oh, but the leafs had a good game versus nashville.. its good to see they can hold their own with the titans of the league...
canucks are unbeaten in 13 games now.... we have the nhl's longest winning streak from december at 10 games, and the nhl's longest unbeaten streak at 13...
we're the nhl's hottest, most exiting team... and we dont have a single player being paid over 5 million...
you know you're jealous. just admit it. |
Pasta, where have you been???
The leafs have been hot the past month.....Wow...a lose to Nashville!!! did you know they're on a big hot winning streak as well??? They're just 6 points out of a playoff spot and are fighting to make the playoffs. The Leafs have 12 wins out of 14 games and 4th in the East, which is not bad in my opinion...So before you shoot off your mouth again, know what your talking about first.
and about the 'not having a player over 5 million' statement. Guess what will happen when Bertuzzi's and Morrison's contracts come up. They're the young elite of this league and are both top point leaders. They'll be demanding big $$$, which Vancouver cannot provide since they're a team that cannot have a big budget. Do you really think it's possible that the Canucks can re-sign them? The Vancouver NHL franchise just breaks even each year. What profit does it make?? Enjoy you team will you can because I'll guarantee you a couple years down the road they won't be in Vancouver anymore. Look at Alexi Kovalev. |

Look at Alexi Kovalev. | big winning streak? you beat montreal (x2), carolina, new york isl, tampa bay and florida on your so-called hot streak... not exactly teams playing for anything meaningful... but hey, if thats how you guys define success in the east, all the power to ya...
haha, your just another arrogant leaf's fan, who doesn't know shit... brian burke has never been turned down by owndership when signing a player... do you think they're just going to let franchaise players like b-mo and bert just slip away? not a fucking chance... keep drooling over there in TO... we have something you fat cats will never have... team chemistry... how come with all your money you couldn't sign dick all free agents in the summer? oooh, you landed ed belfour for 7 million dollars... what a STEAL!!!
what aboot markus naslund? 2 years ago he signed an extension for 4.5 million through 4 years, and he was a bonafide all-star at the time too... and he NEVER grudges aboot his contract... we just signed jovo for 5 million... now why would sign a guy like jovo for 5, if we didn't have the scrilla to keep someone like bertuzzi around...
you'll "guarantee" me they wont be in vancouver? hahaha... put your money where your mouth is buddy... ill drive into town and make you a bet this second...
dont compare our character guys to a chump like kovalev... who, by the way, was TRADED... he didn't leave for $$$... learn some shit, before you make bad examples.... guerin would have been a better example...
march 8th kid... the make-be-leafs are going to get worked. |

march 8th kid... the make-be-leafs are going to get worked. | Tue Dec 31 Toronto Maple Leafs at Vancouver Canucks Toronto Win 5-3
Wins are wins....this is the east which is basically mediocore in terms of good teams, and I'm afraid to break it to you but Toronto is one of the elite teams in the East, mabye not the whole league. But when playoff time comes around this team is among the elite as they put so much heart into their games. The Maple Leafs are an excellent playoff team, they're an average regular season team. They've made the Eastern Conference finals 2 out of the past 4 years. Tell me how many times Vancouver has made the West Conference Finals???? Don't give me that bullshit about the west is too tough. If your team is all high and mighty they would of beat Detroit last year. The nucks had the momentum going back to Vancouver with winning the first 2 games in Detroit and should of at least won one game at home which they did not. I know what your going to say...Oh they were the eventual Stanley Cup champs.....so what!!! Your team had the chance to knock them out. I'll bet the Canucks won't even get out of the first round this year by a major upset with the #6 or #7 seed. I see the Canucks facing Minnesotta in the playoffs, with Minnesotta winning the series.
Why do you think Toronto is jealous of the Canucks. We could care less. We are only concerned about our own team. We have the right to be fans of the Leafs if were from this city.
How can you say our team has no team chemistry??? That just shows ignorance on your part. With Roberts back in our lineup everything is working out well as planned. Yes, there are those few games that the team is off and doesn't play well...big deal!!!!!!!!!!! all the other 29 teams have nights like that as well.
And about the Canucks not being able to re-sign Brendan Morrisson and Todd Bertuzzi. I heard about that concept on Sportsnet's special on the CBA, which had GM's from the league and leading sports analyst talking about the CBA. They brought up the issue that Ottawa and Vancouver have great young talent at the moment that don't earn a lot of money. But when there contracts come up they'll demand big chunks of $$$ since they'll be considered the elite players of the league. And the small market teams like Ottawa and Vancouver might not be able to afford keep them. So don't holler at me, holler at Sportsnet who brought this issue up.
I'm just so sick of arguing about this. I'm proud of my home team and I don't give a shit what anyone else thinks. They've got a better shot at making the Finals than the Nucks. Reason why???? They're in the East and it's wide open for any of the 8 teams in the playoff race and the leafs have got the most experience and better goaltending this year.

