Some interesting results tonight!

Ajax being knocked out by Kobenhavn has to be the biggest shock .. Chievo were also eliminated by Levski Sofia, and so Italy will only have 3 CL teams. Fenerbache were finished off by Dynamo Kiev in a goo 2-2 draw. Arsenal were awful in the frist-half against Dinamo Zagreb, and at one point could have been 2-0 down! They brought on the big players in the second-half and turned the match around to seal qualification! Hearts lost out on CL Football this season after losing 3-0 in Athens, in a match in which they were also reduced to 9 men.

Russia will have 2 teams in the CL this season.

Kasia - remember, all teams eliminated from the 3rd QR still go into the 1st Round of the UEFA Cup.

Hearts are out! I was hoping they could make it, That wont go down well with management at Hearts.

That is a shock that Ajax are out, I couldnt believe my eyes when I was reading that last night!

I felt the same way! It was one of those matches I just expected Ajax to win.. didn't even consider a shock.

I think almost nobody expected Ajax not to qualify for the CL, especially after the 1-2 victory in Denmark two weeks ago. Last night's 1st half was fantastic, 5 big chances for Ajax, Gabri was playing excellent!

Kobenhavn played 4-5-1, which is pretty defensible (?) for a team that has to score at least twice, but it worked. During the 2nd half, they changed their system into 4-4-2 and brought Berglund into the field, who was causing trouble for Stam/Vermaelen. Solbakken (Kobenhavn coach) ran to the fans after the last whistle and seemed even more enthusiastic than his players.

Spartak Moscow, Shakhtar, Levski Sofia, CSKA Moscow, Dinamo Kiev. When we're really getting into the group phase (mid-November), I'm sure these teams will gain some points when they play the big ones.

Now we've seen some teams in action, what are your expectations for the Champions LeagueL? And what's your opinion on the clubs that come from smaller countries?

I'm interested to see which team HSV has to play against. It's a pity they are in Pot 4.
