| Rolen a Cardinal? Nooo! | | I know! I know! It was bound to happen, but why the Cardinals? I've heard so many great trade possibilities like Rolen for Griffey, but then Ed Wade goes and trades him for some no-namers. This reminds me of the Daulton/Marlins trade a few years ago. Being the BIGGEST Daulton fan on the planet, I musta moped for weeks. Oh well, football season is coming up. GO EAGLES! |

| I'll give you some consolation here. I'm from St. Louis and am a HUGE Cards fan. And believe me, you got good players. You just probably don't know about the players the Phillies got out of this.
Placido Polanco, I swear to you, can play any position you want hiim to play. Not likely pitching or catching. But anything other than that. And he plays every position well. He is a great hitter. He doesn't hit for power. But he gets on base, and frequently.
Mike Timlin is a solid relief pitcher. The Cardinals bullpen is one of the best in baseball. So anyone you get from there is not going to be bad at all.
And Bud Smith. Well this is not his best year so far. Keep in mind he's still a rookie. But he will be incredible in the future. He's very young but already has a no-hitter on his list of achievements.
You shouldn't be disappointed. You'll learn to love Polanco. I can only hope the same will happen with Timlin and Smith.
As for me, I'm very happy that Rolen is a Cardinal now. He makes the Cardinals lineup even more dangerous as far as hitting is concerned. And the 3 gold gloves for 3rd base is a positive stat that makes a positive impression. Plus, the Cards now have a permanent 3rd baseman in Rolen. This leaves Pujols available permanently in the outfield.
I love this trade! Walt Jocketty is doing a great job at the deadline. |

| lol FuMeNDD, I was just venting about losing Rolen. I think the players we got from you guys should be good for us. I'm just pissed out at our General Manager Ed Wade. He is, by far, one of the worst GM's in baseball. He has no clue what he's doing. I would kill for a GM like yours on the Phils. He built a great team without going on a huge ass spending spree like the Yanks. I just hope Wade can learn from the Cards.
Oh and btw, I missed the news tonight, how did you guys do with Rolen? I know the Phils got bombed by the Giants. |

| Well on Tuesday, the Cards won 5-1. Rolen hit a triple to dead center field. Wednesday was not so good, though. I think the Cards lost 7-5, or something like that.
And when I see the Phillies highlights on Baseball Tonight, I look at the stats when they show the score and check on Polanco. Eeehhh, 1 for 8 in his first two games. Not the best start for Placido. But he'll heat up, mark my words. |

| Ed Wade is an idiot. He got nothing for Curt Schilling and he's the best pitcher in baseball. Phillies Organization the worst in baseball. |

| Whoa Whoa Whoa Whoa there Jimmyslvetobrit. Boy are you wrong! Number one the Schilling trade was a great trade. In that trade we got not only Travis Lee, but we got a prospect pitcher named Vincente Padilla. Heard of him? Yea, the all-star. Hell, he may not be Schilling's heir to the throne, but he's damn good. And then your other little comment about the Phillies being the worst. You better get your facts straight buddy. They may be having a slump this year, but to go and call them the WORST organization in baseball is crazy! Get your facts straight before you go and but your foot in your mouth. Cuz' if you don't I know a lot of Phillies fans who will be sure to put that foot in your ass. |

| lmao I just read my post above and realized I came off like an asshole. Sorry Jimmyslvetobrit for being such so anal. I just get pissed off when people say something about my Philadelphia teams. Believe me, I've got into a lot of trouble in my past 16 years defending Philadelphia lol Sorry again |

| You're right. It could be worse. Your hometown team could be the Devil Rays or the Expos. So don't feel too bad. |
