This weekend it's Alonso weekend! I bet he'd like to do what Schumacher did last race ... win the GP in his own country.

Friday's Practice Sessions are over and we have some interesting, close times.

Forgetting the Friday test drivers, Alonso was quickest with a time of 1:16.860, which was just over 0.2s faster than M.Schumacher. Schumacher wasn't 2nd fastest though. That position went to Klien with a fantastic time of 1:17.086. Fisichella was 4th with 1:17.291, which was only 0.7s faster than 12th placed Villeneuve! (who will have a 10 place engine penalty) Both Honda's, both Toyota's, Heidfeld and Raikkonen came in between Fishcella and Villeneuve. What of Massa? .. 14th. Montoya!? .. 15th. Williams had another slow practice session, with Webber 13th and Rosberg 16th. Positions 17th to 22nd shouldn't surprise you!

Spanish GP Qualifying Results
1. F.Alonso
2. G.Fisichella
3. M.Schumacher
4. F.Massa
5. R.Barrichello
6. R.Schumacher
7. J.Trulli
8. J.Button
9. K.Raikkonen
10. N.Heidfeld
11. M.Webber
12. J.P.Montoya
13. N.Rosberg
14. C.Klien
15. V.Liuzzi
16. S.Speed
17. T.Monteiro
18. C.Albers
19. T.Sato
20. F.Montaghy
21. D.Coulthard
22. J.Villeneuve

Alonso put in a stunning lap time in front of his home crowd, and Fisichella proved it was no Renault fluke as he posted a time that was 0.1s slower - all Renault front row! M.Schumacher and Massa make it an all Ferrari second row. The race win should no doubt be between these four.

Button is disappointed with his 8th place, and I don't blame him as the car could have been a fair bit quicker. What of McLaren!? Raikkonen 9th and Montoya 12th.. This from a team that is meant to be moving forward and has been thought of as potential race win contenders. Not on this form, not at all.

Toyota win the battle of the midfield teams, with both cars strongly inside the top 10.

Prediction League
Pole - F.Alonso

Points Gained -

I was actually thinking.. can you predict a driver to end in the top 8 AND predict him to retire? I just thought that could be handy.. but a risk at the same time.

Top 8:
1. F. Alonso
2. K. Raikkonnen
3. M. Schumacher
4. G. Fisichella
5. J. Button
6. J. Trulli
7. F. Massa
8. N. Heidfeld

Retire:
F. Montagny
C. Klien
V. Liuzzi

FL
M. Schumacher

LMAO, Lizzy.

As far as I'm concerned that's possible, but it's a big risk indeed. If a driver does retire you get 1 point for it, but if you hadn't predict him in the top 8 as well, you could have written down another driver in that top 8 to create a possibility to gain a maximum of 6 points with that driver.

Read that!
