| Formula One rookie Antonio Pizzonia wrote off a £45,000 Jaguar road car in a spectacular 155mph crash at the Circuit de Catalunya near Barcelona on Thursday.
Luckily the Brazilian and three passengers were not seriously hurt after somersaulting into a tyre barrier after losing control of the S-Type R sports saloon.
Pizzonia was carrying out promotional work for the Jaguar Racing team after official F1 testing at the circuit had ended for the day.
The 23-year-old will make his debut for the Milton Keynes-based outfit at the season-opening race in Australia next March.
Pizzonia, who is regarded as one of the sport's brightest prospects but still a raw talent, was taken to the track's medical centre for a check-up.
The car was declared a write-off after it was towed back to the garage on a flat-bed truck with the roof caved in and the rear window smashed.
Jaguar spokesman Nav Sidhu, who was at the first corner, said: "From having seen the footage it looks like he went into the first corner too fast and lost control of the car but thankfully everybody is okay.
"Antonio will hopefully carry on tomorrow with some testing duties. They are all obviously a bit shocked as one would expect.
The accident, which could have had far more serious consequences, capped what Sidhu admitted had been a "week from hell for the team".
Jaguar Racing announced last week that 60 jobs would be lost because of the current climate while team principal Niki Lauda was unexpectedly sacked on Monday. |

| - Organisers of next year's Malaysian Grand Prix are pulling out all stops, including the erection of a theme park near the hillside stands, in a bid to lure over 100,000 spectators to the event.
Sepang International Circuit General Manager Ahmad Mustafa said ornamentations would be based on Malaysian states like Penang and Malacca, which have colourful colonial histories.
Shuttle services and customized, air-conditioned luxury boxes will also be added, Ahmad said. The goal will be to attract 100,000 spectators, many of them foreigners who would be a boon to the tourism industry.
"We have to always remember that Formula One in Malaysia is a tourism agenda as much as a sporting event... a tool to sell Malaysia overseas," Ahmad was quoted as saying.
Organisers said 92,500 tickets were sold last year, the largest number since the auto-racing event was brought to Malaysia. However, with local hero Alex Yoong not expected to be participating next season and with a global threat of terrorism, the organisers are having to resort to a few radical measures to attract spectators.
Ferrari has won all four previous races -- Eddie Irvine in 1999 and Michael Schumacher the next three years. The Malaysian Grand Prix is the second race of the season, coming March 23 after the Australian Grand Prix. |

| Juan Pablo Montoya has been enjoying a hectic schedule both on and off the track. The Colombian driver claimed the fastest time of the day in Valencia as Formula One's testing period began in Spain on Tuesday.
The teams have remained at their European factories since the season ending Japanese Grand Prix last month, but nine of the 11 outfits on the grid returned to action to test parts for next season.
Last week, Montoya was keeping busy on the behalf of people living in poverty back in Colombia, in his capacity as UNICEF Representative he visited a poor district. Together with a UNICEF delegation, comprising UNICEF President Manuel Manrique and Juan Pablo's wife Connie, the 27-year-old visited the village of Napipi in Choco.
The village is one of the poorest of the poor in Colombia and is dependent on external aid in all respects. In order to ease the situation of his compatriots, Juan Pablo donated a generator for energy recruitment. In addition, Juan Pablo, who is living in Monaco, made the children happy with essential clothes.
"The generator is a gift for Napipi, whereas Juan Pablo bestows light and joy on the people", said Manuel Manrique enthusiastically after the visit. "Juan-Pablo Montoya once again substantiated his support for an underprivileged country – on behalf of UNICEF", the UNICEF President expresses his joy about Juan Pablo's commitment. |

| - While most teams are busying themselves testing under the slightly warmer winter Spanish sun, Giancarlo Fisichella was invited to spend a day at a promotional event in Bratislava, Slovakia.
Damovo, Jordan's Slovakian business communications partner, were excited to host the team’s star driver and arranged a busy schedule of activities for the Italian. His day began with a lunch for Damovo’s Slovakian customers, followed by a large press conference.
Fisichella also had time to get back behind the seat of an F1 car by making his driving debut in a life-size Jordan simulator, finishing on the podium in third position Giancarlo enthused: “I have never had a go on a F1 simulator before and it was nearly as much fun as the real thing, but obviously without the danger!”
Damovo-branded entertainers kicked off the gala dinner in the evening with a professional singing and dancing show, after which Fisichella was interviewed on stage.
As Giancarlo’s appearance drew to an end, Mr. Pavol Roza, Damovo Slovakia’s country manager presented Fisichella with traditional Slovakian folk wear of a shipman hat and a small hatchet as a reminder of his time in Bratislava. |
