yeah same here, never heard of them, but they look interesting, what is they music like? who would you compare them to?

Epica is a dutch band, thats prob why youve never heard of them. Most people dont unless they go out and search for good lead female metal bands like I do. A short crude description of what they sound like would be Metal combined with classical. If you had to compare Epica to other bands, I'd say Nightwish, Within Temptation, Edenbridge, After Forever, Therion, just to name a few.
