England have moved up to seventh in the latest publication of Fifa's world rankings.

Euro 2004 qualifying victories over Liechtenstein and Turkey lifted Sven-Goran Eriksson's side up two places in the ranking tables.

The standings also see Wales move into the world's top 50 for the first time in eight years following their 4-0 win over Azerbaijan.

Berti Vogts' Scotland moved up four places, to 59th, but the Republic of Ireland dropped a place to 14th after their win over Georgia and draw in Albania.

LATEST FIFA RANKINGS
Brazil 849 pts
Spain 785
France 782
Germany 755
Holland 752
Argentina 750
England 742
Turkey 728
Mexico 724
USA 719

Northern Ireland, after defeats in Armenia and at home against Greece, drop four places to 111.

Brazil remain at number one, while France's Euro 2004 qualifier wins were not enough to dislodge Spain from second place.

Germany and Holland both move up one place to fourth and fifth respectively, partly because of Argentina's inactivity.

Costa Rica break into the top 20 for the first time but the biggest gain sees Cuba leap 18 places to 55th.
