Winning the title early is a great feeling, knowing that you've blown away the opposition with time to spare.

First big test coming up tonight ... we have quite some important players that are injured, some of them will probably miss the whole month December (which also includes a double encounter with Stuttgart for the UEFA Cup)

First mission accomplished for Brugge, after a great weekend. A great weekend for Brugge, but also for the spectators

Brugge beated Lierse (#2) at home with 3-0. They experienced some problems in the first 20 minutes, but controlled and dominated the game from them on

With that comes the loss of #3 Lokeren, yesterday on the field of Anderlecht, 2-0.
Also St-Truiden lost on the field of (an at home invincible) Bergen, 3-0. Three goals scored by Cederic Roussel. That gives St-Truiden 1 point on 6 (including last wednesday draw against Moeskroen)

Other results:

Antwerp beated La Louvière, 2-1.

Standard won against Westerlo, 3-0.

Charleroi lost at home, once again and with big numbers, once again ... 1-6 against GBA, after leading with 1-0 untill the 30th minute ...

And Genk won against (financial trouble maker ) KV Mechelen, with an easy and let's say not that bad 9-0!!!
Young International Kevin Vanderbergh scored 3 times! While Belgian top scorer of last season Wesley Sonck scored an incredible 6 times!!! That makes him the undisputed, current #1 top scorer of this season, with 14 goals in 13 games.

Tomorrow the final two games:

Gent - Beveren
Moeskroen - Lommel

They almost never say something here about the Belgian competition, but yesterday they did.
9-0 and Sonck 6 times !!

Does someone know if that has happend before ?

And with the result of last weekend I'm pretty sure Brugge will be champion in the end.

If Brugge can get at least a 10 on 12 in the month December, we're pretty good on our way to win it at the end

And I have no idea if a player already scored 6 goals in Belgium before ... a rarely feature that's for sure

The results of this afternoon:

Gent - Beveren: 2-1
Moeskroen - Lommel: 2-0

No surprises there

The full results and updated table will follow later

Or maybe in another European competition ? You have more knowledge than me.

Well I recall 4 goals ... even 5 once (already 12 years ago or something ) ... but 6 ... never saw that before ...

But I'm sure a player already scored more in one game ... perhaps many years ago, but it's still in the books ... I just wouldn't have any idea who would have accomplished that then ...

First a little note: I checked for similar performances as the one Sonck delivered this past weekend (when he scored 6 goals). I found two Belgian players who beated him in the goal scoring record. One was from 1948, when a guy scored 7 times (all the goals) in a match which ended on 7-1. And the first guy to ever score more than 6 goals, scored 8 goals. That match took place in 1938 and had an amazing end score of 17-1! So with his performance, Sonck entered the books as the #3 of most goals scored in one match for a Belgian player. I don't know about other competitions all over the world ...

This week's results:

Anderlecht - Lokeren: 2-0
Antwerpen - La Louvière: 2-1
Charleroi - Germinal Beerschot: 1-6
Bergen - St-Truiden: 3-0
Club Brugge - Lierse: 3-0
Standard - Westerlo: 3-0
Genk - KV Mechelen: 9-0
Gent - Beveren: 2-1
Moeskroen - Lommel: 2-0

Belgian Jupiler Liga Table Gameday 13

Next week's matches:

La Louvière - Moeskroen
Lokeren - Bergen
Lokeren will probably wanna take revenge against Bergen. They lst against them and got eliminated out of the Cup cause of that. Bergen aren't strong on enemy terrain.
Beveren - Antwerp
Westerlo - Gent
KV Mechelen - Standard
St-Truiden - Club Brugge
One of the two top matches this week. St-Truiden's stadium is called 'Staaien', but when they host one of the big clubs, the stadium is called 'The Hell of Staaien'. With their attacking mood and their strong, fanatic supporters, St-Truiden has been an expert for years now in beating the big clubs at home. Club Brugge will have to keep it very well organized at the back. Also Brugge has to visit Stuttgart this week for the UEFA Cup.
Germinal Beerschot - Anderlecht
Though match for Anderlecht, GBA has a strong home reputation, plus Anderlecht has to keep the Belgian honor high in the UEFA Cup, when facing Bordeaux.
Lommel - Charleroi
Lierse - Genk
Genk needs to win this match and they have to count on a loss for Brugge, so they can sneak in closer. But the exact same goes Lierse. And of course the beauty of football wants that only one can win.

I have a nice little football annual at home that will tell me stats like that for the English league and psossibly Internationals.

Congrats on your win this weekend and good luck for the games this week.

7 points clear with a game in hand is an awesome place to be.

BTW - You made a small mistake on the table. You've put Bergen down as having played 12 games when they've played 13 games.
