Struggling Serie A side Empoli have signed former Aston Villa striker Bosko Balaban.

The 25-year-old Croatian international has agreed a three-year contract.

Balaban cost Villa £6m when he joined from Dynamo Zagreb in the summer of 2001, but only appeared three times for the club.

That might at least improve their goal production ... if that's going to keep them in the league ... that's another question.

I really dont rate Balaban and believe he was the biggest waste of space at Villa Park and I cant see him scoring too much..

His stongest points are good heading and physical strength ... something he'll be able to use more in Italy than in England.

He's not a bad player, just had a bad English adventure/experience.

I think that he got homesick and never started well at Aston Villa so I am sure he is glad he has a fresh start, good luck to him.
