The Leafs at the moment have excellent talent blossoming in their farm system. The majority of the Canadian hockey players at the World Juniors this year were from the Leaf camp. That tells you something about our future. Yes, 30+ years is a long time. But you can't blame me for cheering for them if I love the game of Hockey and this is my home team.

Ottawa will choke again this year. They always seem to do well in the regular season but end up choking in the playoffs.

Pasta, I also want to ask you a question that's not related to hockey. Why does Western Canada hate Eastern Canada so much, especially Ontario??? I've heard so many explanations from people in Vancouver saying that we get all the money and shit like that from the gov't (which is not true at all because were getting less than what's expected). Also that they think the citizens of Toronto are all arrogant and cocky, which just shows how people of Vancouver are that ignorant to come up with such a conclusion when the majority of the people making these comments never have been here.

Anyways, I'd appreciate your view on this whole East Canada vs. West Canada.
as long as fat quinn is running your ship, your team will have no future... the man is a TERRIBLE gm, an only his fat pockets can hide that....

sooooooo many players would sign with toronto if it weren't for him... since he left vancouver, our team has done nothing but improve...

ottawa wont choke... they're waaaaaaaaay too deep this year... hossa is going to turn the acc into the red light district... that kid has some serious skills...

as for west coast east coast... it comes down to a couple main things...

toronto is a large market team... the same reason we LOVE to see the rangers with their big payroll do so poorly, we like to see the leafs struggle... sports is aboot competition, and anytime a franchaise does something unfairly to spoil even competition, the fan is outraged.... thats why i dislike the red wings, thats why i dislike the rangers, and thats why i dislike the leafs... the leafs will always be around, because their bankbook says so... if you want more reasons why we hate the leafs, see the sports illustrated article entitled "Why everyone hates the leafs"...

also, east coast hockey is boring...

going back to that new years eve game... i think it was in the first period, the canucks were up 3-1.... and what did we do? play defensively? hell no... our guys were taking offensive chances, and putting on a show for the hometown fans...( the canucks themselves admit they are guilty of trying to put on too much of a show)...

sure enough, the leafs battle back and take a one goal lead in the second period... what happens?

GAME OVER... the leafs play the trap, and its defense defense defense for the rest of the game...

it was fucking disgusting... east coast hockey is bullshit, and its boring as hell... you get a one goal lead, and you just sit on it... its amazing that the western and eastern teams can be such opposites... but they are...

*shrugs* thats what you have to do when you dont have the talent to back it up... germany did that in the olympics... and eastern teams have been doing it for years now...

just look at the scores of the nucks and leafs, tonight

canucks win 6-4
leafs lose 2-0

10 goals, versus 2 goals.... i was at a bar, so i saw both games, and i dont know how leafs fans do it... how they can subject themselves to soccer, when hockey is just a coastline away

Anybody a CANUCKS fan.I mean come on they are the 2 in Western Conference and 3rd in the NHL

Even though the past 3 games have been rotten. They should have been able to blast Columbus away instead they lost in OT 5-4 still gives them 1 point.Skudra (1) is not playing very good the last two games.

What do you guys think of the Owen Nolan trade Toronto was involved in with San Jose?

i could have called this one a mile away....

SURPRISE SURPRISE...

pat quinn trades one of the league's best young prospects (and a first round draft pick and alyn mccauley), for an aging superstar...

he did the same thing in vancouver when we had him.... but lucky for you guys, you have an unlimited bankroll, so you'll never feel the damage we invokes on your development system... but he's a TERRIBLE GM IMO....

(thats why he's perfect for the t dot )

as for nolan, i think he's great... although with him, roberts, and sundin, i dont know who will wear the pants in that dressing room...

i dont think he's a good fit... but time will tell... i think a young rising star would have been better... *shrugs* antropov will be great...

on a side note... who would have thought that with domi and tucker suspended for being idiots, that toronto could get into 4 fights in 1 game...

i guess it just shows the depth of their talent.

the reason i think he's trading some excellent young talent is because Toronto as it is built now is ready to win the cup now with all the players in its lineup aging. The people of Toronto have been waiting for a cup for 30+ years.

We're almost close to getting defenseman Glen Wesley from the Carolina Hurricanes last time I heard.

They are looking to get 2 defenseman by trade deadline. Aaron Miller and Mathieu Schneider's names have popped up today in rumours coming to toronto.

I also heard about the Edmonton Oilers and Toronto swapping Janne Niniema to Toronto for Darcy Tucker and a draft pick.

I like the Glen Wesley deal. All the Canes want in return is a draft pick...possibly 3rd or 4th round pick.

And if the Leafs can pick up one of Miller or Schneider....the Leafs defense will at least be decent.

there's NO way anyone would take darcy tucker... that goon has no place in hockey... same with tie domi... if it weren't for the leafs, those clowns wouldn't have jobs...

toronto is not poised to win the cup...

from sportsnet.ca:

since 1993, 4 teams have been to their conference finals 4 times or more... the new jersey devils, the colorado avalanche, the detroit red wings, and the toronto maple leafs...

now that might sound impressive, until you realize this...

the devils, wings, and avs, all have MULTIPLE stanley cups in that period, while the toronto maple leafs, haven't even been to the stanley cup finals, once.

the west is WAY too deep once again...

last year, the east's best team, couldn't take detroit to 6 games... and this year, there are 2 teams better than detroit in the west...

toronto wont get past nj, or ottawa....

as for tonight....

a tie, against our slumping backup goalie... if you guys could have gotten some shots in the 2nd and 3rd, you would have blown us out of the water... skudra is playing like crap....

kudos to our defense. kudos to bertuzzi.

Eeeeeee. Just got back from a Stars game tonight. We beat San Jose 3-0 and it was just an overall great game. We are still 2nd in the league...one point beneath Ottawa, but oh well...it's been back and forth with Ottawa all season.

Well I just had so much fun tonight seeing as we killed San Jose and I also got Marty Turco's autograph....saw him in the hallway and he was really nice...giving everybody who asked autographs. So yeah...I had fun!

The Leafs today just aquired veteran defenseman Glen Wesley from the Canes for a 2nd round draft pick in 2004.

That's a pretty good trade in my opinion as Toronto desperately needs upgrading on their defense.

Just one more defenseman away (Aaron Miller??? Alexi Zhitnik??? Mathieu Schneider???) and I say Toronto has got it self a pretty built team to go all the way in the playoffs.

Pasta, I have to give credit to the Canucks for staying in the game against the leafs. They're pretty one god damn good team. Skudra was playing shit and Toronto didn't take advantage, if they did the Canucks would have got crushed. Nolan played amazing. Our first line was asleep that night.

cloutier's back... i just hope they're not rushing him back... which means, he'll have 2 games before the rematch this saturday...

that game, is going to be one helluva game...

amonte to the flyers... and hitchcock at the helm... hmmm, the east just got interesting....

its too bad its division ranked... we're going to see philly toronto in the first round... which could have been a conference final... i think that will be the best first round in the playoffs...

in a 7 game series, i just think hitchcock will outcoach quinn... but at least there will be something interesting in the east...

(my buddy says philly has no goaltending, but maybe im biased cuz we got shut down by czechmanek a week ago)

GO RED WINGS!!!!

They kick butt. Beat the #1 team (ottawa) 6-3 tonight. Hat trick for Hull.

With the newly acquired Schnieder on D, the Wings are UNSTOPABLE!!!!
