| Mark Palios has quit his post as chief executive of the Football Association.
His resignation comes in the wake of the scandal over England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson's affair with Faria Alam, a secretary at the FA.
Looks like Sven will be next... Probably we will know by Thursday.. |

| What a shock!
England midfield player Paul Scholes has announced his international retirement at the age of 29.
Manchester United FC's Scholes, who represented his country at the 1998 and 2002 FIFA World Cups and the 2000 and 2004 UEFA European Championships, won 66 caps, scoring 14 goals. "This is a decision I have not taken lightly, I have been considering retiring from international football for a while now," Scholes told the United website.
"I started my England career in 1997 and have enjoyed seven years of great football, playing in the best competitions, with some of the best players, under the best managers. [UEFA] EURO 2004™ was fantastic but afterwards I felt the time was right for myself, and my family, to make it my last England appearance."
Scholes will concentrate on his career at Old Trafford, where he has played his club football since coming through the ranks to make his first-team debut in the 1994/95 season. He has claimed six Premiership titles and helped the team win the 1999 UEFA Champions League, although he was suspended for the final. |

It's a big shame as he's one of our best midfield players and one of the players I thought would play a big role in helping us do well in getting to the World Cup. Oh well, we've got other good players. We'll have to adapt.
May he have a lot more success at club level. |

| European footballer of the year and Czech team captain Pavel Nedved may hang up his boots for the national side, his agent Zdenek Nehoda told AFP Tuesday.
"Pavel has been thinking about ending his career with the national team since the Euro 2004 championship because of the injuries he suffered," Nehoda said.
"But he plans to continue playing for Juventus for the rest of the two years that his contract runs," he added. Nedved denied reports in the Italian press Tuesday that he had already told national coach Karel Bruckner that his mind was made up not to continue.
"This is not the truth, only that I'm thinking a lot about my future career with the national side. But I have not decided yet. It is complicated," Nedved, who turns 32 at the end of the month, told Czech news agency CTK.
"However, at this moment, circumstances make it likely that I may well quit," he added. Golden Ball winner Nedved, capped 84 times, has scored 17 goals in his decade with the national side.
Nehoda said that Nedved would definitely not play in the Czechs' friendly match with Greece in Prague on August 18.
Nedved has said that he would like to take part in the 2006 World Cup in Germany, since he has never before played in the World Cup. He added that he would make a final decision in a month with the Czech Republic due to play their first World Cup qualifier against Holland on September 8. |

| FC Porto have officially fired recently-appointed manager Luigi Del Neri.
Del Neri missed a flight on Thursday evening and was unable to be at the club’s training session.
This did not sit well with club president Pinto Da Costa who decided to terminate Del Neri’s contract and will now begin looking for a new manager for the European Champions.
Expect FC Porto to announce the appointment of a new manager by Monday. Del Neri was chosen as Jose Mourinho’s successor at the club, but in the end, he did not even get to manage a single official match. |
