today will go down as one of the greatest days in recent footballing history, well...for me anyway.
today it was announced that Juninho has finally agreed personal terms with us (Middlesbrough) for a four year contract, subject to a medical and a successful work permit application.
i am soooooo happy....for those uneducated amongst u

...Juno has played for Boro on 2 seperate occasions before.
the first time was about 5 years ago if memory serves, he was with us for a couple of years, he became the single most popular player in Middlesbrough football history, and also was voted Middlesbrough's player of the century in the official fan club poll. he single handidly entertained 30, 000 fans every single week at the Riverside stadium (including me).
sadly we were then relegated to the first division, so he decided that in order to further his career he should move abroad to a big club, as France 98 was approaching and he was hoping to make in the Brazil squad for the world cup.
he proceeded to join Atletico Madrid for £12 million...unfortuntely soon after his arrival he severely broke his ankle and missed the world cup...he struggled with this injury for a couple of years...then about a year or 2 ago when he appeared to be nearing full fitness again, Middlesbrough's then manager Bryan Robson decided to bring him back for his second spell on loan here...unfortuntely he wasn't as impressive second time round, he didn't seem fully fit, and although he was good, he wasn't at his best. so Robson didn't sign him full time, he went back to Atletico, over the past couple of years he was loaned to a Brazillian side and generally improving his fitness, then...luck finally went his way.
during the build up to this years world cup Brazil were hit with injuries for a couple of their midfielders, and Juno was called up to the squad, he got his chance, and grabbed it with both hands, he was AWESOME, back to his best, back to his fittest and most importantly he seemed to back to his self again.
after the world cup Middlesbrough agreed a fee with Atletico to bring him back for the third time, and after 3 or 4 weeks of personal talks and negotiations, he and Boro have agreed a contract, and subject to a medical and a work permit application, he will be back in a red shirt come August 17th.
sorry to bore everyone with all this, im just so happy, as is the rest of Teesside, and Middlesbrough fans world wide......HEY PEOPLE.......HE'S COMIN HOME, WHERE HE BELONGS
