Default RAW Results: My First-Hand Encounter (3/17/03)

Last night I attended RAW for the first time ever. I've been to two house shows before, but never RAW. And it was everything I expected it to be!

My friends and I got there very early. So there wasn't a lot to do.

A fight broke out in the middle of the street in front of the Savvis Center. Then we saw a guy that looked just like Randy Savage. I asked if I could take his picture since he looks just like Savage. He said he's his brother, Andy Savage and that they'll be a tag team some day named Double Trouble.

The show started at 6:45. There were some dark matches. Then they taped the matches for next Sunday's episode of Heat. The matches were Jeff Hardy vs. somebody nobody knows and 3-Minute Warning vs. Spike Dudley and Tommy Dreamer. I got a pic of Jeff hitting the Swanton.

Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler were introduced and took their places at the announcers' table as the RAW aprons were set up on the ring.

RAW

RAW kicked off live on the New TNN with a shot of Eric Bischoff in the middle of the ring being booed heavily by the St. Louis crowd. Bischoff announced that the match between himself and Stone Cold Steve Austin later in the night as the main event would be a Lumberjack Match consisting of every single member of the RAW roster. Anyone who refused to be a lumberjack would be fired!

The RAW theme played and the pyro went off, causing the crowd to go absolutely wild!

The first match saw Kane and RVD facing Lance Storm and Chief Morley, who is filling in for the concussed William Regal. Morley stated beforehand that if the Dudley Boyz were to interfere in the match, there would be hell to pay! The match was mostly dominated by Kane and RVD. Each hit their most popular moves, except there was no Five-Star Frog Splash. Kane chokeslammed Lance Storm and pinned him for the victory.

After the match, the Dudleyz came out and set up a table in the ring as Kane and RVD trapped Morley in the corner. But the Dudleyz threw RVD out of the ring and gave Kane a 3D through the table! They then turned around and walked up the ramp angrily, leaving Morley delighted in the ring.

After the break, we see they Dudley Boyz backstage with the Chief. They said they were told earlier in the week to make a choice. They said they unfortunately had to choose to join forces with Bischoff and Morley. They said they didn't like it, but they would do it in order to make their living and feed their families. Morley assured them that they had made the right choice and that their suspension was officially lifted. The Dudleyz reluctantly shook hands with Morley.

Next, Triple H came out and talked about how great he is and how much Booker T sucks. He called out Booker, but he got Goldust instead! Goldust says he thinks Triple H is worried that he'll lose to Booker at WrestleMania. While he talks, Goldust starts stuttering and Triple H and Flair laugh hysterically, making fun of Goldust. Triple H mocks Goldust's affliction.

Finally, Goldust gets fed up and attacks both Hunter and Flair. But the two regroup and take out Goldust. Eventually, Booker T came out and cleaned house!

After the break, Triple H is shown destroying his dressing room. He tells Flair to tell Bischoff that he wants to face Goldust in a match later in the night!

The next match was Maven vs. Rico. There were strong "Rico Sucks!" chants at points during the match. The match was pretty even all the way through. Maven hit a nice bulldog off the middle rope. Maven won the match by countering Rico's attempt at a swinging neckbreaker and got him in a backslide for the pin.

Shawn Michaels is shown entering Steve Austin's dressing room.

Shawn Michaels tells Austin that he was asked to be a lumberjack in the match later that night and that he just wanted to be straight with Austin about it. He says that he'll throw Austin back into the ring whenever he has to. Austin asks what HBK will do when Chris Jericho is out there as a lumberjack. HBK says he's not worried and then reminds Austin that The Rock will also be a lumberjack. Austin says he isn't worried and that he'll beat Rock at WrestleMania.

The Rock walks by Theodore Long backstage. He gets upset when he sees Long's copy of WWE Magazine with the Hurricane on the cover.

Long tells Rock that Hurricane never beat him last week; it was a conspiracy by "the man." He assured The Rock that Rodney Mack would take care of the Hurricane next!

A WrestleMania moment is shown: Andre the Giant slams Big John Studd in 1985 to win the Slam Match, win $25,000 and keep his job.

The match between Rodney Mack and the Hurricane was next. Everyone cheered for Hurricane. But nobody even cared enough about Rodney Mack to boo him. Hurricane won by DQ when The Rock got involved and assaulted him with a chair.

A triple threat Women's Title match between Victoria, Trish, and Jazz was announced for WrestleMania. Footage was shown of Trish on MADtv from last Saturday.

Trish tagged with Jazz to face Victoria and Steven Richards. I personally liked the match. Unfortunately the rest of the crowd was dead. I really wish people would appreciate women as wrestlers. But there was this one kid about three rows back who kept chanting annoying shit that nobody wanted to hear. I had it once he yelled, "BRING BACK RIGHT TO CENSOR!" I yelled at him to shut the fuck up. Back to the match.

Near the end, Jazz abandoned Trish and left her to be annihilated by Victoria and Richards (Victoria scored the pinfall). After the match, Steven was getting ready to StevieT Trish onto a chair. But Jeff Hardy came out and made the save! After Victoria and Steven retreated, Jeff helped Trish to her feet and kissed her!

A clip is shown with highlights of Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania and comments from HBK himself.

