RAW preview 3/25

The sports-entertainment world changes forever this Monday, when World Wrestling Federation co-owners Vince McMahon and Ric Flair draft the World Wrestling Federation Superstars who will comprise their RAW and SmackDown! rosters.
This moment will be a defining moment in the history of sports entertainment -- the careers of every superstar in the business hang in the balance! Who will comprise Vince's SmackDown! crew? Who will comprise Flair's RAW crew? Will there be any last-second surprises? Find out this Monday!

Also this Monday, the Undisputed World Wrestling Federation Championship will be on the line in a most unique Triple Threat Match, with huge ramifications. Undisputed Champion Triple H will defend the title against both Chris Jericho and Stephanie McMahon! And if Triple H beats Stephanie, then the Billion-Dollar Princess must leave the Federation!

It will be a night to remember this coming Monday, live from Penn State, when the Extension draft and a Championship Match highlight RAW, live at 9/8 CT on TNN!

Making it a Triple Threat Match was actually the only solution they could find ... this way HHH can retain his title by pinning Jericho and that way he can't pin Stephanie so she can stay in the WWF ...

RAW results -- March 25, 2002

RAW opened with World Wrestling Federation Chief Executive Officer Linda McMahon addressing superstars from Federation studios in Stamford, CT. Linda explained that during the night, Vince McMahon and Ric Flair would have 10 draft choices each. Following the broadcast, each side would have 20 lottery picks that would be made live on WWF.com!

However, Linda continued, there were some stipulations. Due to the Tripe Threat match later that evening for the Federation Championship, neither Triple H, Chris Jericho nor Stephanie McMahon is eligible for the draft. Also, because of a clause in his contract, Stone Cold Steve Austin could not be drafted. The Rattlesnake is therefore deemed a free agent who is eligible to side with either Flair's RAW or Vince's SmackDown!.

Following the amazing opening fireworks, Tazz arrived at the ring to face Mr. Perfect in singles action. Before the match began, Mr. Perfect addressed the crowd and said that they would see the perfect pick. He suddenly dropped the mic and assaulted Tazz.
Perfect nailed the PerfectPlex, but Tazz got his foot on the rope to avoid the pinfall. Tazz then mounted some offense in a hurry by latching on the Tazzmission and forcing Mr. Perfect to tap out! Tazz then took the mic and said that the perfect pick has become just another victim!

Ric Flair and Arn Anderson were shown in their war room discussing their strategy. Flair seemed confident that he could handle the draft. In Mr. McMahon's war room, Vince set down a file he was studying and confidently set out to make the first pick in the extension draft!

Mr. McMahon came to a podium set up onstage in front of the TitanTron at Penn State University. With a roomful of anxious superstars watching backstage on the monitor, Mr. McMahon chose the first individual in the history of the Federation to be drafted: "I Vince McMahon choose … The Rock!" Vince said.
Cameras caught a ticked-off Rock spring from his backstage seat and stomp out to face Mr. McMahon.

The Brahma Bull arrived on stage to a thunderous ovation. Mr. McMahon said that there would be some new rules for SmackDown!. He said that on SmackDown, The Rock could never touch him, he could never talk about putting things up people's candy asses and he could never use the phrase, "It doesn't matter." This elicited angry boos and chants from the crowd. But Mr. McMahon continued.

Mr. McMahon reminded The Rock that he had brought the People's Champion into this world, and he could take him out of it.
Vince turned to leave, but The Rock stopped him. The Great One said that seeing as how this would be his very last RAW, he wanted to go out with a bang. The Rock reminded Vince of the history that he had made on RAW. On that show, he had won the Federation title and teamed with Mick Foley to form the Rock and Sock connection. The Rock asked if Mr. McMahon really wanted to take him away from this. Mr. McMahon began to answer, but The Rock said it doesn't matter what he things.

The Rock said that Vince didn't make The Rock. It was the people that made The Rock. Speaking of the people, The Rock said that when you mess with The Rock on SmackDown!, you mess with the people. The Rock said that Penn State has a saying. He screamed, "We are," and the crowd shouted back, "Penn State!"
But The Rock said that tonight there would be a different saying at PSU and arenas across the nation. The Rock told one side of the arena to scream, "You are" while the other side responded, "An asshole!" The crowd roared this for several moments while Mr. McMahon stormed off. The Rock finished things off and the cameras went to break with Ric Flair readying his first pick.

The Nature Boy came out following the break and said that despite his personal differences, he was picking man who is the cornerstone of the Federation. With that, Flair picked the Undertaker!

All eyes backstage fell on the American Bad Ass, who threw a chair against the wall and stormed out of the room.

In his war room, Vince threw up his hands in disgust after seeing the pick. Kurt Angle walked in and said his feelings were hurt that Angle hadn't been picked first. Vince said that he threw Flair a swerve and Flair had tossed one right back. Take stormed in and asked what Vince was going to do about Flair drafting the Dead Man.

Vince promised to make things right. Taker said that this is one time that Vince had better keep his word.

Before more picks were announced, a tag team match took place with Edge and DDP taking on Christian and Booker T. Booker and Edge started the action. Booker nailed a kick to Edge's face when Christian distracted his brother. Christian tagged in and suffered a stiff spinebuster from Edge. Booker and DDP entered the ring. DDP landed the Diamond Cutter soon after but the pinfall was broken up by Christian. Then, while Edge and Christian brawled outside the ring, Booker nailed a scissors kick

and covered DDP for the 1-2-3!

Backstage, Angle read off a list of his accomplishments from a press kit before Vince cut him off. Vince asked if Flair would pick the nWo next. Angle worried that he might be picked next because Flair didn't want the poison that is the nWo. Vince agreed and made Angle the third overall pick of the draft. Angle exulted but reiterated that he should have been picked first.

