Question Is Football Doing Enough To Stamp Out Racism?

It's been bought to the attention of the media that racism is creeping back into the modern game.

Racist banners and flags at top flight matches in europe ie: Lazio, Atletico Madrid and Serbia + Montenegro), Monkey chants being hurled at players in the lower divisions, Less and less ethnic minorities turning up to top games and people infesting their bigotry and hatred on each other for their race or religion (Rangers + Celtic).

Are we looking at a lazy and over tolerent authorities or are the men in suits doing enough to cut this disease down?

Your vote and opinion is welcome.

The situation is nowhere perfect (not only on sports level of course) and most certainly never will reach perfection.

Though the situation's of course better in certain countries than in others.

Racism is part of the world, whether you like it or not, it has become part of the worldwide society, sadly enough. As football is a sport, it's also part of a certain society, therefore isport is subjected to/victim of racism.

I don't see how football organisations or clubs ca get ird off this, as worldwide organisations try to fight the same problem without very much (decent) result ...

well, i don't think anyone can do enough - there are ALWAYS gonna be some creeps who'll never change.

i think that the campaigns that have been launched (Show racism the red card, etc) have been great as it has raised awareness, which is great.

Maybe issueing bans on those who are found guilty may help.

No way, Racism is rife and not enough is being done, look how little Asian players are in the game in the UK, hardly any and not many Asian fans go for fear of racism.

That's true.

It's been noted that very few ethnic minorities go to football matches, particularly in Italy, Spain, England and in eastern Europe.

And ok, although there are a lot of asian players that wouldn't be good enough for the top leagues, there is still quite a bias against them.

Very true.

Although it kinda needs more international recognition.
