It's great to see the first main thread of this season up! Expect to see at least two of mine in the next week.

The French thread is coming soon ... very soon.

The Serie A is due to start August 28th, but I won't be surprised if we go into September. At this moment lots of clubs have financial problems and they're not allowed to participate in their leagues. We're talking about 18 clubs (Serie A, B, C, C2), including Messina, Torino and Chievo. The IFA will come with a decision mid-August.

Champions League - 2nd Qualification Round, 1st Leg
Anderlecht 5-0 Nefchi Baku
Famagusta 3-1 Trabzonspor
Kaunas 1-3 Liverpool
Valerenga 1-0 Haka

I'm pretty sure we'll see two Belgian teams in the 3rd Round. Good, solid win for Anderlecht and goals by Tihinen, Jestrovic, Mpenza, Goor and Vanderhaeghe.

You honestly didn't think Kaunas were going to win, did you?

And there goes the first team.

Treviso will take their place. I won't be surprised if more changes will take place in the 2005/2006 Italian line-up ...

Intertoto Cup - Semi-Finals, 1st Leg
Zalgiris 1-2 Cluj

Cluj have a big advantage in their bid for a Final place.