Flair came back out to make his second pick of the night. He said that he would work diligently to bring Stone Cold to RAW.

The Nature Boy went on to pick the collective unit of the nWo!

Vince couldn't believe what he was seeing on the television back in his office. He exploded in a rage and said that Flair would not get Austin. He promised to sign him somehow. Angle implored Vince to calm down. Angle said that to throw Flair off his game, Vince should choose someone who hasn't been around for a while, but who would come back bigger and stronger than ever. Vince smiled and selected his third pick of the night: Chris Benoit!
The nWo confronted their new boss in his war room.

X-Pac said that Mr. McMahon brought them in and that's who they work for. Flair said otherwise, but Nash said X-Pac was right. Arn Anderson came in and said Flair needed to make his next pick and Flair asked the nWo to leave. They refused, saying nobody orders them around. Flair simply said he would have his next pick come in and deal with them. Flair's pick: Kane! The nWo heard this and quickly shuffled out of the room.

Before Mr. McMahon could make the seventh pick of the draft, Trish

took on Ivory in the ring. Ivory took control by pulling Trish off the mat by the hair and slamming her down. Soon after though, Trish hit a modified hurracanrana off the top rope and followed with a bulldog to claim the win!

Backstage, the superstars talked about the developments so far. Mr. McMahon came out to the chorus started by The Rock earlier in the night.

Vince needed to shout over the roaring crowd and announced that he chose Hollywood Hulk Hogan!

Ric Flair announced the eighth pick of the draft following commercial. Flair selected Intercontinental Champion Rob Van Dam! Vince was ticked because he wanted RVD for SmackDown!. Vince said he wanted the IC Title to be on SmackDown!. Kurt said that he would get the title that night by defeating RVD!

Backstage, The Rock and Hollywood Hogan stumbled into each other. Hogan said that the people made The Rock, but they also made Hogan. The Rock agreed. Hogan said that since they were both headed to SmackDown!, the two should join up and take on the entire nWo! The Rock agreed to go out with a bang!

Vince came out and chose with the ninth pick of the draft, the Tag Team Champions Billy and Chuck along with their stylist, Rico!

Following a break, Hogan and The Rock came down to the ring and faced the trio of X-Pac, Scott Hall and Kevin Nash. Hogan started things off with X-Pac and immediately threw the nWo member over the top rope and out of the ring! Scott Hall stepped in and was taken down by Hogan. Hall flicked his toothpick into Hogan's face and tagged in Nash. Nash overpowered Hogan then tagged in X-Pac. Scott Hall entered soon after and was clotheslined to the canvas. Nash and Rock tagged in and the People's Champion cleaned house

by knocking X-Pac to the mat below and Rock Bottoming Nash!

Things started to go downhill from there, however, as the nWo came together and ganged up on Rock and Hogan. Suddenly, the place exploded as Kane arrived on the scene

and helped even the score. He put an exclamation point on the action with a vicious chokeslam to Scott Hall! The nWo claimed victory due to the interference, but Hogan, The Rock and Kane stood tall in the ring when all was said and done.

Backstage, the Federation co-owners came face to face in Flair's war room as Vince angrily lashed out at Flair. Vince wanted to know what was going on in Flair's mind. Flair said he didn't need to tell Vince anything. With that, he selected Booker T as his next pick. Vince fired back that he was selecting Edge! Flair then picked Big Show and Vince responded by taking Rikishi! Flair said he hoped to see Rikishi stick his big ass in Vince's face again! Vince steamed and shoved Flair to the ground before leaving. Arn Anderson had to restrain Flair form attacking Vince.

Team Xtreme arrived at the ring for Jeff Hardy's singles match against Billy, who was accompanied by Chuck and Rico. Jeff took down Billy early with a hurricane DDT and went for the Swanton Bomb. But Chuck managed to distract Jeff long enough for Billy to recover and avoid the move. It went for not, though, as Jeff hit the finisher moments later and won the match!

The next pick of the draft was Ric Flair's. He chose half the most dominating tag team in Federation history: Bubba Ray Dudley.
In retaliation, Flair chose D-Von! The Dudleys steamed in the locker room then hugged before wishing each other luck and walking out.

The European Championship went on the line next with Rikishi taking on William Regal. Before the match even started, Brock Lesnar appeared out of nowhere and manhandled Rikishi!

Lesnar tossed the massive Rikishi around like a piece of paper then stood with his arms raised as manager Paul Heyman beamed beside him! Rikishi was so decimated that the match could not take place.

At WWF New York, Federation Women's Champion said she was still waiting to see where the divas ended up. She said that regardless, she would be appearing on both shows.

Lesnar's display impressed Vince who came down and chose the massive young superstar. Flair came out, however, and pointed out that it is not Vince's pick. Vince offered to give Flair the next two picks, but Flair refused and chose Brock Lesnar! Vince said that since Flair chose a young man with a ton of strength and potential, he would do the same, so he chose the World's Strongest Man, Mark Henry!

Flair's turn came up next and he chose William Regal, who was shown to be less than happy about his fate from his backstage position. With Vince's final pick of the night, he chose the Hardcore Champion, Maven. Flair decided that his final selection of the night would be Lita!

Vince scoffed at Flair's final pick and accused the co-owner of making the decision based on his own personal affection for Lita. Flair responded by saying that the people at PSU had gotten it right all night with their chant, which soon began louder than ever!

