Olympic Winter Games 2010: The Decission TODAY (Vancouver got it) - Eternal Allegiance

The 2010 Winter Olympics host city will be announced on 2 July during the 115th International Olympic Committee session in Prague.

There are three contenders: Vancouver (Canada), Salzburg (Austria) and Pyeongchang (South Korea)

The winner will be announced at approx. 5.30 p.m. Central European Time...

Some comments from the news:

- Vancouver is the favorite candidate (the Winter Games 2006 will be held in Europe, the 2008 Summer Olympics will be held in Asia, it would only be fair if North America would host the games in 2010

- should Vancouver win, the 2012 bids of Toronto and New York would have no chance

- should Salzburg win, Europe wouldn't get the 2012 Summer Olympics

- it is very unlikely that Pyeongchang will get the 2010 Winter Games, after the Summer Olypmics 2008 in Beijing

I don't really know much about this. I don't know much about the venues either. However, seeing as the 2006 games are being held in Europe then maybe it would be fair to host them in another part of the world 4 years later.

Vancouver got the host! I think it means Americans can forget about hosting the olympic games in New York at 2012!!!!
its means mor echances for Israel to win the host!

pyongchang actually led the voting after the first round, but since most of the austria votes came to us, we took the games...

looks like s.korea will have to bribe more officials next time.

and the lesson here:

dont count your bribed IOC officials until they vote!

It means that NY can forget hosting the olympic games in 2012! and that lives 2 major candidates: Cuba and Tel Aviv! and if those are the ONLY other candidates it means Tel Aviv is likely to get it

with vancouver winning the 2010 olympics, the 2012 toronto bid committee will most likely admit defeat, which means another country might come to the forefront... maybe korea again?

and considering how close korea came to winning this bid, its very possible they might sneak in and take 2012 (assuming all those bribes get held over to 2k12)

2008 games bid - toronto comes close to winning, beijing takes the games

2010 games bid - korea comes close to winning, vancouver takes the games

2012 games bid - ??? comes close to winning, korea takes the games...

a pattern maybe?
