FC Koln is officially promoted to the Bundesliga thanks to their 2-1 victory over Erzgebirge Aue (what a name ) yesterday. Trainer Huub Stevens will be leaving after the season though, because of his wife's health problems.

It is rumoured though that Stevens is going to be the new coach of Roda JC. He was also the coach who brought Roda to 2nd place ( ) in 1994/1995.

Good for Koln! Well done

Newly-crowned German champions Bayern Munich have confirmed the signing of Asian Footballer of the Year Ali Karimi on a free transfer.

The highly-rated Iranian midfielder, one of Asia’s most prominent players, moves from Al Ahli of the United Arab Emirates to Bavaria on a one-year contract with a view to extend at the end of his first season. Bayern coach Felix Magath told reporters: "Karimi is a fast, agile, dangerous player and will be a very interesting signing for us."

Saturday 7th May
Mainz - Bayern Munich
Nurnberg - Bochum
Stuttgart - Hannover
Freiburg - Kaiserslautern
Herta - Wolfsburg
Bayer Leverkusen - Hansa Rostock
Arminia Bielefeld - Schalke

Sunday 8th May
Hamburger - Borussia M'Gladbach
Dortmund - Werder Bremen

Since it's close at the top, clubs could make a little mistake, but the time has come you have to win to keep your chances for EC/surviving open.

Ofcourse some question again. Do Bayern (Makaay/Pizarro) still want to give 100%? And which teams have the best chances after the weekend for 2nd and 3rd place?

Saturday 7th May
Mainz 2-4 Bayern Munich
Nurnberg 2-1 Bochum
Stuttgart 1-0 Hannover
Freiburg 1-2 Kaiserslautern
Herta 3-1 Wolfsburg
Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 Hansa Rostock
Arminia Bielefeld 0-2 Schalke

Everything went like we expected. After Makaay's hattrick last week against Kaiserslautern he did it again this afternoon. Makaay 3x! He has now scored 19 goals this season.

With two rounds to go, both Werder and Hamburger can't afford it to lose points tomorrow. Bochum and Hansa Rostock will be gone by the end of the season.

Two surprising results there. Hamburger have now lost their chance of reaching the CL. Dortmund (8th) are only 4 points away from 6th place.

The gap between 15th and 16th place is 6 points and with 2 matches to go, we can say Bochum, Hansa Rostock and Freiburg are relegated.

A full Saturday afternoon schedule:

Saturday 14th May
Werder Bremen - Freiburg
Schalke - Dortmund
Hansa Rostock - Arminia Bielefeld
Mainz - Kaiserslautern
Wolfsburg - Bayer Leverkusen
Bayern Munich - Nurnberg
Borussia M'Gladbach - Herta
Hannover - Hamburger
Bochum - Stuttgart

Borussia Dortmund's goal (6th place) won't be achieved so easy. After the tough match against Bremen last week, which they surprisingly won, they're now up against #2 Schalke 04. Schalke need the points as well, otherwise they could lose the CL! Exciting.

Bayern shouldn't have a big problem with Nurnberg, maybe Makaay can score more and try to take the topscorer title.

Kaiserslautern have appointed Michael Henke as their new coach with the 48-year-old succeeding temporary boss Hans-Werner Moser.

Henke has signed a one-year contract which has the option to be extended by a further 12 months at the end of next season, and he will officially take charge at the end of the campaign.