Kurt Angle tried to bring the Intercontinental Championship to SmackDown! next when he took on Rob Van Dam. The match got off to a fast and furious start. Angle slowed the pace down with several German suplexes to RVD. RVD managed to counter this though and managed to hit the Rolling Thunder. RVD continued to impress by dropping Angle with a high kick then mounting the turnbuckle! But Angle managed to get out of the ring before the big damage can be done. When they reentered the ring, Angle shoved the red, who took a tough fall to the canvas. Angle then caught RVD in the ankle lock, but the ref called for the bell and disqualified Angle!

Suddenly, Edge dashed to the ring and beat on Angle! Referees streamed to the ring to break up the melee!

Backstage, Michael Cole caught up with Stephanie who was preparing for her shot at the Federation Championship. She said that she wasn't worried about not being on TV after the night because she would claim the title and end up on both RAW and SmackDown!

The Undisputed Championship match came up next as Stephanie McMahon entered the ring first followed by Chris Jericho and the champion, Triple H.

Under the rules of the match, all three competed in the ring at the same time. The first to score a pinfall or submission wins the match.

The Game and Y2J clashed first, with Triple H tossing Jericho from the ring. Triple H grabbed Stephanie and attempted to Pedigree her, but Jericho pulled her out of the ring at the last second. Soon after, everyone reentered the ring and Jericho ended up being catapulted into Stephanie in the corner. Stephanie, in turn, collapsed head first onto Y2J's groin!

Jericho and Stephanie teamed up on The Game from there. They each took turns hitting The Game's weak quad. But Triple H managed to kick Y2J away and into Stephanie. Stephanie slapped Y2J across the face and the two exchanged heated words. Soon after, the two came to blows again as Jericho locked Steph in the Walls of Jericho! She nearly tapped out, but Hunter avoided that by knocking Y2J to the outside. He then tried to Pedigree Steph, but Y2J broke things up.

Moments later, Y2J and Triple H each grabbed a championship belt and clocked eeach other with it! Stephanie saw the opportunity and covered the listless Triple H, who somehow kicked out! Steph then covered Jericho but Y2J also avoided the pinfall! Shortly after, Triple H decked his ex with a stiff clothesline, but Y2J put The Game in the Walls of Jericho! The Game hollered in pain until Steph climbed on Jericho's back to force him to release the hold.

Triple H hit the Pedigree on Jericho and would have gotten the pin but Steph broke it up! The Game turned to his ex, whipped her off the ropes and planted her with a stiff spinebuster! The champion covered Stephanie and retained his title

while forcing Stephanie to leave Federation television!

The game knelt beside his ex wife and waved goodbye as the astonished Billion-Dollar Princess stared in bewilderment!

As security started to pry Stephanie out of the ring and take her out of the building, The Game closed RAW by leading the crowd in singing, "Na na na na. Na na na na. Hey hey hey, goodbye!"

DING DONG ... THE BITCH IS GONE, NOW IT'S ALL ABOUT THE GAME

RAW results 4/1

A new era began in the World Wrestling Federation on April 1, 2002, with the first Ric Flair-led RAW, complete with new logos, new music, a new set and a new World Wrestling Federation Championship belt!

As the show opened, Flair was seen holding the new World Wrestling Federation Championship belt.

Flair said he would do anything in his power to make RAW the best show ever -- including doing everything within his power to make sure that Stone Cold Steve Austin signed with RAW! Flair said it would also be his honor to present the new title to Triple H!

The sold-out crowd at the Pepsi Arena rose to its feet as Intercontinental Champion Rob Van Dam headed to the ring.

RVD defended his title against Booker T. RVD wore Booker down with kicks and elbows, but Booker roared back with kicks and slams of his own. With Booker in control, the fans started an "RVD" chant. RVD battled back, hitting Booker with a top-rope kick for a two-count. Booker went for a scissors kick on RVD, but RVD reversed, and then went for Rolling Thunder but missed. Booker hit a Spinerooni, and then nailed a scissors kick, but RVD kicked out at two!

Booker chopped away at Van Dam, and the men traded near-falls. Booker hit a kick to RVD's face, and then went for a top-rope superplex. But Van Dam knocked Booker down, and nailed the Five-Star Frog Splash! RVD then pinned Booker for the win and a successful title defense!

As Van Dam celebrated after the match, he was blindsided by Eddie Guerrero, who downed him with a powerbomb, and then hit a frog splash of his own on the Intercontinental Champion!

Suddenly, Vince McMahon appeared at ringside and grabbed a microphone, to a chorus of boos. Vince said he didn't want to interrupt anything, but he was out there for one reason -- to sign Stone Cold to an exclusive contract on SmackDown! Vince said that if he knew Austin, the Rattlesnake would definitely want to hear what Vince had to say. With that in mind, Vince introduced the hottest free agent in the history of the Federation -- Stone Cold.

A few moments passed, but nothing happened -- and Ric Flair sent the program to commercial while Vince was still talking!
When the show came back from commercial, security was out at ringside to confront Vince McMahon. Vince said he had asked for Stone Cold -- not for Ric Flair's security. Vince said the guards were pretty smart to stay outside of the ring, and if they wanted him, they should come in the ring to get him. Vince said he wouldn't leave the ring until Austin signed an exclusive SmackDown! contract.
Suddenly, Ric Flair's music sounded, and out came the Nature Boy to the stage! Vince said that there was an old expression -- money talks, and bulls**t walks, so tonight, he was doing the talking, and Flair would be doing the walking! Vince said Austin would sign his contract, and there was nothing Flair could do about it.

Flair said that unless Vince bought a ticket, McMahon would have a small window of opportunity to get his ass out of the door before security took over. Flair said that as far as money talking, his new set on RAW was proof positive that he was sparing no expense. Vince said he wasn't leaving the ring, and there was nothing Flair's security or Flair could do about it. Vince reminded Flair about the last time the Nature Boy had tried to do something -- last week on SmackDown!, when Vince beat him 1-2-3!

