Interesting thing I read today:

After Van Der Sar said he doesn't go to PSV ... he's now being linked to both Arsenal and Man United.

Rangers coach Jan Wouters has joined Dutch manager Dick Advocaat's coaching staff ahead of Euro 2004.

Wouters won the European Championship as a player in 1988. He turned down a similar job three months ago but will now do the job on a part-time basis.

Exactly, his good days are over!

England defender Jonathan Woodgate could be ruled out of Euro 2004 with a torn thigh muscle.
The 24-year-old was injured in Newcastle's win over Chelsea on Sunday.

FIFA President Sepp Blatter said Tuesday he wants to change the rules of football so that matches can no longer be drawn. "Every match should have a winner. We should not have to go home with a draw," the head of football's world governing body said in an interview with German sports agency SID.

"When you play cards, bowls or a board game there is always a winner and a loser.

"In football too we should have the courage to ensure there is a result in every match. That is what I want."

Blatter said that in the event of ties played over two legs - such as in the Champions League quarter-finals - the best solution would be a penalty shootout at the end of the 90 minutes in the second leg.

Under current rules, extra-time is played if scores are level at the end of the second leg match.

"The penalty shootout is always the best solution to get a result," Blatter said.

"It is not right that a tie which is played over two legs must go into extra-time to get a result.

"This means that the home team effectively gets a second home match.

"We cannot continue having draws. People want to win. Pierre de Coubertin said the most important thing was to take part, not to win. But that's wrong.

"We have one goal in life, and in sport we want to win."

However, FIFA vice-president Julio Grondona rejected Blatter's proposal, saying: "Football cannot be any better than it already is."

The Argentinian added that Blatter must have been speaking "in a moment of euphoria".

In the interview, Blatter also said he opposed using video cameras to help decide contested refereeing decisions, something which is already used in rugby union.

"As long as I am FIFA president, there will be no technological aid. We must live with the uncertainty of sport and the referees' mistakes," the Swiss said.

"I will always refuse to use cameras to decide if there was offside or not, or if the foul was made in the penalty area or not."