new jersey is the only team in the east i would even consider elite... they're the only team to actually win the stanley cup out of the east in the last 10 years, and this year will be no different...
tell me, when was the last time the make-be-leafs went to the stanley cup finals? why... that would be 1969... over 30 years ago... the next year, the canucks franchaise would be born, and since our inception we've been to the finals twice...
30 years is a long LONG time to wait, for even the most patient fan... thats why its no surprise, that my beloved vancouver canucks have developed a strong following, even here in toronto... and dont pretend like you dont feel it, cuz i KNOW you do!
even don cherry, die hard leafs fan thinks it will be ottawa and vancouver in the finals this year... thats right, OTTAWA, not toronto, OTTAWA.... he says, ottawa has enough grit to bury anyone in the east...
and quit boring me with speculation on how this player MIGHT leave, and that player MIGHT leave.. bertuzzi, naslund, and morrisson ALL had chances to leave as free agents, and they ALL signed back on board...
the leafs are marginally better than they were last year, but what improvements have they really shown as a franchaise? none, whatsoever... the canucks have taken leaps and bounds to get better this year
we have the nhl's leading scorer, the nhl's 2nd best goalie in terms of wins, the nhl's best line, and a defense that got bigger and tougher... our smallest d-man is jovanovski, remember him? he's the guy with the CANADIAN GOLD MEDAL!
how many gold medal's do your leafs have? oh thats right... belfour got one for riding his ass on the pine...
two more things:
1. how can you even begin to put my team down for losing to the red wings, one of the best assembled teams in nhl history, when you guys just got thumped 7-2??????
SEVEN GOALS? ooh, gary roberts, ed belfour, yeah yeah yeah... nice try... your team cant hold its own with the westcoast, and nashville proved that to you too
2. how are you even going to talk aboot winning streaks, when my boys just got off a 14 game unbeaten streak... yes, thats the longest in the nhl this season...
just wait until march 8th... we're missing a slew of our stars, and we're still going to beat your pansy ass team. |

I'm just trying to defend my hometown team. As you may have heard before, the Leafs need good defenseman. Are team lacks good defense besides Kaberle, Svelhla and McCabe.
You guys had some good players that developed through your farm system that's why you guys are so good now.
The Leafs at the moment have excellent talent blossoming in their farm system. The majority of the Canadian hockey players at the World Juniors this year were from the Leaf camp. That tells you something about our future. Yes, 30+ years is a long time. But you can't blame me for cheering for them if I love the game of Hockey and this is my home team.
Ottawa will choke again this year. They always seem to do well in the regular season but end up choking in the playoffs.
Pasta, I also want to ask you a question that's not related to hockey. Why does Western Canada hate Eastern Canada so much, especially Ontario??? I've heard so many explanations from people in Vancouver saying that we get all the money and shit like that from the gov't (which is not true at all because were getting less than what's expected). Also that they think the citizens of Toronto are all arrogant and cocky, which just shows how people of Vancouver are that ignorant to come up with such a conclusion when the majority of the people making these comments never have been here.
Anyways, I'd appreciate your view on this whole East Canada vs. West Canada. |
