Arsenal's midfielder Patrick Vieira has not been nominated for PFA player of the year despite an outstanding season for the Premiership champions

Team-mate Thierry Henry, Manchester United's Ruud van Nistelrooy and Paul Scholes, Southampton's James Beattie, Newcastle's Alan Shearer and Chelsea's Gianfranco Zola are the nominees.

Everton's Wayne Rooney is the hot favourite for the young player of the year award.

Craig Bellamy (Newcastle), Jermain Defoe (West Ham), Jermaine Jenas (Newcastle), John O'Shea (Manchester United), Scott Parker (Charlton), Wayne Rooney (Everton).

Well for me the players' player of the year is between James Beattie and Ruud van Nistelrooy and the Young player of the year is between Jermaine Jenas and Wayne Rooney

Van Nistlerooy Deserves it. I hope O'Shea or Scott Parker get it.

Although Nistelrooy(sp?) has scored a lot of goals, he has done it in what is argueable the best side in the country whereas Beattie has done it in a side, while they have improved, still arn't that great. Thats why I said it was between them to.

Same about O'Shea as Nistelrooy really, it doesn't matter if Man U concede goals as they will go a score more, Scott Parker I have only ever heard of when he got into the England squad.

Scott Parker is a great talent. John O'Shea has been the find of the season, I believe he would be better recognised in England if he was English and able to play for England. But I am right behind him but knowing what will happen, Wayne Rooney who hasnt played all that much will win it.

Van Nistlerooy is a brilliant player and if it wasnt for him, we wouldnt be in the position we are in.

BTW do they do anything like this for the Nationwide leagues as I would be interested in that.

I am campagning for Jermanine Jenas as young player of the year as he is an ex Forest player.

I think there could be a Nationwide player of the season and Nationwide Young player of the season but I am not certain on this one.

and youngsters, i'm almost certain Rooney will get it.
