| LA LAKERS Offseason thread! | | Allright time to get over the loss and talk about the changes for next year.
Lots of talk of who we can get, who's available, rumours, etc.
Karl Malone, Gary Payton, Juwan Howard, Scottie Pippen have been mentioned as possibilities. I like to pick up P.J. Brown with the mid-level exception. He's a guy who doesn't need the ball(like Malone does), will play tough D and help D, and is a good team player. I think he's the best option out there. Pippen for the 1 million dollar veteran salary would be second. I would love Karl Malone but he needs the ball and it just seems there would be more problems with who gets the ball, I need my shots and it reminds me another Glen Rice wife bullshit again. Gary Payton dominates the ball and he would have to change his game because here, Kobe is the one that has the ball most of the time.
What do the other fellow Lakers fans think? |

| Pippen and P.J. would be good additions as they're already used to playing their role in the supporting cast. Malone and Payton would have to give in a lot of their salary and change their ball game ... but then again, it might be their last chance to win a title, the only thing missing in their careers. |

| I would love Payton. His defense would really help. I really didn't watch him with ball-hog Cassell and how he played after he was traded to the Bucks. And they play an up-tempo style, the Lakers like the half court game so there's less shots for him. Still we need to get a PF. Its a must. |

| Weird... You want to re-tool an aging team by adding a bunch of old guys?
Malone?
Pippen?
Payton?
The only one I'd think worth signing is Pippen.
Malone could score... in Utah, but that was because him and Stockton were the JAZZ!
You'd replace Horry, who is owned by Duncan, with Malone who is OWNED by Duncan.
And then Payton...
I'm sorry, is this 1995? No, it's 2003 and Gary Payton has lost it. Why do you think Seattle traded him?
He didn't help the Bucks.
And Parker has schooled him.
Pippen is old but he helped Portland out, but Pippen isn't going to make LA any better to the degree of being able to beat the Spurs.
LA should just get some young talent and develope them. |

| Gary Payton is still the 2nd best PG in the league, if he would sign for the veteran minimum that would be HUGE!!!
20.4 PPG 4.2 RBS 8.3 APG
and he's top 15 in almost every category in the league |

| Payton could easily contribute 15ppg, 6-7apg and 4-5 rpg. It would take Kobe of bringing the ball and making the plays which would give Kobe more energy and time/space to post up or go for more penetrations. He (Kobe) would also be able to take better positions and then receive the ball for a buzzerbeater or just a three-pointer, something which would have more effect than having to dribble himself free fist and then shoot.
Payton oplaying with a veteran contract. It would finally give him some title chances ... something he hasn't had after losing the NBA Finals against Jordan's Bulls.
Brown could take off some rebounding and inside posting from Shaq. Brown can score as well, might not be pretty, but effective anyway.
I think Pippen could still add good ingredients to the Lakers' game. |

| Gary Payton is still the 2nd best PG in the league.
According to who?
Not seattle fans. They all cheered when he was traded. Why would you cheer the trade of the "2nd best point guard?"
Because he's not. He's top 10. No doubt, but he's not the 2nd best.
It's
Kidd
'bary
B.Jackson
Nash
Francis
Parker
Arenas
Bibby
Payton
Davis
Parker has proved he's better than Payton many times. |

| Payton's still in the top 5 of best PG's to me ...
Kidd's #1 without any doubt. Sonics fans cheered when he was traded cause he never gave them a title ...he never got any good supporting cast ... expect the seasons with Schrempf and Kemp. But then Kemp found out Cleveland ordered a few shipments burgers and some coke and gone he was. Sonics won't have much to cheer now they have Allen ... it's again mainly a one-man-team. |

| You are an idiot IMDROWNING.. Kidd is the only one you listed that's better than Payton's all-around game. Francis is comparable but too Iverson like, but obviously with the more upside. Those other guys aren't even close to Payton. Get a clue. You see what Mike Bibby is when Webber is out against Dallas, a joke. And Bobby Jackson? Please. You got to be kidding me. And all the rest can't guard like Payton either. You are just a dope.

| And get the hell out of here IMDROWING, its a Lakers offseason thread for the LAKERS fans not Spurs fans. Go enjoy your Spurs and "Hall of Famer" Tony Parker and make your own threads, and make you dopey opinions there. I'm sure you have Parker in the NBA's TOP 50 Players of all-time by now.
