Stacking every damn font you have in that fonts folder does take a lot out of your computer, especially when you start up the software that uses these things. It might happen that your computer can't take it and doesn't load any more than >insert limit number here<. So unless you got a damn fast computer, I'd store them in a different folder and when you need one specifically (for making a blend or whatnot), copy it into the fonts folder so you can use it.
