss! Vince is wearing a tank top and workout pants, and he's pumped up huge for this.

Hogan gets on the mic, and says this is about you and me, McMahon. Why don't you put that little spaghetti arm up here, and let's settle it. Vince says he'll arm wrestle Hogan on two conditions. First, it has no bearing on Zach's contract, and second, if Mr. America loses, he has to leave the ring. They lock up left-handed, and go at it. It looks like Hogan might win, but Sable interferes and they stop the contest.

Steph warns her not to get involved again. They try it again, right-handed. This time, Hulk is keeping an eye on Sable to make sure she doesn't interfere again. He's about to beat Vince again, when suddenly Sable flashes her tits at Mr. America. He's momentarily stunned (and who wouldn't be?) and Vince takes advantage and wins. He then forces Mr. America, Stephanie and Sable all to leave the ring.

Now, Vince starts verbally trashing Zach, and they get set for the real arm-wrestling contest. Left-handed, Vince sells big time to Zach. It almost looks like Zach is going to pull off a miraculous upset, when Vince kicks Zach's leg from under the table, and pins his arm down. The ref didn't see it. LOL. He continues to berate Zach, forcing him to leave the ring.

4) Chris Benoit & Rhyno vs. Doug & Dave Basham (w/ Shaniqua)

The Bashams have gotten themselves a valet, and it's none other than Linda Miles! This was a pretty decent match, with Rhyno taking a beating. Chris goes up top for the flying headbutt, and Linda tries to interfere. He just kicks her away, but he misses the headbutt. The match ends with Rhyno accidentally punching Benoit in the face, and one of the Bashams pins Benoit. After the match, he's not a happy camper.

Later, backstage, Benoit and Rhyno get into a shouting match, with Rhyno trying to tell Benoit that he didn't mean it. Benoit wants to know how he can trust Rhyno.

5) Funaki vs. John Cena

Cena does a cool rap about Michael Cole liking boy bands, and gave props to Orlando. Kind of surprising, considering he's still the heel. But, he got one of the biggest pops of the night when his music hit. Funaki tried to do a rap, calling Cena ugly. He got a hard clothesline for his trouble. This match was a total squash, and lasted all of 30 seconds or so. The first clothesline, and his F-U finisher for the win.

- Kurt Angle comes down to the ring to the biggest pop of the night. He said he was happy to come back to Smackdown last week, but this week he has unfinished business to take care of. He calls out Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas. The crowd is definitely not happy to see Team Angle. Kurt says he understands why they didn't call him in the hospital, but why weren't they at Smackdown last week to welcome him back? Shelton says they were sick... sick of living in Kurt's shadow. And where was Kurt when they were forced to wrestle in a ladder match? Kurt says it's too bad they lost the tag team belts, so let's go sit down and figure out how to win them back. Charlie takes the mic, and says no... they aren't going anywhere. They are tired of Kurt calling all the shots, and tired of the crowd yelling "You Suck" when they walk to the ring, so Kurt is now no longer in charge. Angle says there's only one reason the crowd chants "You Suck"... because he earned it... four years, title after title. Basically, he fires Team Angle to the crowd's delight.

After the break, we see Charlie and Shelton waiting on Kurt to come backstage. Some words are exchanged, and they attack him from behind.

- Video recap of the Brock Lesnar / Big Show feud, going back to last Summerslam.

6) Brock Lesnar vs. Big Show (WWE Championship)

*WOW*... ok, match starts kind of slow. Big Show goes over the top rope to the outside. Brock follows him, but gets thrown head-first into the steps. Lots of heat for the Big Show, chants of "Big Show sucks" throughout the whole match. Brock is selling an injury, probably his shoulder from the steel steps. He tries an F-5 on Show, but collapses. Big Show goes for a chokeslam, but Brock gets out of it. Show hits a big leg drop, but only a 2 count. He finally hits a chokeslam, but again, only for 2. He's going for a 3rd chokeslam attempt, and he looks like he's trying to drag Brock to the top rope. Brock blocks it, and crotches Big Show. Brock sets him up for a superplex off the 2nd rope. He hits a massive superplex, and the RING COLLAPSES!! The ropes come down first, then the bottom drops out of one side. It was amazing to watch. It's going to look great on television! The crowd was in shock, and both wrestlers were on their backs as the show went off the air. The "Holy Shit" chants started as the EMT's came to ringside with stretchers.

Short spoiler:

Spoiler!
Ultimo Dragon debutes next week

Lesnar/Angle/Mr America vs Show/Haas/Benjamin in main event after DQ during match for WWE Title between Brock and Show

Full spoilers:

Spoiler!
DARK MATCHES

(1) Gail Kim def. Dawn Marie. Bland women's match, the soon-to-be Raw ladies contender wins with a victory roll.

(2) Ultimo Dragon def. Michael Shane. THIS IS A DARK MATCH?!?!?! Awesome way to light up the crowd. Dragon looked as good as ever, sticking in his usual repertoire of stiff kicks. His opener looked awesome as well, lots of fire to simulate dragonfire. Dragon took the win with by taking a front face lock variation, jumping all the way over the top, and dropping down with a reverse DDT like move.

VELOCITY MATCHES

(1) A-Train def. Orlando Jordan. A-Train came out MAD for some reason. I'm assuming it will be explained more on the show. Jordan got in some moves, but A-Train eventually took the win with the Derailer.

(2) John Cena def. Funaki. Funaki and Cena get a rematch from last week's Smackdown, and although Funaki got some more time and moves in, Cena proved too much for him. Cena connected with the F-U for the pinfall win.

(3) Matt Hardy def. Paul Logan. No Crash or Shannon Moore with Hardy. Average match, when Logan missed a shooting star press, Matt dropped two Twists Of Fate on him to take the pinfall.

