Default Roland Garros 2006

We shall have a beautiful summer this year. Not because of the weather , but because of the several big sportevents.

Grand Prix, World Cup 2006, Wimbledon and ..

ROLAND GARROS

The Grand Slam, which is so precious to Roger Federer, 'cause it's the only one he hasn't won yet. Today he played his 1st Round match against Hartfield, a player from Argentina. As expected, a difficult first opponent. Federer came behind 3-0 in the first set, but took it with 7-5 in the end. The 2nd set brought us a tie-break and the 3rd set was for Federer as well. Straight sets for the man from Switzerland, but it was tough.

Tommy Robredo (seed #7) advances as well. I'm curious to see Nalbandian & Nadal.

Marat Safin's little sister, Safina, is an outsider to look out for. She had a fantastic preparation in Rome where she defeated both Dementieva & Clijsters! She won her 1st Round match with 6-3 and 7-5 from Zvonareva.

Can anyone stop Mr Federer? I hope Nadal can. I find the mens game really boring these days.

Yes! I have a feeling this edition of the French Open won't be his, again. When he plays Wimbledon on the other hand ...

Rafael Nadal is currently in a fantastic form and he's the favorite for me to win this Grand Slam, for the 2nd time in a row.

I remember Nadal at Wimbledon, I had high hopes for him there but Grass isnt his thing. Wimbledon wont be the same this year. Is it delayed or anything because of the World Cup?

I totally didn't realise this was starting..

Henman 6-3 6-4 4-6 6-4 Carlsen

Not that he'll do much anyway.

Andy Murray (GB) v (25) Gael Monfils (Fra)

Seems like a tough draw for Murray, up against a home player. *crosses fingers*

As far as I know it's the same period as other years, only now we have the World Cup 2006. It's a pity I can't follow as many matches as usual. If I'm correct, there's two weeks between the Final at Roland Garros and the first day at Wimbledon. Only two weeks! There's a Dutch grass tournament in that two weeks though.

I wont actually get to see Wimbledon or well as I think of it.. many tennis tournaments. I will keep myself updated and hope Serena can mount some sort of comeback sometime soon but I am not hopeful.

Eurosport broadcasts 100 hours of Roland Garros and Wimbledon will be broadcasted many hours as well. Jealous?!

Talking about Serena, how are things with her?

My favorite Female player is focussed & determined to win another Grand Slam.

Lets put it this way.. Serena has pulled out of Wimbledon already

She is also out of the French Open. Serena has hardly played any tennis this year due to a really bad knee injury. She has only played in the Aussie Open this year. That was her only tournament.
