Merged is the simple answer, now back on topic.

I don't think it matters who Scotland appoint as manager, they simply don't have the players to be as good as they used to. As Duffyboy said, the problem is with the youngsters. They either aren't encouraged to play football enough or simply don't have the chance to.

This isn't xenophobic but another huge problem is bringing in foreigners such as the Old Firm.

They've scoured the globe looking for another Larrson and it's crippling the game.

I don't think the OF would be doing half as well with their scottish based players only.

Walter Smith is expected to be named Scotland Coach on Thursday.

Thierry Henry, Ronaldinho and Andrei Shevchenko have been named as the three contenders for Fifa's World Player of the Year award.

None of the three forwards have previously won the award, although Henry was named as runner-up last year.

The winner will be announced on 20 December at Fifa’s World Player Gala.

Meanwhile the three contenders for the women's award are Mia Hamm of the United States, Germany’s Birgit Prinz and Brazil's Marta.

The winners will be determined by votes cast from the male and female captains of every national teamm as well as their coahces and Fipro, the global organization for professional soccer players.

Italian football federation president Franco Carraro has asked the Italian government to ok an Italian bid for the 2012 European championships.

“The European championships could represent an important financial chance for our country. The European Championships brought an economic boost to Portugal as oppose to the Olympics, that forced a huge debt upon Greece,” he said.

Italian prime minister and AC Milan president Berlusconi has been reported as favourable to the initiative.