Vince again called for Austin to come out, saying Flair was preventing Stone Cold from hearing what Vince had to say. Flair walked towards the ring, and told Vince to get a grip. Flair then conducted an informal survey of the crowd -- and they overwhelmingly wanted to see Austin on RAW! Flair said that because it was a new era, he was all dressed up, and didn't want to have to take off his coat and kick Vince's ass! Vince left the ring, and said that neither Flair nor anyone else was big enough or bad enough to take Vince out of the ring tonight.
Suddenly, Big Show's music sounded, and the 500-pounded headed to the ring! Flair welcomed Vince to RAW, as Show motioned for Vince to leave the ring. Vince shook his head no, as the crowd chanted "Na na na na goodbye!" Vince told Show he knew who he was, but Show should remember that he was Vince McMahon! Show then grabbed Vince by the throat, picked him up, and carried him from the ring!
During the break, Show -- still carrying Vince on his back -- threw Vince out of the arena!

Next up, European Champion William Regal took on Spike Dudley in a non-title match. Prior to the bout, the ref checked Regal for brass knucks, but found none -- only to have Regal take brass knucks out of his armpit and put them under a turnbuckle! But moments later, referee Nick Patrick took the knucks -- which he had seen Regal put there -- and put them in his pocket! Regal did not see the ref do this! As the match began, Regal dominated the smaller Spike, but the runt of the Dudley litter would not stay down. Regal brutalized Spike with forearms to the head and a variety of suplexes. The European Champion focused his attack on Spike's neck. Spike fought back with headbutts, and Regal was soon looking for the knucks, but couldn't find them! Spike then caught Regal with the Dudley Dogg

and pinned him for the upset win!

The nWo walked backstage, and couldn't believe how Flair treated Vince. The men said they hoped Flair signed Austin, so they could get their hands on him. X-Pac said he also couldn't wait to get his hands on Kane. Suddenly, they found the vacant APA office, and saw that no one was there. They straightened up a bit and made it into an nWo clubhouse. The trio broke open some of the APA's beer and made themselves at home.

Backstage, Bradshaw told Jacqueline how much he missed Faarooq. Crash walked up to the two, getting in Jackie's face, and then telling Bradshaw that there was a problem -- the nWo had taken over Bradshaw's office. Bradshaw said the hell they did, and then he knocked Crash down and set off to solve the problem. Jackie laughed at Crash before walking away.

Trish
was talking backstage, when she was approached by Terri, who was reading the new Divas magazine. Terri said Trish had had a nasty attitude since Trish landed the cover of the magazine. Terri said she was the queen of all divas! The two argued until they were approached by Flair, who said he felt some tension, and it needed to be resolved with a match tonight, with the two wrestling in bikinis! Flair said that because they were acting like children, it should be a Paddle on a Pole match!

Flair said the first one to get the paddle would be the winner, and then would get to paddle the loser!

Coach interviewed Debra, who was standing outside Stone Cold's locker room.

Coach asked Debra what Austin's decision would be, and she said that Steve had not yet made up his mind, but one way or another, Austin would make his decision tonight!
The nWo were spraypainting the APA's former locker room when they were approached by Bradshaw, who was irate!

The tough Texan kicked all three of their asses, until he was met by a big boot by Nash, and a chair attack by X-Pac! Nash said now he could have his office back.

The Hardcore Championship was on the line as Raven defended against Bubba Ray Dudley -- on his own for the first time in seven years. Raven brought his shopping cart full of weapons with him to ringside. Outside the ring, Bubba did some juggling with oranges, and then made orange juice on Raven's head! Raven brutalized Bubba with various weapons, but couldn't keep Dudley down. Bubba downed Raven with a Samoan drop, and abused him with a garbage-can lid. Bubba went to the second rope, and Raven downed him with a fire extinguisher. Bubba recovered and hit a second-rope splash on the champion. Bubba set up a chair in the ring, and Raven dropped him face-first onto it! Raven went to DDT him on the chair, but Bubba hit the Bubbabomb and pinned him to win the Hardcore Championship!

After the bout, Bubba screamed that the win was for D-Von!

In a limo outside, Vince talked on his cell phone. Vince said that just because Show threw him out, it didn't mean he was leaving. Vince said that Austin would sign his contract before the night was over.

Flair headed to the ring carrying the new Undisputed Championship. Flair said he's said it 1,000 times, but this time he couldn't say it more meaningfully. Flair said the title was the most coveted trophy in pro sports, and it was his honor to present the new title to the Undisputed Champion, Triple H. The Nature Boy said The Game came back from a near career-ending injury and won the title at WrestleMania. He asked the fans to welcome The Game.

Instead of Triple H, however, out came the Undertaker -- Flair's No. 1 draft pick. Taker grabbed a mic and stared down Flair. The American Badass asked if this is how it was going to be -- Flair would draft him No. 1 so he could embarrass Taker whenever he wanted. Taker asked if Flair expected him to sit back and watch Flair give the Undisputed Championship to Triple H.

Taker filled Flair in on a few facts. First, he pointed out that he had beaten Flair at WrestleMania X8. Taker said that one year prior at WrestleMania, he had done the exact same thing to Triple H. Taker said that he had beaten Triple H's ass every time they had fought. Taker said that now, Flair expected him to sit back while he gave the title to Triple H. Taker questioned if Flair was trying to show him up and disrespect him. Taker said that if Flair drafted him No. 1, he would make every day of his life a WrestleMania moment. Taker said it was time for him to live up to his promise, and then took off his jacket.

