The Return of the King Teaser Trailer – Transcript…
(Flash of the ring in Frodo’s hand and Frodo and Sam following Gollum down into the trees.. fade to Pippin and Gandalf together)
Pippin: Is there any hope Gandalf… for Frodo and Sam?
Gandalf: There never was much hope… just a fool’s hope.
(Flash of Frodo .., dirty face… climbing)
(Merry kneeling in front of Pippin)
Merry: We shall see the shire again…
(Pippin nods… “yes” with a tearful face… flashes to Shadowfax riding through the woods… the flash of Sauron’s eye, an Orc army… and cut to Faramir in Gondor…)
Faramir: My lord, Osgiliath is overrun.
(Flash of Soldiers of Gondor running through the city… Fade to Eowyn)
Theoden: I would have you smile again (scene fades to Theoden talking to Eowyn) Not grieve for those whose time has come…
(fade to the battlefield.. fallen Gondorian Soldiers… Aragorn on the field… drops to his knees.. Legolas seen behind him… Fades to Gandalf)
Gandalf: Orders sent… (Shows Gondorian Archers poised for attack on the walls)
Pieces are moving (the huge orc army moving towards Gondor)
we come to it at last (An army leaves Gondor.. lead by a sorrowful Aragorn).
The great battle of our time
(Shadowfax and Gandalf on the stairs of Gondor.. riding up… looking over the wall to the oncoming army of Mordor… flash to Gondor…soldiers ride .. yelling… swords raised… riding across a field… Flash to Uruk-hai battering down the gates of Gondor… Some piece of a huge building falls.. Crushing the gates.. Uruk-hai break through… flash to The Nazgul riding his flying beast which takes out a tower as it flys over Gondor and the battle… Fade to Sam and Frodo…)
(Sam’s face is animate, words harsh, full of emotion)
Sam: You don’t see it do you!?
(Fades to Frodo’s face.. almost lifeless.. eyes wide.. uncomprehending and blankly stareing away from sam...)
Gollum: Precious will be ours… (Gollum.. looking in a pool.. talking to himself… face full of malevolence)
(flashes back to the raging battle of Gondor.. flaming objects being flung out of catapults onto the city.. destruction and mayhem…)
(Fade to Frodo.. in a dark cave.. spiderwebs in the background…)
Sam: He’s leading us into a trap! (Frodo is looking around this cave… frightened…)
Gollum: Once the Hobbitses are dead. (Frodo is running down into this dark cave… scared… Fade to Gollum and the pool… as he finishes what he says… drops a stone into the pool and smiles with such maliciousness…)
(Fade to Narsil… Aragorn is holding it… they are in some kind of chamber or cave… Aragorn.. sword drawn.. swings a torch.. Legolas is seen behind him… they are in a cave.. say.. a Path…suddenly cuts to Theoden’s army… Legolas is seen… preparing to fire an arrow…)
Theoden: Ride now! Ride for ruin! (the army collides)And the world’s ending!
(Aragorn is seen in Gondorian Armor in the middle of this battle... wielding a sword… chopping off some heads no doubt… Flash of the armies again and then fade to Shadowfax and Gandalf on the tower of Gondor… facing a Nazgul and his winged beast as they land in front of the defiant wizard and his horse….)
