Lucky for them, it was only in the National Cup.

Juventus are also out, after losing 2-0 at Atalanta. I'm guessing they definitely didn't have a full strength side out..

It was a weakened side by Juve, They dont need distractions, they need to keep the league form up! This was a report on it:

A depleted Juventus crashed out of the Italian Cup on Friday after their hosts and fellow Serie A side Atalanta dug deep to secure a 2-0 win.

Roma also fell out of the competition after a late goal from Norwegian striker Tor Andre Flo, his second of the match, secured a 2-1 win in the capital.

Juventus, who are leading the charge at the top of Serie A with a six-point lead over second placed AC Milan, were without a host of regular first team players who were being rested, and an inspired Atalanta took advantage.

Besides the bad form Emma was already referring to, the fact that it's only the National Cup will have influence too. Tems/players/coaches just don't find that as interesting as the league.

Its like the Carling Cup in England, top teams dont want the distraction of it.

And the Amstel Cup in Holland and the Spanish Cup in Spain. Every country has it.

What do you all think of the amount of matches a team has to play every season? Especially the big teams have a tough schedule:

- National League
- National Cup
- International matches
- CL matches

It's strange that the FA Cup should be held as such a big trophy in England, yet the counterparts in countries such as Spain and Italy aren't thought of highly at all.

I think a League, Cup, European Cup (as long as there aren't too many matches) and Internationals aren't too much for players. The Carling Cup is the unnecessary addition here.

The National Cup in Italy has provided us with some entertainment today!

Lecce 4-5 Udinese

Lecce went into a 3 goal lead after 31 minutes, but their lead lasted at 3 goals lasted 3 minutes. Udinese pulled it back to 3-2 just before half-time and then made it 3-3 after 57 minutes. Lecce regained their lead 9 minutes later, but it only lasted 12 minutes. Then, with 2 minutes left, Udinese took the lead for the first time in the match and held on for a fantastic win!