As Taker took the jacket off, Triple H's music sounded, and down to the ring walked the Undisputed Champion. The Game stared right at Undertaker the whole way to the ring. As he got into the ring, Triple H took his two title belts and handed them to Flair. The Game took a microphone, and told Taker that he was right -- he did beat him at WrestleMania X-Seven. But Triple H said that was then, and this is now. Triple H said that right now, he was the Undisputed Champion, and he had 15 pounds of gold that said Taker couldn't beat his ass again! The Game got right in Taker's face as he spoke.

Taker asked if that was right, and challenged The Game to put his money where his mouth was.

Taker suggested that they tangle at Backlash for the Undisputed Championship, and Triple H agreed! But The Game added that he saw no point in waiting -- and he said they should do it right here, right now.

Triple H took his shirt off and was ready to fight, but Taker just stared at him and said Backlash would be just fine.

Taker then grabbed the new title from Flair and presented it to The Game, suggesting that Triple H hold onto the title while he still could.

In tag action, the Hardy Boyz took on Mr. Perfect and Boss Man. Perfect and Boss Man isolated Matt, until Matt finally got the tag to Jeff! The Hardys hit Poetry in Motion on Perfect, knocking him from the ring. Boss Man hit a sidewalk slam on Jeff for a two-count, and set Jeff up top for a superplex. But Matt knocked Boss Man down and hit a Twist of Fate. Jeff followed up with a Swanton on Boss Man for the pinfall and the win!

As Matt and Jeff celebrated, Brock Lesnar attacked them from behind and laid Matt out with vicious power moves! Jeff went up top for a hurricanrana, but Brock planted him with a triple powerbomb! Heyman and Brock celebrated after the assault!

The "Paddle on a Pole" bikini match was up next, as the sultry Trish Stratus took on the seductive Terri.

Both divas were decked out in incredible bikinis! Trish hit a bulldog on Terri, and grabbed the paddle to win the match.

After the bout, Trish was about to spank Terri -- but instead, she was attacked by Molly Holly! After laying out Trish, Molly threw Terri to the outside, and then broke the wooden paddle right over Trish's head!

Back in the parking area, Mr. McMahon spoke on his cell phone, and said he had faith Stone cold would be out soon. He said he had tried to get back in the building, but the Big Show still wouldn't let him in. Vince said that somehow, he would get back in the building to make his case to the Rattlesnake.

Flair was on the phone in his office, and was approached by Stone Cold. Austin shook Flair's hand, and asked if Flair had time to talk. Austin asked why Flair wouldn't let Vince in the building. Flair said he didn't want Vince to screw around, and Austin said he wanted Vince in the building. Stone Cold said it was only fair to let Vince have his say. Austin said that after the next match, he would go with Flair and Vince to the ring, and would make up his mind tonight.

Next up, Kane took on X-Pac of the nWo -- his former Tag Team Championship partner.

X-Pac was accompanied to ringside by Hall and Nash. X-Pac attacked Kane from behind right after the opening bell, and brutalized the Big Red Machine with kicks. But Kane used his size to his advantage, and soon had X-Pac reeling. Kane press-slammed X-Pac down, but X-Pac soon met him with an enziguiri. The Big Red Machine roared back, and soon went for the top-rope clothesline. But Hall distracted Kane, and X-Pac dropkicked him from the top rope to the outside.

With X-Pac distracting the ref, Hall attacked Kane. X-Pac leapt to the outside, but Kane caught him, only to be met by a Nash boot to the face. X-Pac faked a knee injury to distract the ref as Hall and Nash went to work on Kane on the outside.
With the Big Red Machine back in the ring, X-Pac went to work. X-Pac soon went for a pin, but Kane picked out, throwing X-Pac all the way to the outside! X-Pac hit a top-rope dropkick, and continued with the kicks. Hall held Kane as X-Pac nailed the Bronco Buster. But Kane soon rose to his feet and clotheslined X-Pac down, soon hitting a powerslam as well. Kane went against the ropes, but Hall pulled his leg. Kane then went to the outside and punched Hall, and then went up top and hit a clothesline on X-Pac. As Kane went for the chokeslam, he was attacked by Hall and Nash, ending the bout in a disqualification. But Bradshaw ran down to save Kane, and the two superstars cleaned house on the nWo!

Backstage, security allowed Vince back into the arena.

Flair was in the ring when the show came back from commercial, holding a contract in his hand. The Nature Boy was preparing to introduce Austin, but instead, out strutted Mr. McMahon, holding a contract of his own.

Vince said that Flair seemed a little upset to see him. He asked if it was because Austin himself had insisted on Vince's presence. Vince asked Flair if he was prepared to lose again. Vince said Austin was looking for leadership and business savvy. Vince reminded everyone that it was his intellectual sperm that fertilized the egg that became sports entertainment. Vince said it was his business acumen where he could see that fans would assemble and watch mega-events on Pay-Per-View. Vince said that was him, not Flair. Vince said it was he who recognized that the Federation wouldn't just be a national phenomenon, but a global brand of entertainment. Vince said that those were the things that Stone Cold was contemplating. Vince said it was also him that realized that the Ringmaster wouldn't cut it, and introduced Stone Cold to the world. Vince said Stone Cold would sign his contract -- and suddenly, out came the Texas Rattlesnake!
Vince said he liked Austin's T-shirt, and Austin said he didn't give a rat's ass about Vince's intellectual sperm. He asked Vince if he had a contract for him, and Vince said yes. He asked Vince if he wanted him to walk away from Flair. Austin asked Vince to say something, but the people wouldn't let Vince speak, continually saying, "What?" The crowd started chanting "A$$hole," and Austin pointed it out!
The Rattlesnake said that Vince had made his life a living hell for years, and asked if Vince expected him to forget about that. Stone Cold then walked over to Flair and asked if he wanted him to sign the contract. Flair said yes, and then Austin asked if Vince wanted him to sign his contract, and Vince said yes.

