I dont know if you've seen the more recent version. The STEPHEN KING version. It was a 3 part Mini-series on ABC back in 1997. They just released in on DVD last January. Stephen Weber played the main character, and Rebecca Demornay played Wendy. Anyways, it
is a good movie.
Stanley Kubrik's The Shining (with Jack Nicholson) really is awful. I cant stand to watch it, it just butchered the book.
