Last night, Jack Buck passed away. Jack Buck is a member of the baseball and football Halls of Fame. He has announced games in hockey, football, basketball and baseball. But he is most known for his legacy in the world of baseaball broadcasting.
He called Kirk Gibson's famous homerun against Dennis Eckersley. "I don't believe what I just saw!"
He called one of the most famous moments in St. Louis Cardinals history: Ozzie Smith's game winning home run against the Dodgers in the 1985 playoffs. "Go crazy, folks! Go crazy!"
He was, is, and and will always be the voice of the Cardinals and some say he is the greatest Cardinal of them all.
For the rest of the season, the St. Louis Cardinals will wear black sweatbands with the initials J.F.B.
This is a true loss not only for the city of St. Louis and the St. Louis Cardinals, but the game of baseball and sports in general. Listening to tributes to him on KMOX radio this afternoon, I was choked up. I almost couldn't help but cry. This is very sad.

Jack Francis Buck
1924-2002
He will be missed.
