Yea sorry if this has been posted.. any way.
The former Leeds United AFC and Juventus FC striker John Charles was "recovering well" in hospital today, 48 hours after undergoing heart surgery.
No longer critical
Charles's condition was said to be no longer critical following the operation to repair an aortic aneurysm in Milan's San Carlo hospital on Tuesday night. The 72-year-old Welshman was due to have appeared as a guest on La Domenica Sportiva, a popular sports show on Italian television that evening.
'Road to recovery'
Dr Piergiorgio Settembrini, the surgeon who operated on Charles, said: "The patient is recovering well. He's on the right road to recovery even if we have to remain cautious up to 72 hours after surgery.
In good spirits
"I had a chat with him this morning, and he asked me about the Serie A football results, which shows that he is in good spirits. He is strong and he can resist the pain well."
Gentle giant
Charles won the Scudetto three times with Juventus, scoring 93 goals in 155 appearances after joining them in 1957 from Leeds for what was then a world-record fee of €96,000. Never booked or sent off during his time in Italy, the Welsh international was nicknamed the 'Gentle giant'.
