The Football World Cup 2006 approaches! With only 4 weeks left until the tournament kicks off with Germany .v. Costa Rica, its time to start-up an ever present feature of the Sports forum - a Prediction League!
The points system used shall be the tried and tested system which has served us well for 5 years:

Guessing the correct score of one team = 1 point.
Guessing the correct winner of the match = 2 points.
Guessing the correct winner and one teams score = 3 points.
Guessing the correct winner and both teams scores = 4 points.
Guessing a draw correctly = 1 point.
Guessing a draw correctly and the right score = 2 points.
Guessing the loser as the winner, and vice versa = -1 point. |
Bonus Points
To gain a few extra points predict who you think will finish 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the 2006 World Cup! However, these predictions should be made by 17:00 BST on June 9th, or in other words, before the first match starts!
5 points will be awarded for each correctly placed team.
The fixture list shall be posted in this post. From June 9th to June 27th there will be at least 2 matches every day, so remember to predict! This post shall be updated with the knockout roundl fixtures very quickly, as there aren't many days between these rounds.

If you're going away for a few days, predict in advance!
Scores count after 90 minutes only.
Hopefully we'll have plenty of people joining in this PL as its a popular, worldwide event! Don't be put off if you don't know a great deal about Football, as this is about having fun as well!
