It's one of the few competitions which are good every single year. All 20 clubs can win from each other.

Nine clubs could go down today, but only two will. It's going to one helluva battle down at the bottom of the table to see who can survive! I'm going to predict Parma and Brescia for the drop. I see Siena defeating Atalanta and Fiorentina getting the better of Brescia - despite the form books I think having the crowd on their side will help Fiorentina.

I think Milan will lose their game at Udinesse. Psycologcally, they're fucked.

My money says Parma will go down.

Sunday 29th May
Bologna 0-0 Sampdoria
Fiorentina 3-0 Brescia
Inter Milan 0-0 Reggina
Juventus 4-2 Cagliari
Lecce 3-3 Parma
Messina 1-1 Livorno
Palermo 3-3 Lazio
Roma 0-0 Chievo
Siena 2-1 Atalanta
Udinese 1-1 AC Milan

10 matches .. 7 draws!!

Starting from the top..

Juventus finish 7 points ahead of AC Milan, no doubt down to Milan's erratic form during the run-in. Inter Milan are comfortable in 3rd. Udinese finish 4th with 62 points, just one point ahead of Sampdoria. So Sampdoria have to settle for the UEFA Cup along with Palermo.

Messina finish 7th after promotion last season - fantastic season for them! Then it's so close in midtable .. so close that it's impossible to draw a line between the teams who finished in the lower top-half and the teams who finished just outside the relegation zone. Roma 8th, Livorno 9th - both with 45 points. Lazio, Lecce, Cagliari, Reggina - 10th to 13th, all on 44 points. Siena and Chievo - both in relegation trouble throughout the season - 14th and 15th, 43 points.

Fiorentina had a task to do today - beat Brescia. Recent form was against them, but a good 3-0 win sealed their place in Serie A on GD. They've finished 17th on 42 points, with Bologna just above them also on 42 points. This means that we wave goodbye to Parma - another team to finish on 42 points, but crucially with a poor GD. Brescia end up 19th with 41 points and are also relegated. Atalanta end up with 35 points, adrift at the bottom.

The race to be promoted to Serie A isn't over just yet as there are two gamedays left in Serie B. Empoli (73) and Genoa (72) look very likely to be promoted, but Perugia and Torino are tied for 3rd place - both on 68 points. Treviso have 63 points and are still in with an outside chance of promotion, but I doubt they'll be able to reach the teams above them.

Interesting fact: The top 6 are the only teams with a positive GD.

Neil, after reading your post, I went to my sources for Football results, TV Teletext. And guess what ... Parma and Bologna need play-off matches to decide who'll relegate! So it still isn't over.

Not surprising seeing as 8th down to 19th were seperated by 4 points.

I'll say it again.. after 38 matches GD is enough to seperate two teams. I guess the Italian FA want more money as well.

Whats so special about Parma and Bologna anyway..? Shouldn't Fiorentina be included as well, seeing a they also finished on 42 points. This is just totally messed up now.

They all want more money. This week there's a very interesting article in a Dutch Football Magazine where I have a subscription on. It's all about Russians in Football and how they're taking over. Chelsea, Corinthians and CSKA Moscow have already been taken over and you don't have to be surprised if soon some others will be too.

Parma 1-2 Bologna
Parma 0-0 Fiorentina
Fiorentina 1-0 Bologna
Bologna 3-1 Parma
Fiorentina 2-1 Parma
Bologna 0-0 Fiorentina

Fiorentina gained 8 points, Bologna 7 and Parma 0.

Therefore, Parma are relegated because they gained the least amount of points - at least, that's the way I think it should be..

The Italian FA are screwed up now.
