West Ham have accepted an undisclosed offer from Chelsea for full-back Glen Johnson.
The 18-year-old forced his way into the first team towards the end of last season and produced a series of composed performances at full-back.
In that time he established a reputation as one of the English game's brightest young talents despite the Hammers eventually being relegated from the Premiership.
"West Ham United can confirm that following discussions with Glen Johnson and his advisors, we have accepted an undisclosed offer from Chelsea," read a West Ham statement.
"Glen has been given permission to discuss personal terms with Chelsea."
Johnson, who could cost Chelsea in the region of £6m, would be the first signing of a new era at Stamford Bridge under the Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich. |
