Default Blinking Stars Tutorial also transparent av the star brush n more..

I just explained this all in a PM to someone and I am just going to copy and paste it for everyone cuz I have been getting alot of people asking me these ?'s and it is hard to explain over and over so here is a thread for u all Also I am going to include the star brush that u need to make the blinking stars on ur blend in a zip...

How do u make the transparent avatar?:

For the avatar I just take a picture put it on a transparent bg and just cut out pieces of the pic with the selection tool then there is no way I can tell u to do it cuz all mine are different and I just do whatever looks good to me. Then I zoom way in when I am done with a 1pixel paintbrush black and I paint around the whole av like that. and then save it as a gif u have to go file > export > Gif Optimizer to save it as transparent in the Paintshop Pro.

What font is on my blend right now?:

The font on my blend is called Stampede I dont remember where I got it anymore but u can try www.dafont.com it has alot!

How do u make those blinking stars on ur blend?:

There is this brush in psp and it looks like an x and first u just make a regular blend then I make 3 layers on the blend and the first layer I put some stars on the letters but not too much then i save that as 1 the second layer i keep the first layer showing and put somemore stars where there arent any but not too many again and then I hide the first layer so just the second one is showing with the new stars and save that as 2 and then i show all the layers and on the 3rd layers put some stars where there arent any yet and then hide the other 2 so u only see the new 3rd one and save that as 3 and then I go into the animation shop and just put em together and that is it hope ya understand that!

I have attached the brush as a zip u need to unzip it then copy and paste it in this folder...

c:/programfiles/Jasc Software Inc/Paint Shop Pro 7/Brushes

also it is a set of brushes so u will get more than just one you need winzip or any kind of zip program to extract this....

use the one that looks like the X for the stars!!

You must have psp to do this probably need 7.04 but other versions might be able to have these brushes too. If u dont have psp go to www.jasc.com and download the trial then search on the board here my name and go to my thread I made not too long ago with the crack to the psp and the animation shop and that is it. Enjoy now!!

It was considerate of you to post this...because tons of people have done those things before you but it just gets pointless to keep explaining shit to people so you just keep it to yourself. So it was nice to put this here for the people who can't figure out anything on their own.

Tip: the blinking stars look way better and way more realistic if you a) use a fade effect, and b) make more than three layers so that the stars don't keep chasing each other or move in such a predictable sequence, and so you can't so easily tell that they just start back up where they began.

aka:

EDIT: three really aren't needed here...was I on crack? No...just overtired I think. Damn...I need to cut that shit out.

PS -- it's not true that you need PSP to do this, in fact I think Adobe photoshop has better star brushes for that -- they also have the same one used in PSP. Basically what I'm trying to say is...anyone can do this effect -- it's not rocket science.

thanks MyGameMyRules i never said I was the only one to do that or the first...just people have been asking me how to do it cuz I have been making alot of em lately...and I only use 3 layers and no effects cuz I try to keep the file as little as possible so it doesnt take forever to load. thanks though.

yeah i know u can do it in adobe too but psp is easier for beginners and most of the people on here dont have adobe.

never said it was rocket science either

I know. I never said you did. I said it was nice of you to post it. Then I just added a helpful hint -- nothing personal dude.

"Easier for beginners" is an opinion -- whatever you pick up first is going to be the easiest. I was a beginner once too, and I liked Adobe better because you could just drag and drop layers instead of cutting and pasting them -- that was the only thing that got me started on it. And Adobe is just as easy to go download from the site as PSP. All I was saying was that you don't need PSP to do it. 'tis all. You can really keep your eye roll to yourself -- ain't needed here.

Never said you said that -- no need to get defensive. My statement that "it's not rocket science" was not personal, dude -- it was simply a statement to let people know that they can do it and it's not hard.

Thanks for posting!

I'll have to try the star thing some time!

I like the way you have it julie but the file size really sucks with it ! I usually have an animation or something w/ my blend and I hate having to much crap because it sucks for people w/ dial-up! Right now i don't like as much as i have in there!

The exact same brush exists for PS -- and it's hard to learn one once you've started on the other. I only just recently taught myself to use PSP after using PS for like a year.

I cannot stand adobe! Maybe it's because i am use to PSP but when i had to use it at school i hated it! PSP is way easier for me to use, but what sucks is if you get into anything in college with designing or whatever, you are gonna have to use Adobe!