(4) Basham Brothers (w/ Shaneiqua) def. Shannon Moore & Crash. I'm not sure if this is new or not, but Moore and Crash came out to an opener that was a parody of Matt Hardy's opener. The computer graphic starts to load up, but had a "system failure" at 30% loaded. I thought it was hilarious. The Bashams got the pin on Shannon Moore when they connected with a combination running forearm into a Russian leg sweep.

SMACKDOWN MATCHES

The show opens with a replay of the superplex that imploded the ring last week between Big Show and Brock Lesnar. It is announced that Show and Lesnar will have a rematch for the title tonight.

(1) Undertaker def. Nunzio (w/ FBI). Taker quickly opened up a couple of cans on Nunzio, including an awesome chokeslam over the top rope onto the other members of FBI at ringside. Nunzio was quickly dropped by the Last Ride for the pinfall for Undertaker. After the match, Stamboli and Palumbo start to beat up on Undertaker, and as the FBI starts to gain an advantage, the surprise is dropped -- THE APA RETURNS! Bradshaw and Simmons run out and manage to chase out FBI with Taker's help.

Zack Gowen is shown getting condolences from some of the other wrestlers in the back. He makes his way to Stephanie's office, but finds only Sable there instead. Sable invites Zack into the office alone, making sure that no one has followed him. We also see a "Brock Lesnar Timeline" clip, highlighting the feud between Show and Lesnar. These timelines were spaced in various parts of the show.

(2) Chris Benoit def. Rhyno. Benoit and Rhyno came out together for what looked like a tag team match, when Stephanie McMahon came out, carrying the newly redesigned United States Title Belt. She announces that this match will not be a tag match, but instead Benoit and Rhyno will go one-on-one in a first round match for the U.S. Title, which will be decided at the next pay-per-view. The match started off with some decent scientific moves, but got SLOW from there on through. Lots of rest holds were used, and the crowd started getting restless, chanting "GO SPURS GO" instead of anything related to the match. Benoit finally turned the match into his favor and got the win with the Crippler Crossface. After the match, Benoit extended his hand to Rhyno, but they did not shake hands.

Back in Stephanie's office, Sable is coming on to Zack Gowen. She mentions that last week, Zack got to see Sable's puppies, but this week, she would like him to feel them. Sable directs Zack's hands to the lower parts of her body, off camera of course.

(3) Rey Mysterio def. Kanyon. As the match was about to open, it was announced that Ultimo Dragon would make his Smackdown debut on next week's episode, which would be taped at Madison Square Garden. The match was a typical match of Kanyon's size against Rey's speed. Rey's speed finally won out, as he connected with the 619 followed by the West Coast Pop for the win.

(4) Kurt Angle def. Charlie Haas. Haas and Benjamin came out to ringside in new outfits and new music, but the crowd still chanted "You Suck" for them. Haas and Benjamin challenge Kurt Angle to a match next week, but Angle comes out and says that next week is for wimps. He's ready to get it on tonight. Charlie Haas decides to take Angle's challenge and hooks it up. Shelton Benjamin got in a cheap shot against the post while Angle was outside, but the ref heard it and ejected Benjamin from ringside for the rest of the match. After some nice back-and-forth action, Angle took the pinfall win with the Angle Slam. Benjamin came running back out to double-team Angle, and as they beat up on Kurt, Brock Lesnar came out to make the save for Kurt.

In Stephanie's office, Sable is continuing to make out with Zack Gowen. She makes Zack beg for her, then tells him that there is no way he would ever get to be with Sable. As Sable starts to put him down, Vince McMahon comes in the office and kicks Zack out of the office. He then laughs with Sable, revealing that the whole thing was a setup to be able to make fun of Zack.

(5) Billy Gunn (w/ Torrie Wilson) def. Jamie Noble (w/ Nidia). Squash match for Gunn. Nidia and Torrie managed to get in a little catfight, but it was broken up by Gunn. Gunn took the pinfall win with his Fameasser.

(6) Sean O'Haire (w/ Roddy Piper) def. Eddie Guerrero (w/ Tajiri). Piper comes out with a bottle of tequila for Eddie to drink, making fun of Eddie during the match. Tajiri tried to keep Piper from interfering, but Piper instead took a swig of the tequila and spit it in Tajiri's face, paying him back from last week. The actions at ringside distracted Eddie long enough for O'Haire to get the win with his fireman's carry slam variation.

Back in the office, Sable and Vince continue to gloat over how they got one over on Zack. Sable gives a small kiss to Vince, and then mounts him on top of a desk. Just as they are starting to have some fun, Stephanie McMahon comes in and kicks out Sable. Stephanie RIPS INTO Vince with a MAJOR fit. She was getting so emotional, I had trouble understanding what all she was saying. I caught that she definitely wanted Zack Gowen to get a contract with WWE, and that she didn't care if Vince fired her or not. Vince was left speechless for once.

It is announced that on next week's Smackdown, Undertaker and the APA will take on all three members of the FBI in a six-man match.

(7) Brock Lesnar def. Big Show by disqualification to retain the WWE Championship. Lesnar climbed up on the top rope to start the match, and dared Big Show to follow him. Instead, the start of the match had a lot of fighting on the outside. Lesnar started to gain control, and as he lifted up Show for the F-5, Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin ran in for the DQ. Show, Haas, and Benjamin all triple-teamed Lesnar until Kurt Angle came in to try and even the odds. Show finally dropped Angle with a chokeslam, and as the beating continued, Mr. America ran in to even the odds some more. Mr. America got some shots in on Show, but as he tried to slam Show, Haas and Benjamin broke it up. Mr. America wound up eating a chokeslam, and Show, Haas, and Benjamin left Angle, Lesnar, and Mr. America lying out cold to end the show.