Austin flipped off Vince, and said that he was intrigued by both offers. Austin said he respected what both men had done in the business. He said he had a lot of success when Vince was the boss. Austin held out his hand for Vince to shake -- he said he would sign Vince's contract and that they had a deal! The two men shook hands, and Vince said Austin wouldn't regret it.

Austin went over to Flair and said no disrespect, but business was business. He shook Flair's hand, and then asked Vince if he had a pen. Vince got the pen, and Vince said he hoped there were no hard feelings with Flair now that Austin had seen the light. Flair said he would always hate Vince.

Austin took Vince's contract and asked where he signed at. Vince showed him, and Austin asked if it was all official. Stone Cold said he had one other thing to tell Vince about the contract -- April Fools! Austin then gave Vince a Stone Cold Stunner, and Flair celebrated that Austin would be on RAW! Flair got a couple of beers, and the two men toasted. Flair screamed "Woo!" and poured a beer on Vince, but Austin held out his beer can to toast, but Flair was too busy celebrating

to toast Austin, so Austin gave Flair a Stunner!

Austin then signed Flair's contract for RAW! The Rattlesnake celebrated his new contract with a few beers, and with another Stunner on Vince! Austin downed another celebratory beer as RAW went off the air!

Default RAW results for 5/20/2002

The May 20 episode of RAW opened with a special tribute to "British Bulldog" Davey Boy Smith, a former WWE Superstar who passed away this past weekend at the age of 39. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

As the show opened live from the Pyramid in Memphis, Tenn., Jim Ross and Memphis' own Jerry "The King" Lawler to what promised to be an explosive broadcast -- just one night after Judgment Day. Rob Van Dam was heading to the ring as the show kicked off, but he was attacked from behind by the new Undisputed WWE Champion, the Undertaker! Taker brutalized RVD, tossing him into the ringpost and knocking him out cold.

Taker got into the ring to a chorus of boos, and then went back outside the ring and continued his assault on Van Dam, who was bleeding by this point. He tossed RVD into the ring steps, and then picked up the ring steps and cracked the former Intercontinental Champion in the head with them!

The champion climbed back into the ring, as J.R. speculated that Taker was sending a message to the entire WWE. Taker grabbed a mic and asked if he now had the people's attention. He said he wanted to make it known that he was the new WWE Champion, and as the champion, he had the right to come down the ramp first and start RAW.

Taker said now that he was champion, there would be some changes around here. When he felt like he had something to say, he would come out and say it, and if someone happened to be standing in the ring, they had two choices -- they could move aside, or stay and get their ass kicked. Taker said RVD had been re-acquainted with the No. 1 rule in this company -- you will respect the Undertaker.

Referees continued to check on RVD as Taker told the crowd that if anyone had a different opinion, they should go ask Hollywood Hulk Hogan what it's like to disrespect the Undertaker. Taker said he'd done exactly what he said he would do. As RVD tried to climb into the ring, Taker kicked him away.

The Dead Man said he would beat Hogan and take his title, and that's what he did. Taker said he'd taken Hogan's pride and killed Hulkamania. He told Hulkamania to rest in peace. The crowd chanted for Hogan, but Taker said Hogan wasn't going to come. Taker said he had it on good authority that Thursday on SmackDown!, Hulk Hogan would announce his retirement. Taker said he will expect a thank-you for allowing him to walk out of the ring last night to make that announcement. Taker said Hogan was thisclose to never walking again.

Taker said he was getting tired of saying it, but the people will respect the Undertaker. He said he didn't care if you were a legend like Hogan or a punk like RVD -- if you cross Taker's path, you will pay the consequences.

RVD kept trying to climb into the ring, and finally made it in to a huge "RVD" chant. Taker said some people were thick between the ears, and he wanted Van Dam to know that he asked for this. Taker went to hit RVD, but Van Dam turned the tide and knocked Taker down! Van Dam brutalized the Dead Man until referees pulled the superstars apart. An irate Taker struggled to his feet as the crowd cheered for Van Dam!

RVD ran back to the ring, where he and Taker slugged it out. RVD hit a second-rope kick to knock Taker down, and then nailed the Five-Star Frog Splash on the WWE Champion! Referees again pulled the men apart as the crowd continued to cheer for the bloody Van Dam! Taker left the ring and walked away, clearly shaken!

Ric Flair and Arn Anderson talked backstage, and Flair said he had big plans for when Stone Cold Steve Austin arrived there tonight. Suddenly, an irate Taker barged in, saying he wanted a match with RVD tonight! Flair said he would do one better -- he would make it a match for the WWE Championship! Undertaker didn't seem thrilled at the prospect of having to put his title on the line, but Flair convinced him he could do it. As Taker left, Flair said he would throw Austin a curveball the Rattlesnake wouldn't expect in a million years!

The first match on RAW pitted the Hardy Boyz against Big Show and X-Pac of the nWo. Show and X-Pac were accompanied by the newest nWo member, Booker T. Booker got involved early, pulling Matt Hardy's leg as he ran into the ropes. X-Pac and Show isolated Matt, but X-Pac showboated too much after a Bronco Buster, allowing Matt to powerbomb him and tag in Jeff. Jeff was a house afire, and the Hardys used double-team moves to gain the advantage. But the 500-pound Show downed both men with a massive clothesline, and dominated the two brothers. Show soon got caught on the top rope, and Booker went to kick Matt, but instead hit Show! Moments later, X-Pac hit the X-Factor on Jeff, but Goldust -- dressed as Elvis Presley -- distracted the ref. X-Pac went to se what was going on, only to be rolled up by Jeff for the pinfall! X-Pac and Show yelled at Booker about Goldust after the match.

