Default Jupiler League 2005-2006 (Belgian Competition)

In the German thread I have just written some typical German things and what can we say about Belgium. They have the menneke pis and frites/patat. I’m now imagining the looks on your faces.

Club Brugge and Anderlecht are the teams which will decide who gets the title 2005/2006, it’s as simple as that. Unfortunately. Club brought Vermant (Schalke) back to Brugge as substitute for Timmy Simons and Anderlecht took over Bart Goor.

It’s not only the domestic league, in Europe things also don’t go very well. But maybe there's a better time ahead, 'cause Anderlecht and Club Brugge have chance to reach the CL. Genk, Standard and Charleroi will battle for a possible UEFA Cup ticket, but that’s still far away. Luckily.

Zulte-Waregem and Roeselare

...

Those aren’t weird Dutch/Belgian words. Zulte-Waregem and Roeselare are the two promoted teams this year and they’re just as unknown for me as they probably are to you. Starting this season, only 1 team will automatically relegate.

Friday 5th August
Club Brugge – Mouscron

Saturday 6th August
Gent – Zulte-Waregem
Beveren – Brussels
Lokeren – Genk
Westerlo – Cercle Brugge
Anderlecht – La Louviere
Standard Luik – Lierse
St-Truiden – Roeselare

Sunday 7th August
Charleroi – GBA

Go Brugge, Anderlecht and the rest!

Saturday 6th August
Anderlecht 6-0 La Louviere
Beveren 0-2 FC Brussels
Gent 1-3 Zulte-Waregem
Lokeren 1-1 Genk
Standard 3-1 Lierse
St-Truiden 1-0 Roeselare
Westerlo 2-0 Cercle Brugge

Anderlecht mean business! They lead the way after one match and it seems as though they certainly know where the goal is.

Zulte have made a fantastic start in thei bid to stay up - but can they continue with results like todays!?

2002/2003: Club Brugge
2003/2004: Anderlecht
2004/2005: Club Brugge

I'm predicting Anderlecht to win the title this year, especially after this weekend.

Friday 12th August
La Louviere - Gent

Saturday 13th August
Mouscron - Lokeren

Sunday 14th August
Brussels - Club Brugge
GBA - Westerlo
Cercle Brugge - Anderlecht
Lierse - St-Truiden
Roeselare - Beveren
Zulte-Waregem - Standard Luik
Genk - Charleroi

Tell me what you think of the last match, Genk - Charleroi. I'm expecting to see a good match with a result which is difficult to predict. I see Anderlecht winning.

Club Brugge had, just like Werder Bremen, not an easy European week. How will they do against Brussels, that won their first match ...

Saturday 13th August
Mouscron 0-2 Lokeren
Brussels 1-1 Club Brugge
GBA 0-1 Westerlo

It seems more matches were played last night than I knew last Friday. Club Brugge draw and so far I'm getting a bit right about the fact I think Anderlecht will win the title this year. Last week they weren't convincing and 1-1 against Brussels ... that's not good.

Westerlo are top after 2 matches with 6 points, but I see Anderlecht being there tonight. Anderlecht's GD is the double of Westerlo.

Cercle Brugge 0-2 Anderlecht
Lierse 1-0 St-Truiden
Roeselare 1-0 Beveren

In Belgium the promoted teams are also playing along well. Roeselare grab their first win of the season, but Anderlecht lead (ofcourse) with 6 points and GD 8.