In an interview with Jonathan Coachman, Chris Jericho talked about how he used to dream about being Shawn Michaels, but that he will end the man's legacy at WrestleMania.

The next match is Chris Jericho and Christian against Test and a mystery partner, whom Stacy picked. The partner turned out to be Big Poppa Pump, Scott Steiner! Steiner looked great, hitting suplex after suplex after suplex and doing all his popular taunts including the biceps kiss and the pushups.

This was probably the best match of the night. The crowd was really into it. Momentum changed hands often. There were tons of counters and reversals and the match had a great story. At one point, Christian was stalking Stacy, but Steiner saved her by taking Christian out. While Stacy was on the apron with her back turned to the action, Jericho ran into the ropes, knocking Stacy off the apron. But Steiner caught her and saved her again.

Naturally, Freakzilla did a little flirting before he put her down. Once Test noticed this, he became angry and distracted, allowing Jericho to come from behind and roll Test up for the pin. Stacy and Test argued after the match.

The match between Triple H and Goldust was next. Goldust started off strong, beating the hell out of the over-confident champion. And the crowd really got behind Goldust for the entire match. Soon, a fight broke out at ringside between Ric Flair and Booker T. Randy Orton, a St. Louis native, came through the crowd and hit Booker T in the back with a metal crutch!

Security quickly took Orton away.

Triple H eventually hit the Pedigree and won the match. Triple H backed up the ramp with Flair and stared down Booker T.

As Bischoff was stretching for his match, Rock came in and played a song on his guitar (which was signed by Willie Nelson) about how he just whooped the Hurricane's ass. The Rock offered to play a "Rock concert."

But not that night in St. Louis. He said St. Louis was not worthy, drawing a ton of boo's. But he would play the concert next week in Sacramento. The Rock convinced Bischoff to make himself look like less of a wuss by calling off the Lumberjack stipulation and making it a No DQ match with Chief Morley in his corner. He said Morley could take care of Austin until The Rock was ready to come down and whoop Austin's ass himself. He then sang another song about how he'll whip Austin's ass.

That match was next. The crowd was going absolutely crazy during this match!

Bischoff tried to run away from the Rattlesnake, but was quickly caught and given a Stone Cold ass whoopin! Mudhole stompin, punches, even a Boston Crab.

The Rock soon came in and hit a Stunner on Austin!

Bischoff rolled over for the cover but Austin kicked out at two! Rock went back in and tried a People's Elbow but missed. Austin threw him out of the ring, Stunned Morley and Bischoff and won the match.

The Rock came back in and hit the Rock Bottom on Austin! With Austin left in the ring, the Great One celebrated with a beer as RAW went off the air!

Off the Air

Austin and Rock went on for about 20 minutes giving the crowd an extra treat. Austin called out The Rock and challenged him to get back in the ring. We gave him "HELL YEAH's" and "WHAT's" left and right. We booed Rock, cheered Austin and everything in between. Rock talked about how he was annoyed by a fan's sign that said the Scorpion King movie sucked. Rock talked about how the fans in St. Louis have no class, pointing out a son on his dad's shoulders who was being told to give The Rock the finger.

Austin told Rock to just come in the ring, shake his hand, and he'll see him in two weeks at WrestleMania. Rock said that first, he wanted to hear Austin do the thing where he gets the crowd to say WHAT? because he really likes that part. Austin casually comes back with a response that causes us to shout WHAT? after his every word.

After a couple more minutes, they finally shake hands and the flashbulbs go off everywhere. Austin kicks Rock in the stomach and sets up for a Stunner, but Rock pushes him away and runs up the ramp smiling! Austin follows him up the ramp and punches are thrown. They get back in the ring and within seconds, Austin hits a Stunner which sends The Rock right back to his feet where he staggers in front of Austin, trying to keep from falling! Austin gives a double Stone Cold Salute to the groggy Rock and gives him another Stunner which sends the Rock flipping over like he did at WrestleMania X7! Austin exits to the back with the crowd cheering wildly.

Rock comes to and says, "Don't worry. Seriously, The Rock is fine. He's fine!. Damn, that Stunner really hurts. I'm not lying." He gets a camera man to take off his WrestleMania t-shirt and gives it to a fan but says, "now don't cheer the Rock or anything, you hear me? Because the Rock is a bad guy now!"

He walks up the ramp and says, "Remember, (singing)St. Louis has no class. That's why they can kiss the People's Ass. IF YA SMEEELLLLLL......WHAT THE ROCK.....IS COOKIN!"

*show over*

(Unfortunately, I didn't have enough good pictures of my own to use for this thread. So I used some of mine and some of WWE's. And I had to split it into 3 posts because there were too many pictures for it to be in one single or even two separate posts.)

Glad to hear you enjoyed it and I'm pissed that i missed it! I recoreded channel 42 instead of 43

Are there any pictures available of the look on Trish's face after Jeff kissed her? That look was incredible.

Thanks for that review, sounded great

So they're building up a Test vs Scott match then for WM?

Maybe. I'm not sure. It would be kind of pointless. Test is more angry at Jericho and Christian than he is at Steiner. Steiner didn't try to hurt Stacy.
