Lazio - Roma got halted at the beginning of the second half. The current score was 0-0.
During the halftime break it was announced in the stadium that, during pre-game riots, a young football fan was hit by a police car and died. The police immediately denied this report and forced the stadium announcer to announce this in the stadium.
AS Roma fans got fed up with what happened and in a reaction to the news, several supporters ran on the field, asking the players to end the match immediately. Everything resulted in chaos and a huge discussion between the ref, Totti and the pissed off fans at first and later between all the players, the ref and the club staff. Eventually the ref decided to end the game. The game will most likely be rescheduled to a new date, although it's not certain yet whether it will be rescheduled for the full 90 minutes or for just the second half.
Right after the match there were surprisingly no more disputes or riots between the two club clans, as both carried the same hatred towards the police. Let's hope the rest of the night won't bring new (deadly) incidents. To be continued ... |
