Ruud van Nistelrooy is being charged by UEFA for insulting Swedish referee Anders Frisk after Holland's defeat in last night's Euro 2004 semi-final defeat to Portugal.

The Manchester United striker was furious with Frisk's performance and had to be led away after confronting the match official following the final whistle.

Frisk mentioned the confrontation in his report and UEFA have opened disciplinary proceedings against van Nistelrooy. They are expected to announce his punishment tomorrow.

UEFA spokesman Rob Faulkner said: "We have opened disciplinary proceedings against Ruud van Nistelrooy for insulting the referee.

"The incident was mentioned in the referee's report."

Jaap Stam, Marc Overmars and Frank de Boer have officially retired from playing for the Dutch national team. It is said that more will follow, and I certainly don't doubt that. This generation has played the tournaments for the last time. And so this was the last time we have seen Oranje play in this formation.

Among the possible players to go into retirement as well are Philip Cocu, Edwin van der Sar, Pierre van Hooidonk, Clarence Seedorf, and a few more.

Euro 2004 started with Portugal .v. Greece .. it will now end with Portugal .v. Greece!!

Dellas is the hero in Greece tonight. He scored the winning goal in the 105th minute from a corner. I wish I was on holiday in Greece right now .. there's gonna be one helluva party over there tonight!

I had a feeling the Greeks were going to score right before the end of the first half of extra-time, when they won that corner. This little smile just crept over my face and I started thinking of what to write on here .. then they scored!
