Well for example most people register with Britney in their names a lot. britney987887, britfangirl, britney4life, brit4life, britney4eva, fan4britney, and so on. Wouldn't that confuse the hell out of you either?
After a while the britney thing gets old and people would want a name to define their own indentities. That alone is reason enough to have an option to change your name.
Another reason is when your name is john3892, and you would love to see that change to John. Or your name is popstar_03, and you would love to have it look like Pop Star instead.
As for confusion, yes that's a burden. That's why names are only changed every 1st of the month. So you can expect some new names to hit the board today.
I keep logs for every time that I change those names. You can view those logs through the thread in Forum Support. So if you wanna know who's who, simply check that log every first of the month.
