Britney's dad Jamie was beside himself with rage yesterday — and literally spat the words: “There was no wedding.” He stormed round to the home of Jason Alexander’s dad Dennis and ORDERED him not to talk to reporters. Jamie told his beaming new in-law: “Don’t talk to them. Don’t say anything.” And when a journalist offered congratulations, Jamie spat chewing tobacco on the ground.
Then he glared and thundered his “denial” that any marriage had happened. The pop babe’s mum Lynne — a major influence on her career — refused to answer the doorbell at the mansion Britney bought in Kentwood, Louisiana.
Jason’s dad, who lives in a £70,000 wooden home in the same town, appeared to be taking the news rather differently.
And the new groom’s grandparents Betty and Robert Alexander were toasting the shock news at their nearby home.
Dad Dennis admitted he was stunned to learn of his new daughter-in-law.
He said: “I have spoken to Jason but I know he and Britney’s dad want to get together and come up with a statement.
“The boy was supposed to be spending New Year with us and we were going to have a bit of a party.
“But then last minute he told us he was going to Vegas instead with Britney.
“But hell, I don’t blame him. I would have done the same.
“If Jennifer Lopez had called me up and invited me to go to New York I would have been straight there.”
Dennis added: “Jason and Britney have known each other for forever, since they were little kids.
“This is a real small town and everybody knows everybody else. We’ve always been friends with the Spears family, real good acquaintances.
“Jason is just a good old homeboy. He’s not the sort to crave the celebrity life.”
Dennis said 6ft 2in Jason, a fourth-year college student, dreams of becoming a professional American football star.
Jason’s sister Amanda, 18, said: “My brother usually tells me everything, but I had no idea about this. I knew they were friends and were going to Las Vegas and all that, but as regards all this other stuff . . . Lord.”
She added: “My brother’s a handsome guy. He’s got it all going for him. The girls have always gone for him.
“All Jason’s and Britney’s friends are the same, they hang out with the same crowd. But this — this has shocked me.”
The family revealed that unlike globe-trotting Britney, Jason has rarely strayed far from Kentwood — and was back there last night.
Grandad Robert said he picked the student up in New Orleans and added: “He’d been through a lot and didn’t have much to say.
“I wish them well. Whatever happens, happens.”
The mayor of Kentwood last night welcomed the marriage.
Harold Smith said: “Everyone here is very proud of Britney and her success.
“It means a lot to the people of this small town that she has come so far. She is a global superstar.
“Nobody really knows what is going on with this wedding to Jason. But we want Britney to be happy whatever she does. Her happiness is the most important thing.
“I don’t know if this wedding has really taken place.
“Me and the people of this town will be waiting like the rest of the world to see what happens.”

The singer and childhood sweetheart Jason, also 22, were said to be “laughing and giggling” as they wed in a 15-minute quickie wedding early on Saturday.
But when Britney started to sober up the prank no longer seemed so funny.
She rang her lawyers in a panic, ordering them to get the marriage annulled as soon as possible — using any method necessary.
And last night a friend of the singer said: “It was just a drunken lark. Britney and Jason had been partying for two days straight when they decided to do it.
“She said something like, ‘Wouldn’t it be funny if we got married — oh let’s just go and do it!’ But then it turned into ‘Oh my God, what have I done!’ Suddenly it was a joke that just went too far.”
The friend told how Britney gradually became more and more horrified by the prank as the effects of the booze wore off.
The pal added: “She thought it was funny all Saturday morning. But by about 5pm on Saturday she realized what she had done and what a terrible mistake it had been.
“Not least among her worries was what her mother Lynne would say — she didn’t know anything about the wedding. She has brought Britney up to respect the sanctity of marriage — and Britney knew she would be very angry.
“After all, it was not a case of a whirlwind romance leading to true love. It was just a stupid, crazy spur-of-the-moment idea.”
Last night sources close to Britney said she and her advisers had already met with Jason to sign the legal papers that will begin the annulment process.
The wedding fiasco has added to concerns that Britney is on the edge of a breakdown.
Yesterday a Hollywood divorce lawyer said: “For Britney to do what she did is suicidal. She is worth $100million plus — so to wed without a pre-nuptial agreement is financial madness.
“Her lawyers must have had heart attacks when they heard. Luckily for her if it is annulled Jason is entitled to nothing.”
Britney and Jason made the snap decision to marry after spending two days knocking back drinks at Las Vegas’s plush Palms Hotel. The singer checked into the £6,000-a-night Real World suite using the name Alotta Warmheart.
Deputy Marriage Commissioner Joyce Singer revealed: “Britney was accompanied by a very nice gentleman. My colleague served them at the counter. It was over very quickly. They were probably in there about half an hour.”
Mrs Singer insisted Britney showed no signs of being drunk. She added: “She was sober. We are not allowed by law to give a license to anyone who is under the influence.
“But Britney and Jason were both fine and therefore we gave them the license.”
Lynda Wells, who served Britney and Jason, claimed they seemed “deadly serious” about marrying.
Britney was escorted down the aisle by a barman from the Palms hotel. The ceremony was witnessed by just a handful of people, including chapel staff. A cameraman videotaped it for Britney, charging her £75.
The chapel owners gave Britney and Jason a heart-shaped card containing the recipe for a successful marriage.

This sounds true, but it came from The Sun so i dont know....i hope it's true cuz then it would make me feel alot better about the whole thing and how Britney didn't do it while she was completely thinking straight.