Trish was stretching for her match when she was approached by Paul Heyman. Paul said he'd seen Trish in her bra and panties on SmackDown!, and that he couldn't get that image out of his head. Paul said he was also impressed with her title match at Judgment Day, and pointed out that he'd pinned Jeff Hardy at the same show. Paul was wondering if she'd like to get together tonight and relieve some of her sexual tension. Trish simply excused herself, saying she had a match. As she left, Paul mumbled that that wasn't a no!

Backstage, X-Pac and Show screamed at Booker and Goldust. X-Pac told Booker his friend had caused them to lose, and Booker said Goldust wasn't his friend. Big Show said he'd had enough, and he would now be the leader. X-Pac said he had been with the group longer than anyone, and he should be the leader. Goldust asked if he could be the leader and join the nWo, and they all screamed no. Booker said he would prove he should be the leader by doing what X-Pac and Show couldn't do -- beat the Hardys. He said he would take Goldust as his partner, to which Goldust -- still dressed as Elvis -- said, "Thank you, thank you very much!"

The WWE Women's Championship was on the line as Trish Stratus defended against Jacqueline. Jackie took the early advantage, but the champion fought back valiantly. Jackie missed a shot in the corner, and Trish capitalized, surprising her challenger with the Stratus-faction for the pinfall victory! After the bout, Jackie and Trish shook hands in a show of sportsmanship.

Suddenly, Paul Heyman's voice rang out, and he and Brock Lesnar walked to the ring. Paul said Trish hadn't given him an answer, and Brock didn't like when people didn't give him answer. Paul said they could do this one of two ways -- either she could go with Paul, or she could say no and Brock would take care of things. He asked her to decide, and she said no!

Paul told Brock to show Trish how rough he liked it, and the monster cornered Trish. The WWE Women's Champion cowered in fear, until Bubba Ray Dudley ran to the ring. Bubba stared down Brock, and Heyman held Brock back. Bubba told Heyman to let Brock go, but the agent wouldn't release his grip on the Next Big Thing. At Heyman's command, Brock simply walked away from Bubba Ray, although the look on Brock's face was clear -- he wanted to go with Bubba, who also wanted a piece of Brock.

More footage aired of Tommy Dreamer and his disgusting habits -- including eating his own hair, drinking barber fluid and eating hair gel!

Rob Van Dam's bloody head was being cleaned up backstage, and the doctor said his cut was so bad that he didn't think RVD should compete tonight. RVD said there was pride on the line, and that the doctor should just sew him up -- because he was going to take on the Undertaker and defeat him for the Undisputed WWE Championship.

The WWE European Championship was on the line as William Regal -- accompanied by Molly Holly -- defended against Bubba Ray Dudley. The crowd chanted for tables as the men went at it. Bubba showed off some of his dance moves as he went to work on the champion. Molly soon grabbed Bubba's feet as he ran into the ropes, and Bubba went running after her, only to be met by Regal. Bubba got that look in his eye, and told himself to get the table -- but as he pulled it out, he was attacked from behind by Brock Lesnar! The ref called for the bell, ending the bout in a disqualification. Brock nailed Bubba with his huge fall-away slam, before he and Heyman walked away with big smiles on their faces. Molly then reached into her tights and handed Regal the brass knuckles, and Regal nailed Bubba in the back of the head with the knucks! Bubba was out cold!

RAW owner Ric Flair headed for the ring, accompanied by Arn Anderson. Slick Ric talked about Stone Cold Steve Austin, saying he knew he could hear him. Flair said he'd looked into Austin's eyes just before he walked out here tonight. Flair said it was time to set the record straight -- Austin hadn't beaten him at Judgment Day. Flair said he wasn't the legal man in the ring. So as the owner of RAW, Flair had taken it upon himself to correct the record book.

Flair said Frank Sinatra said it best -- "mistakes, I've made a few, but then again, too few to mention." Flair said up until now, he had made some mistakes in his treatment of Austin. But Plan B would go into effect tonight. Flair then challenged Austin to head to the ring so he could explain exactly what Plan B entailed, face to face.

It didn't take long for the sound of broken glass to fill the Pyramid, as the Rattlesnake marched to the ring. Anderson took the mic and told Austin that in the event the Rattlesnake was thinking of doing something foolish, he wanted to remind Austin that Flair had permanent back-up -- Arn Anderson. Arn then handed the mic back to the Nature Boy.

The crowd chanted "a$$hole" as Flair repeated his plan, saying that as of tonight, Austin was benched. Flair said Austin had the night off, and he told the Rattlesnake to get out of his sight right now. Instead, Stone Cold punched out Anderson and Flair, assaulting both with Stunners! The Rattlesnake then downed a couple of Steveweisers for good measure!

Raven joined Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler at ringside for the match pitting the Hardy Boyz against Booker T and Goldust. Raven said he was tired of Lawler's lecherous ways, that he was sick of Lawler fawning over women and not calling matches. Raven said if Lawler knew anything about women, his wife wouldn't have left him. Raven said he was out to show Lawler what a real commentator was like. As the match began, J.R. informed fans that Stone Cold had left the building.

Raven continually razzed Lawler on commentary, drawing the ire of "The King." X-Pac and Big Show soon ran to the ring, and with the ref distracted, X-Pac kicked Goldust in the head -- allowing the Hardys to pick up the pinfall on the Golden one! Show and X-Pac told Booker to give up on Booker, but the Bookerman looked concerned about Goldust.

At a local karaoke bar, Stone Cold Steve Austin and Debra walked in and sat down to have a drink. Austin seemed to be in good spirits as he and Debra downed a couple of brews.

