Consistancy is a good thing:

Manchester City 0-1 Arsenal
Middlesbrough 0-1 Chelsea
Tottenham 0-1 Manchester United

Not terribly exciting matches, but vital wins for all 3 teams.

Liverpool impressed most today against Norwich. They played some great football to earn a 3-0 win .. a scoreline that could have been a few more if the Norwich keeper hadn't been on fine form yet again. Newcastle also impressed, but only after West Brom reduced to 10 men. Kluivert, Milner and Shearer were the scorers.

As for the other promoted team, they fared a bit better (surprisingly) with a 1-1 draw at Villa. Had Palace taken more of their early chances, then they could have won the game.

Fulham beat Southampton to clmib quite a bit up the table and Bolton currently lead Birmingham 1-0.

Man Utd were very poor but Spurs were worse, the referee was very inconsistant!

Charlton Athletic 1-0 Blackburn Rovers

Another disappointing match from this weekend..

I don't think this weekend will be remembered a lot. With the exception of Liverpool's performance against Norwich.

Sir Alex wake up man. This is just crazy. Sort it out and quickly.

Manchester United are prepared to part company with central defender Wes Brown after he rejected a new deal.

The much-injured 24-year-old is out of contract next summer and his demands for a substantial increase in salary were rejected by the club.

"We've made the boy an offer and he's turned it down. It's his decision," said United manager Sir Alex Ferguson. "There are no more talks planned that I'm aware of. We'd like to avoid the situation where he leaves on a free."

Ferguson said he would prefer if England international Brown stayed at Old Trafford but that "if he wants to look elsewhere that's up to him." He's got an agent that has given him advice that I do not understand. I think the problem is with the agent, not the player."

If the situation remains unchanged, Brown would be free to seek a change of club during the winter transfer window.

This competition round is full of excitement. 9 matches played, 5 draws.

Chelsea is once again very convincing ...

... NOT! 8 matches played, 8 goals, yet only 1 conceded.
