Default Ligue 1 2005-2006 (French Competition)

The summer is beginning, but the Football summer is slowly fading. Scotland and France are the two competitions which kick off end July. Emma has the right to make her SPL, here’s the French one!

All eyes are, ofcourse, focused on Olympique Lyon again. Can they do it a 5th consecutive time? The success coach Paul Le Guen decided to leave, but most talent remains and the new trainer has a big chance of winning that title. Yes, again.

But since it’s a competition, there are other teams which want to compete with Lyon. There’s Olympique Marseille, AS Monaco. Auxerre maybe? And what can we expect from Lille, who finished as runner up last season and play CL in 2005/2006.

Besides the Ligue 1, we also have the Coupe de France and Coupe de la Ligue and those results can also be posted in here. Maybe sometimes we can even talk/post/reply in French?

Nancy, Troyes and Le Mans are the promoted teams and like in all competitions our biggest concern about those teams is: Will they be able to survive?

Friday 29th July
PSG – Metz

Satuday 30th July
Lille – Stade Rennes
Marseille – Bordeaux
Nancy – Monaco
Nantes – Lens
Nice – Troyes
St-Etienne – Ajaccio
Sochaux – Toulouse
Strasbourg – Auxerre

Sunday 31st July
Le Mans - Lyon

On the 1st Gameday we have some interesting matches. Can Lille keep up their good form from last year and defeat Stade Rennes? I’m also looking forward to Strasbourg (Coupe de la Ligue winner) and Auxerre (Coupe de France). I don’t expect much trouble for the big clubs.

Saturdays return to normal this weekend!!

I must remember to predict on Friday evening too. Its been a while since I've done that!

I'd like to see a much bigger challenge to Lyon this time around. Lille seemed like their only genuine contender for the title and even they fell away a bit towards the end. Maybe if some of the bigger clubs got rid of their 'artistsic talent' .. maybe then they'd start winning more.

Super Cup
Auxerre 1-4 Lyon

If this is the case for the rest of the season, then it will be 5 in a row for Lyon.

I hope he can spell better than Chris can..

Apart from that, I haven't seen a great deal of him to comment, but what I hear suggests he is a solid footballer.

LMAO

Personally I don't find him such a good striker. Sure, he has his qualities, but he has had way too many clubs the last couple of years. It has some Anelka similarities.

I watched him during Lyon - PSV (Peace Cup in Korea) and he was soooo bad.

Carew is a bloody BAD player .. well atleast when he plays for the national team, but somehow he seems to score for the club teams he play for, so i guess that he may do good for Lyon, but he's not really a good player, a bit to much ego, not someone you can call a "team player" he mostly wants the ball and never give it away.

It makes me wonder why Lyon want him. Last year showed us they have a good team with Govou, Wiltord, Malouda and Diarra, Essien (for now) as midfield players who can find their way to the goal. Why need another striker, especially when he isn't even world class. He isn't by far.

Yeah, they should have bought a better striker, maybe they could take away some of the strikers at chelsea . ( I can dream can't I? ).

But for some reasons carew scores goals at the start for hes team (start of the season )then it goes down.

he have 9 hattricks i see (says so in newspaper ) Front page was that he scored he's 9th hattrick. and its not even a sportspaper.

But I think we will see carew alot on the bench
