Unhappy Good Vectorizing? come here!

Hey.. I have a problem... I have to vectorize this image.. I did it but I'm not sure of it... can you tell me some good tips of what can i get better? What's wrong with the drawing vector I did? (be very very honest) I mean.. my vector doesn't look good

I don't know what to do...

Here they are (original left, vectorized right) obviously

I see you're using a lot of gradients in your vector. While its a nice thought, I would tend to leave the gradients for backgrounds and leave them out of the foregrounds, if you're going to use them at all. Truthfully, they don't work well with vectors. And if you do decide to use them, I wouldn't go with such a contrast between the colors used in the gradients. If you want something to fade from white to black, I would just go with a fade from a light grey to a slightly darker grey. But if you're a beginning 'vectorer' I would stay away from the gradients all together.

I find the key to making nice vectors is to be very detailed with what you do. It's no more difficult than a simple vector, it's just more time consuming.

Thanks Swany. This was an assigment from class... when I cheated using "plane" colors (no gradients) the proffessor said "why didn't you used gradients?"... I have seen a lot of vectors , any of them uses gradients so you're right... the teacher doesn't explain much either so its a waste he's there.

True. I realize by this feedback that I need to take the gradients away, at least with the dolphins, so I will try again adding as much details as possible so it can look good. Thanks again for the feedback Swany