Moments later, Show, X-Pac, Booker and Goldust were still in the ring together. Booker said he thought they were on the same team. X-Pac said they were on the same team, and he asked where Booker was last night when nWo needed help against Austin. Booker said he wasn't the one who kicked his partner in the head. X-Pac said Booker was at the hotel trying to get laid, and Booker said at least he could get laid! Booker said Show and X-Pac were just jealous because he was a five-time WCW Champion. Show said they didn't ask Booker to be in the group, and if Booker wanted out, he had no problem taking him out personally. Booker said if he wanted some, he could come get some -- but as they were about to fight, out came Kevin Nash!

Nash stared down Goldust, who retreated from the ring. He then got in Booker's face, and told him to get something straight -- Flair had put the nWo T-shirt on Booker. He said Flair may run the RAW brand, but Nash runs the nWo. Nash said it didn't mean a lot that Show and X-Pac had his back, since they had embarrassed the nWo in recent weeks. Nash said the nWo was the most feared logo the sport had ever seen at one time -- but now he was sickened that it couldn't be again. Nash said he and Show were the two biggest guys in the company, and if they teamed up, no one could beat them. Nash said he and X-Pac go back 12 years. He asked if X-Pac was with him, and X-Pac nodded yes.

Nash said they could turn this thing around tonight. He gave the nWo signal, and X-Pac saluted him, as did Show. Nash asked Booker if he wanted to be a part of the group, and Booker saluted the men. Nash hugged the men, and shook hands with Booker, welcoming him to the group.

Back at the karaoke bar, Stone Cold and Debra were enjoying their beers. The bartender handed Debra a teddy bear, which she said was from the gentleman across the bar. It was Eddie Guerrero! Austin questioned what the hell was going on, asking why he bought her a teddy bear. Debra suggested Austin go on stage and sing a song.

J.R., Lawler and Raven continued the show at ringside, as J.R. announced that 43,000 tickets for the Global Warning Tour in Australia were sold this past weekend. The tension continued between Raven and Lawler, as Raven asked if Lawler knew anything about wrestling anymore. Lawler told Raven to take a hike, and Raven got into the ring.

Raven said Lawler talked about nothing but puppies week in and week out. He said it was obvious Lawler knew nothing about wrestling anymore. Lawler's hometown crowd in Memphis chanted for him as Raven challenged him to a match. He said he would humble him with the Raven effect. Lawler grabbed a mic of his own and borrowed a phrase from Booker T -- "Tell me you didn't just challenge me to a match in my hometown." Lawler said the last time he saw something that looked like Raven, he flushed it. He told Raven to go get his gear and he would be waiting.

Back at the karaoke bar, Austin questioned Guerrero's actions, but Debra asked Austin to sing a song for her. But as he walked to the stage, Eddie grabbed the mic, and said he would be singing. Austin said it was his turn, and the two men were soon face to face. Debra convinced Stone Cold to calm down, and Eddie asked for some music. Country music began to play, as Eddie began to sing, and the crowd booed.

In front of his hometown crowd, Jerry Lawler took on Raven in an impromptu match. Raven took it to "The King," trying to embarrass the hometown boy. At one point, Raven screamed at J.R. that he would be sitting in King's place next week on RAW. But Lawler fought back, taking it to the HEAT co-host. He nailed Raven with a dropkick, and punched away at him. King went up to the second rope, and Raven simply walked away from the fight. The ref counted Raven out, giving the win to the hometown boy!

Back at the karaoke bar, it was Stone Cold's turn to sing a song. The Rattlesnake sang "Margaritaville," with the people screaming "What?" after every line! Austin then told them to cut the music, and he wanted to sing another song. As Austin sang, Guerrero gave him a dirty look. Austin walked over to Latino Heat and asked if he didn't like what he was singing. Eddie simply talked to the two ladies at his table, and didn't look Austin in the eye. Stone Cold asked if Eddie had a problem with him. Stone Cold said he was going to sing another song just to bother Guerrero, just as Latino Heat had been bothering him all night. But as Austin walked away, Guerrero broke a beer bottle over the Rattlesnake's head!

The main event on RAW pitted the Undertaker against Rob Van Dam for Taker's Undisputed WWE Championship. RVD hit a plancha over the top rope onto Taker as the match began. Taker went for a boot, but RVD moved, and Taker got crotches on the top rope. RVD followed up with a top-rope kick, to score a two-count.

RVD fought out of a slam and kicked Taker for another two-count. He clotheslined the champion to the outside, where Taker hit his head on the announce table. Outside the ring, Taker raked RVD's eyes, but RVD threw Taker into the barricade, and dropped a leg across his back.

Back in the ring, RVD continued his assault, but Taker scored with a huge clothesline. Taker set RVD up for the Last Ride, but Van Dam fought his way out of it and scored yet another two-count. Taker downed RVD with a big boot, and took the turnbuckle off one of the corners. Taker attacked RVD's already-injured left eye, and tossed RVD into the exposed turnbuckle. The Dead Man laid into RVD with punches and set him up for a chokeslam, but Van Dam kicked out of it!

Taker slammed RVD and went for an elbow, but RVD moved. RVD dropkicked Taker three times for a two-count. He tried to maintain control, but Taker overwhelmed him and gained the advantage. But soon RVD hit a spinning heel kick and Rolling Thunder, pinning him for the win, even though Taker had his foot on the ropes! The ref didn't see Taker's foot on the ropes and awarded Van Dam the title!

RAW owner Ric Flair came out and told the ref that Taker's foot was on the ropes, and the match would continue. An irate Van Dam punched Flair, only to be caught by Taker, who hit the Last Ride and pinned RVD for a successful title defense. Flair smiled at the result as RAW went off the air.
