Tottenham Hotspur 1-1 Liverpool
A game of two halves! Liverpool looked slightly the better team in the first-half and proved that when they went ahead with a goal from Cisse oin 38 minutes (who needs Owen! ). In the second-half, Benitez made some dodgy substitutions. He took off Cisse (who was having a good game) and replaced him with Pongole after 63 minutes. Liverpool were already being outplayed a little by Tottenham in the opening 15 minutes of the second-half, but that substitution just seemed to take the dge out of their attacking options. Spurs made their second-half advantage shown after 71 minutes when Defoe equalised. Spurs looked the more likely team to get a winner, but overall I think a 1-1 draw was deserved.

Half-time scores:
Aston Villa 2-0 Southampton .. Villa dominating. Goals from Vassell and Cole.

Blackburn 0-1 West Brom .. West Brom heading for the shock of the day. A sharp contrast to the opening day of the season last year for Blackburn (where they beat Wolves 5-1).

Bolton 2-0 Charlton .. Okocha didn't score all of last season, but it only took him 10 minutes this season to find the back of the net!

Man City 1-0 Fulham .. City dominating and deserving to be more than just one goal up, but will the second-half be different!

Norwich 1-0 Crystal Palace .. Huckerby scored to give Norwich the lead.

Portsmouth 1-1 Birmingham .. Great opening 15 minutes. Savage put Birmingham ahead with a free-kick after 9 minutes, but Unsworth slotted home a penalty just 6 minutes later.

Some good games, Norwich couldnt hang on, ended 1-1, Norwich could have won it in the end. All the promoted sides did well. What happened to Charlton??

Norwich and Palace looked like teams who would both struggle quite a lot this season, but I hope they can do well and get some great results. This would have been the perfect game to win for both sides, but as with a lot of must win games like this, it ended a draw. Norwich don't exactly have it easy through to the end of August .. away to Man United and Newcastle, then they play Arsenal at home. Will Norwich have 1 point after 4 matches? I think so..

I think Charlton maybe didn't realise the season had started! I'm looking forward to MOTD tonight to see just how well Bolton were playing. Jay Jay Okocha .. no goals last season .. this season - 1 match, 2 goals! Wouldn't it be just typical if he scored 20+ this season, lol.

Middlesbrough had to come from behind twice to get a draw at home to Newcastle. Kluivert started on the bench for the visitors, which soon proved to be the right choice from Robson as Bellamy (starting up front with Shearer) put Newcastle ahead after 15 minutes. It took Boro until the 73rd minute to equalise, with the goal coming from Downing. Newcastle went ahead again with a Shearer penalty 7 minutes from the end .. but Boro weren't finished. In the final minute, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink scored his first competitive goal for Boro to give them a point! Newcastle 3rd, Middlesbrough 4th. Lots of teams on 1 point though.

Again .. can't wait until MOTD later tonight.

A lot of draws, Chelsea v Man Utd could be really interesting. I wonder how Drogba will do.
